Do you have clases online? By zoom?
@@estefaniaform6430 hi, I’m sorry I do not.
oh my goodness, thank you so much for this! You're an excellent instructor! I'm working up such a sweat following you! 😄 Can anyone please comment on roughly how much time a beginner needs to put in to build up the strength to get really good at this (and shake fast)? 🤔
Thank you, Abby. Very nice way to learn thé basics and remember the step names. 🙏☀️

Amazing teacher 😊🎉
Thank you.👍
Mahalo very beautiful
you should have shown this as you dance duo the music. I have no idea where you are in the song for the moves
Where can I find your video of how you first began this and how to fold the paper
Hi Julie! I’m so sorry I never got around to making a video to show how to cut the paper. It’s about 7” strips tall and 1” and 1/2 wide. Then I cut the top and bottom at the same angle . The top has a point on the left and the bottom to have a point on the right . I hope this helps! Thank you for watching my videos and supporting my channel! Take care!
Mahalo!❤
I LOOOOVE this!!!
Great job!! Mahalo!!
I love the angles that you video. It’s so easy to see and understand.
Beautifully done
Aloha, beautifully done❤
Thank you so much! Have a great day!
Great videos. Aloha, I just started my hula class a month ago. I love watching your videos. Your videos also help me to learn the hawaiian meaning of each dance step by step. Mahalo
GREAT DEFINED TEACHING THANKS
Ok
Excelente maestra.
Amazing. Love it. And after warming up on your other videos and loosening up these old bones and getting in the swing it’s possible for even me to kinda dance it as the fluidity and rhythm are so natural, and the swing. Hope to improve someday!! And yeah, song and dance melt the heart don’t they🦄🌈🌺
That’s amazing to hear!!!! Thank you so much for letting me know! You will definitely get better with practice and time!
Thank you for your teaching technics 💕🤩💕
You’re so very welcome! I’m working on healing up and I hope to get more videos up soon
Wonderful video I just have one request as a beginner. What do the words mean? It would be nice to have that somewhere in the video.
Thank you very much. I think the words are online, you can try to search the song and artist and it should pop up . Im not fluent in Hawaiian Olelo so I wouldn’t be able to translate. Thank you for visiting and I hope your o get more videos going soon.
What are the dimensions of the paper leaves please?
About7 or 8 inch. Depends how far out you want it to be. You can make it much longer for a dramatic effect too!
😂😂😂
Hi Abby, what are the 3 other famous hulas? I know it’s been years since you posted this, but I hope you will reply. Mahalo nui!
Aloha!! Yes I’m so sorry I need to post some recent hula. After I had my baby I couldn’t dance without my hips popping out of socket. Ouch! But I’m easing back into it now. The 3 other famous hulas are Ikona, i Ali’i , and papalina Lahi lahi Sending Aloha! Abby Quiet!
@@AbbyQuietOh, mahalo nui for the reply. I’ve been coming to the comment section to check. Like the OP, I’m curious about what the other 3 hulas are, too. Can’t wait for new videos. Ke Akua pu!
It hurts my lower back, I guess that's because I'm stiff and it's a new movement for me?
I learned recently that not all dancers *tap* on the fourth beat of kaholo. It would be step together-step-pause. What are your thoughts on that?
Sounds like a tap. Hahhaha I only say that because the weight is still on the foot of the direction the kaholo was even if the tapping foot is paused. In hula feet keep the timing so I think even if it’s a pause it’s still the same timing as a traditional kaholo with the tap. All schools teach a different way or style but I only teach the way I learned.I hope that helps some. Thanks for your comment I hope my answer is helpful. Take care!
@@AbbyQuiet Yes, it's the same timing. I was also taught to tap, and I'll continue teaching that way, because golly, some of my haumana need every little thing that can help! Mahalo!
This is so super, thank you. Smooth, graceful and easy to follow. If you don’t mind as Kumu, I will learn your steps bc this is one of my favorite songs to sing and play on the ukulele
Already did😅
Yaaaaaaasssssss!!!!
I have a cannabis plant and a poppy plant and I'm still anxious

Tells him he doesn't need an explanation. Proceeds to give him the explanation anyway. And if the 'he' in question is sharing your space and budget, he has every right to express his opinion on how they're being used.
Love it ❤
He's a grown dude, not needing to explain why he bought a new motorcycle.
Pencils duh...

Thank you for doing a tutorial on tahitian!! I love it!!! You should create more!! Mahalo!! ❤
Hi Abby. I've just come across your video's this evening, it is a joy to watch you. I was wondering about doing the movements as to how long they take to master as well ad to weight loss. I am a sister from Liverpool, England and look forward to hearing from you 🤗. Warm and best regards 🙃🥰.
Hello Allison! Nice to hear from you all the way from England! The time is takes Mastering the moves depends partly on talent and partly on dedication and practice. Once you have the basic technique you can do any dance. It’s a great workout. A 45 min warm up once a week with healthy eating is a great start!
What artist sings this version of the song?
Thank you, I think it’s ocean?
Beautiful
Ok?
Don’t get offended by it
@@user-qc3hz9ro9n I’m not even offended I’m just saying ok?
YES!!!!! This all day!
Wooooif you know you know!
slay girl
Oh thank you!
When you taught Afata slowly at first you went forward and back with one hip. Then when you faced the mirror you went forward with the left hip and back with the right. Then forward with the right hip and back with the left. I’m confused! Is it just me?
Thank you for this lesson I appreciate you so much
You’re welcome very much!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this basic lesson in hula dance, and not wearing a skirt. I'll view your next lessons. Have love and blessings. 🙂
