    I am glad that I found your channel. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. Question please: the "boost" slider doesn't appear to do anything. According to the Adobe, boost "Lets you adjust the brightness of out-of-focus light sources in the imag." I don't see any effect of this slider at all. Do you know how it affects the image please?

    • @easternshorephotoinstruction
      @easternshorephotoinstruction 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your note and question. The boost slider is to boost your bokeh. If you don’t have much or any bokeh in your photo, you really wont see much effect when moving the slider. The best thing to do is to find a photo that has noticeable bokeh and then crank the boost slider up and back. Then you will see the change. Typically most photos don’t have much bokeh so you won’t see much difference when using the slider. But when you do have a good representation of bokeh you will notice the changes. Also, try it with different bokeh types. Some show up more prominently than others when using the boost slider. Thanks for the question. I hope the answer helps you out.

I really love your presentation style. So now I have watched 5 of your videos and noticed a consistent theme - you make use of the "mask/masking" tool/feature often. I now understand why. Your comment that people often use tools globally is so true because many YT videos talk in those terms. While there are times for global use, the power of selective masking so CREATIVELY POWERFUL. With proper selective use I am now seeing how to effectively use other LR tools WITH the masking tool.....I need to start thinking "locally" when using LR tool/features and get out of the global thinking in order to make truly spectacular, popping, interesting print

    • @easternshorephotoinstruction

      So sorry to hear that. I really haven’t heard any negative comments yet. I have to admit in my testing I did find the tool did add unnecessary items in some examples when Generative AI is checked. But when I changed the masking area (making it smaller or refined what I included) it worked better. Also in my testing I found if you don’t check the Generative AI or Object Aware check boxes the tool works identically to how the cleanup tools did in prior versions. What issues are you having with the tools? Maybe I can help you through any issues you are having.

    • @carolinejohnson8761
      @carolinejohnson8761 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @easternshorephotoinstruction I did send feedback to Adobe. The control Z that immediately stopped working after agreeing to AI removal tool is now back. That was the worst. I'd have to go back to the original photo and start over. The tool itself just doesn't work. It's worse than without. You're right, if I deselect AI and the selection is extremely small, like flaws in face, it will erase. Anything larger no longer works no matter what I select. It certainly doesn't work like it advertises, which is what convinced me to try it.

    I just wondering, why did you here, at 13:57, you use Whites and here 14:07 Exposure? If it is intentionally then is important for us to understand it. The same is here 14:19, why did you use the blacks and not the shadows? 🤔🤔🤔

    • @easternshorephotoinstruction
      @easternshorephotoinstruction หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good catch. I realized what I had done when I was editing the video. I thought I should have explained it but I couldn't make a smooth edit to include an explanation. Basically, you could use exposure or whites to make the change. As long as it is a small tweak. If a larger change is needed, I find exposure changes can bring in some gray tones. But using white doesn't do that as much. I guess the best advice is to try each method for clipped highlights and shadows. Exposure vs white, exposure vs highlights, exposure vs blacks or shadows to see what works best on the photo. It just depends what color and tone is surrounding the clipped area you are trying to correct. Thanks for bringing up the subject. I find if one person asks a question...there are others (who don't send in comments) that are wondering the same thing. I hope this explanation makes sense? Mick

    Only aperture and shutter speed control exposure. ISO only amplifier of data captured by sensor.

      Yep...I guess in lumping them all together I stretched the definition of exposure a bit. Thanks for the comment.

    G'day Mickey - I love your way of importing but do have one issue that I want to run by you. When I import a group of pictures LR creates not one but two folders each with the same photographs in it.. The second folder is contained within the folder I created as you described in the tutorial. How do I avoid this?

    • @easternshorephotoinstruction
      @easternshorephotoinstruction 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is interesting. It is something you are doing in the process of importing. Could you tell me step by step what you do when importing. I have never had anyone describe that issue before. We could arrange a zoom meeting if you could like so we could go over your process if it continues.

      @@easternshorephotoinstruction G'day Mickey and thank you for responding to my question regarding importing images using your method. I store all of my images on an external hard drive (G-drive) using the following hierarchy. Year > by date (month and day >> subject so it looks like this: 2024 > 04 April > 2024-04-30 Flicker . My downloading process is as follows: Step 1. Right click on 04-April folder and select "Create folder inside 04 April" from the drop-down menu. Step 2. Name the new folder - 2024-04-30 "Flickers" for example. Step 3. Right click on the new folder (Flickers) and select "Import to this folder." Step 4 Check in righthand column to see that the 2024-04-30 Flickers folder in highlighted in the G-drive. Step 5. Select source in the left hand column and select the pictures I want to import. Step 6 Click the import button at the bottom of the righthand panel. At this point when I check the new Flicker folder the left panel I have the following - 2024>2024-04-30 ----- 36 pictures and then below it I have a second folder showing 2024-04-30 --- 36 pictures. If I delete a picture in the lower folder it also deletes in the upper folders. I'm wondering if there's something I don't recognize in the LR preferences that is causing this to happen? I'm 78 and not very computer literate so I hope you'll excuse my ignorance. peterk45@comcast.net, 719-650-8925

      Hey...don't apologize for the age thing. I am getting close....as we all are....that is why we have something like this..to help each other out. First I would check in Lightroom Preferences > Lightroom Sync tab. There is a LOCATION window. Make sure the "Use subfolders created by capture date" is not checked. Then I would check the Destination tab when you are in the import mode. There is a dropdown called ORGANIZE. Make sure 'by date' is not in that drop down. That may also be the problem. I have 'Into one folder' selected for my imports. Let me know if this helps solve your problem.

      @@easternshorephotoinstruction Wonderful Mickey. It turns out that "by date" was checked and now, having unchecked it, LR is importing as you described in the tutorial. Thanks very much for your assistance. I'm now a happy camper!

    Hello Mickey, I transfer my photos from the camera to an external disk where I have created a folder (RAW) all my photos go there. Once the subfolder is created, I drag it to the LrCC Icon in the menu bar of my MacBook Pro, LrCC opens automatically with the photos I am transferring, then I click Import. Once in LrCC I choose the ones I want and delete the others, in my case I transfer the chosen ones to a "Collection folder" I have never had problems with lost photos, LrCC works better with all the photos in one place, less subfolder and the use of "Collection"

      Collection creation is another way to go. I have a few friends that follow your process. I guess it just depends on what you are comfortable with and what works best for you. That is one of the reasons I like LRCC so much. Severals ways to accomplish the same task. Gives everyone the freedom to develop a workflow they are comfortable with.

    Strange, I just use the lens correction button that lightroom provides. Works perfect every time.

    • @easternshorephotoinstruction

      In some instances LR transform tool will do fine. In other instances it works but you lose canvas space due to corrections. In those instances you may need to use a different tool. That is what I am trying to show. So depending what happens when you try to correct the distortion, will determine what tool you use to correct lens distortion. Never hurts to have more than one tool to correct an issue. Options are your best friend. Thanks for the comments!
