Saab Stories
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 มี.ค. 2024
We drive Saab. These are your stories.
Since becoming the owner of my first Saab in December '23 I have experienced a great love and sense of family from other owners, creating a true feeling of community surrounding this quirky, charming and endearing Swedish car manufacturer.
Growing up with numerous Saabs as the family car, with my parents behind the wheel, I have always aspired to pilot my very own. "Born from Jets" was the tag line, and I have to say they truly do feel like more than "just a car".
We all have different reasons why we love the brand, and choose to drive their cars. Despite their closure some years ago, there is still a deep desire and affection held for the name and what they created, with many stories still to be told.
On this channel I will be travelling up and down the UK meeting owners, admiring their cars and hearing their fascinating stories.

Old Finnish proverb: There is only one Car. Thou shall not call other motor vehicles "Car". 🇸🇪🇫🇮💪
Name two-stroke is always a special place for customers as well as for staff.
Without doubt!
Nearly 1000 views in just ONE day?! You guys…! Thank you each and every one of you for your support. We do this for you all.
On my 4th Saab sort of I've currently got a Caddy BLS 2.0T. 1st a 900 Turbo SE convertible which my late mum bought brand new. Followed by an 05 9-3 convertible vector followed by a 57 plate 9-3 Sportwagon vector CDTi. I have heard of Michael's business & if I didn't live in Leeds probably would have used him. Probably my Cadillac will be my last Saab sadly.
@@jeremywentworth1833 well you’ve certainly had enough to be a true Saab fan regardless what else you own!
My BLS is as much as Saab as my 1st 900 which I'm sure you know.
@ I didn’t but now I do thanks :).
@@SaabStoriesWhat your a Saab fan &; you didn't know a Cadillac BLS was a Saab 9-3 it was even designed by Saab & built at Trollhatten , infact to be truthful it's more a Saab than both my convertibles I owned as they were made by Valmet who are just a contract car builder. The reason I bought a BLS was just to be different & as they are rarer they hold their value better than the equivalent 9-3.
@ we learn as we go! Only been a saab owner for a year, so I learn from every person we speak to. Thanks for the info !
I had a long chat with Michael when my 9-3 was in for its service a month or so ago and he told me the news and explained the reasons why. So sad to lose such a great SAAB specialist who always did a great job at a reasonable price. I never had any problems with them in the eleven years that I have been going to them with my 9-3 and would always recommend them to others. I wish Michael and all the remaining staff the best of luck for the future, wherever it takes them. Great video as always and already looking forward to the next one.
@@keefensera2004 thank you my dear friend! Working on something really special for the next one!
When are they actually closing down?
@@alterfart within the next two weeks, whilst they finish the last resto job and sell off the remaining equipment I believe.
A sad loss to us all. I have had 4 of the best cars I've ever owned from Michael . All the best to you for the future Mickey. Lee Rogers.
I’m sure Michael will be reading these kind comments. He knows how valued his customers are, and the many lives he has changed. I’m Sure he will be touched by your comment here.
This is really gutting. I bought a restored 900 Carlsson from 2Stroke and they did a fantastic job. Louis was really instrumental in getting that project over the line, and I’m so appreciative of him and the rest of the team!
We would love to talk to you for the channel! Awesome car!
@ sure! Let me know how best to contact you
@@IndianaJonosaabstoriesuk@gmail.com is best!
Even though you’re in England (and I’m not) every Saab shop that turns out the lights makes me sad… Very sad…
Sad. Well presented.
What real shame😢 they will be surely missed.
Absolutely, an incredible team the saab world will massively miss.
Another great episode! Really enjoy this series. Keeps me motivated on my 93 aero project
So sad 😭 How will the Saab comnunity survive without Saab workshops so sad 😭 Great video ❤
Sad news that you you are stopping, we’ll miss you 😢
Deeply sad. Glad I got to chat with them, even if it was at the end of their story.
Hah, one of my comments at the end there! ❤❤❤
Glad you spotted that!
Big loss for the community. My two 900s were going to be visiting them
This is such a huge loss to the saab community - we had been wanting to get my 900 turbo booked in for some major work again - they've helped us out SO much before, and gone above and beyond time and time again. There's nowhere that can compare to what they did.
Great episode and nice editing. Truly a bittersweet story though... &( That's such a shame that Two Stroke to turbo is closing down as I have been meaning to take my car to them to check on a couple of issues... :( Any ideas as to who I should go to now in the Cambridgeshire area?
@@waicheung101 Thankyou for watching ! We also missed the boat to have our 93 looked at by them, though I know from this episode that it would have been in exceptionally safe hands. As for Cambridgeshire there’s Buckingham Stanley in cambridge itself that could be worth a look, but I also highly recommend talking to the saab community as many owners do their own servicing and repairs. Good luck and thanks for checking out our channel! Do be sure to like and subscribe to check out our future episodes !
@SaabStories I haven't had great experiences with Buckingham Stanley so even though they are local to me if rather go elsewhere...
@ I haven’t used them personally. Why not ask the community?
Check out Tom’s channel, and strap in for one hell of a ride !
What no one ever explains is: what does your insurer think of the mods?
What a loss to the world, Saab were so unique!
Absolutely, and I don’t think everyone sees that.
@@SaabStories Thank you, what other car manufacturer would have thought to install an engine in backwards and bolt the gearbox underneath the engine? I don't know why but they drive beautifully and just pure quality. Saabs are a freak of engineering especially the classic 99's, 900's & 9000's and probably others. I own 3 classic Saabs and each are very different to the other but all are such a nice place to be for different reasons. Why are cars not built like this today? It's sad!
@ eccentricity and innovation :)
Lovely interview with your dad and his SAAB history! Nice to hear he owned a 9000 amongst a range of cars. I was shocked to hear of his Rover 800 experiences, pretty poor. I owned a few examples of the more powerful Rover 827 (2.7) V6, in manual form in both saloon and later coupe form. They were excellent cars and performed very well. I still own a Rover in the form of a 1974 P6B 3500S, alongside my lovely 1997 9000 manual Aero.
Mark says in your film that its 'most unusual for a SAAB owner to own a 9000', interesting comment...WHY? When he is also driving a 9-3 AERO based on a GM Vauxhall floor pan. Yes the 9000 was based on a FIAT generated floor pan shared through a number of Italian marks, but SAAB had a lot of input into their 9000 more than many people think, more 9000s sold than any of the other versions.
@@marknelson5929 they aren’t very common in the UK and weren’t as coveted as they are these days. Misunderstood I would say. We had one as a family but I don’t believe they were hugely popular when they came out in the UK
Greetings from Australia - great film. Always fancied a SAAB and finally did something about it a year ago. Finally found a nice 1997 9000 AERO 5-speed after a long search, which hadn't been thrashed and was well looked after, including a Quaife LSD. It still looks new, in all areas, paint and interior trim, no rust+ etc. The 9000 AERO seats are a joy.
@@marknelson5929 luxury am I right?! Welcome to the channel we hope you enjoy our content!
Not quite sure what you mean by 'luxury' in your reply. But it's a great channel, nice to hear from the various owners re their ownership experiences.
@ glad you like what we are doing :)
Excellent re your hands on style.
I’d buy one after hearing this. Who ever wrote this needs a full time job writing advertisements.
Very interesting episode, both for the SAAB content and the music content. I really wanted a 9-3 Sportcombi when I went out shopping for my 9-3 several years ago, as they are such a great looking and practical car, unfortunately there just weren't any good ones available at the time. Never mind. Very jealous of people who have musical talent and live their dream. Bought an electric guitar and amp many years ago and thought I would see if I was naturally talented. Turns out I wasn't 😂😂 Never mind.
TWO Saabs ... greedy
The silver one is owned by Barry from episode 5!
Yep, we missed a step, make sure you screw down that ring connector to the bolt we pointed out in the video! Must be earthed!
Great episode. As a bandmate, I can confirm you can fit a massive ammount of kit in these estate SAABs!
@@gothnev thanks for the comment! We are keen to get one at some point, they just seem perfect!
Good choice to drive a 9-3, I have a 9-3 SC TTID Linear Griffin -12 with the "Ice block" headlights,( standard from the factory ) Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮

Hello from Australia, just discovered your channel and subscribed. What a lovely meet of SAABs at the Ace Cafe, with owners sharing their stories - the owners experiences really bring it to life. I've had many old English cars in my life, but at the same time always admired SAAB as a maker, personally the 9000 AERO from 1997. Recently after much searching, looking at abused high mileage examples etc I found a 2-owner 1997 AERO 5-speed manual. Very well looked after, interior and exterior like new with full service history. I feel blessed in finding it, they are quite rare in Australia compared to earlier and later GM models.
Thanks so much for watching! How did you find us? Love your search for the perfect saab! We would love to see it! Pop over to our website and hit the contact button :) www.peterbruce.co.uk
