I have discovered that clover smothers other unwanted plants including crabgrass and Bermudagrass. I did nothing. by itself year by year clovers spread over the whole lawn gradually.Crabgrasses were so stubborn, they are all gone!! Later I saw articles on Google supporting this

Maybe you should try Pennington sun and shade mix, smart seed, under that tree. It might take hold.

One praise for crabgrass is, it will grow in oil soaking ground and clean the soil. Another is that it will grow in highly compacted soil and the tuber root system breaks up that compaction to let water and microbes into the soil.

I'm learning a lot about identifying certain weeds and how to control them from your videos. While watching this one I noticed at :46 into it you have on the house downspout a filtering device. u dont need to buy herbicide, mix a bit of salt and some dishsoap with vinegar. and spray the crabgrass. or just pull it out with the roots.

Thanks for the videos. What type of grass you have?

I have it bad enough in my area that some area of grass, especially the shaded ones that already struggle on light budget, just get craters from the helicopter clumps going through the herb and settling as far down as they can, out of reach from lawnmowers, blowers and even rakes. Took me a while to figure out where those craters were coming from, since by the time the damage is done, the helicopters are mostly dissolved. Turns out the best course of action for now is to get the de-thatcher out right after the helicopter fiasco has ended. The sooner, the better, because the other thing that happens quickly is as the helicopters damage the normal lawn, crab grass settles into the craters.
