A quick tutorial on making a basic Zippered Pencil Case or Pencil Pouch. Also a good visual on working with zippers. I make dozens of these for the charity Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is a charity of Samaritan's Purse sending shoeboxes to needy children across the world as a practical form of Evangelism! I am blessing 100 Children with OCC this year on a simple budget of $300. That means each of my boxes will average out to $3.00 each; some a bit more, some less. Operation Christmas Child Frisbee Deal
มุมมอง 5777 ปีที่แล้ว
I made this video to show my friends the awesome Wow item I found for 9 10-14 boys!! Don't be afraid of large items for small shoeboxes! In this case, I saw that these frisbees could fold. With large stuffed animals, you can use elastic bands to make them smaller. And, of course, with lego sets or toys - so much of the size is simply just packaging!

Boy you have a lot of goodies to go in those boxes! The boys will love them!
WOW! Again you have a nice selection of items to fill shoeboxes! ❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏
Several great items there! Gives me some new ideas. Thank you! ❤❤❤
I too was afraid to click on this video because I thought it would be something negative. Thank God it wasn't. I had a chance to serve for a little while at the processing center in Georgia, but had to drive back to Alabama and drop off my sister. I didn't want to leavebso soon. I was having fun. I'll be 70 years old this year and am slower, but I'll never forget that experience. Before and since that time I've been packing shoeboxes and still having fun. God bless all participants whatever the level.
Thank you for sharing your assortment of packing items. Right away I was wondering if you were Canadian. I recognize the accent on "about" and another couple of words. I had a Canadian influence on my accent, since I grew up in Niagara Falls, NY. It is not as noticeable now since Ive lived in California since 1980😊
How nice ! The hand made items are such a love gift ! I am inspired. Bless you M
Can you add homemade or crochet scarfs and toys
I am just now finding this. These are wonderful! Did you ever find out how to share the pdfs? If so, how do I find them?
Yes! But I don’t remember where. Let me look in to it for you :).
Great ideas. Thank you for sharing.
I crocheted soap sacks for my boxes this year, and included a bar of soap, of course. They replace a washcloth, and hold the soap in themselves. I think a friendship bracelet is a great idea, as well as so many of your others!
You had me at Friendship bracelets!!! Love it!!
Thank you for sharing these wonderful ideas.
Wonderful ideas! I have always done the younger kids but this year I am going to also do some older boys
Such a cute shoebox!
Running into my craft room right now to make one. Thanks for the tutorial.
Great idea putting a picture on the outside of the item.
Loved the little containers with nails etc. I am going to make some of those up for my boxes. I love seeing all the different ideas. I buy things on clearance/sale all year long for my boxes.
This is a nice thing u are doing and a great video, we do the boxes every year as well, but u know u can't give used items, all items have to be brand new it says it on their website and we had a representative come to my kids school and tell us the the same thing. They say people who give things that are not in brand New packaging that hasn't been opened, are thrown away or given to good will.
Monique Randolf you are correct about used items. But new items removed from excessive packaging are great for shoeboxes. Think of it as: send the toys, not the garbage :). Plus, you can fit so much more in a box. Please feel free to watch official OCC videos and you’ll see they do the same thing... none of their toys are in packaging. God Bless!
For ages 10 to 14, what sizes do you buy for flip flops, shirts, undies and socks?
Cari Elswick for girls I will buy size 14 or ladies small; for boys I do men’s small but usually a boys 14/16. For socks, often adult socks are sufficient, too big of socks are OK. And for flip flops, my 12yr old niece is my judge.. I buy women’s size 5-7, and men’s size 7-8 usually. Sometimes donated material is slightly different but the person purchasing it may have different experience in sizing so I trust their judgement!
Good job 👍🏼
Can you put your own address in there so they can wright back? X
Chloe King absolutely :). I think I cut that portion of the video out just so I don’t show off my own address on TH-cam ;). It’s a hard concept to grasp, but a lot of these countries have easy access to email too. (They do not have the internet fees us North Americans do). I usually offer both addresses and I haven’t yet been written a snail mail letter but have gotten a few emails and Facebook messages :)
Great tips! 🎄 I’d love more of them! Especially for us Canadians 🇨🇦
How many boxes do you do in a year? That is incredible!! I will have to keep in mind that 10-14 age range is not as popular.
70 in this age/gender :).
Did you make the doll? If so do you have a pdf? Please and thank you. I've been making dresses for girls, making pencil drawstring bags and scrunchies. I have 4 - 18 gallon totes of stuff, 4 boxes and a Christmas tree reusable bag full of stuff. Gonna start packing Sept 28th. I went to the website to print coloring books and all that was there was the first page that I would write my name and where I am from. I love the adult coloring book idea. I have 36 boxes colored pencils, 22 boxes markers, 15 boxes crayons. I love watching your videos. I found 144 toothbrushes individually wrapped on Amazon 15 cents each. 4 toothbrush covers $1 @ dollar tree. 100 soap dish containers on Amazon for $23... julieburnham84@outlook.com Blessings to you and your family!!!
Are you saying that you tried to print out the coloring book I made, and it is only showing as a single page? I can email you some of them. Which ones are you looking for? I did not make the little knitwit doll. I can't knit. I can do a lot of crafty things, but I can not crochet or knit! I have seen these adorable, but simple, dinosaurs sewn from fleece and stuffed with a bit of stuffing... I could find that for you too?
I have made some of these boxes for my shoeboxes this year. Thank you for putting up a tutorial! And I'm so glad you are a fellow shoebox packer from Canada 🇨🇦
Wonderful box! I am always surprised about how low the cost of your boxes are, but I can still tell that there are quality items that would last them a while. The only things that I would add are more pencils, (most of the time, these boxes are the only way for them to get school supplies to last them their entire life. Sometimes parents have to break pencils in half so that all their kids can go to school) pens, another note book, and maybe some blank paper. (paper is really taken for granted here, and is most of the time very expensive in other countries. I always put a lot of paper in boxes, because of how inexpensive they are for me, and how much they can help a child)
My newer boxes have bigger notebooks (thicker) and each child receives a package of pencils. Actually, most of the time what I pack is dependent upon donations and such. When friends and family take joy in finding things for children, I attempt to keep the integrity of what they donated to me for the child they had in mind. On the flip side - I do most of the shopping myself, and I agree - the thin notebooks I found this year (the year the video was taken) are much too thin! :) Enjoy, feel free to check out my other videos for some more ideas. Little baby this year so no video taking probably...
Nice 😍😍😍😍😍
I love this keep doing these videos 🥰
I do sponsor children from World Vision 🥰
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love your videos! Are you making any more this year?
I have more, but haven't edited them, sorry. I have a newborn and too much small children around during this pandemic. Perhaps if school starts!
@@chantellek3982 That's good to hear! But if you aren't able to record, please don't feel pressured to! I hope you and your family well!
Garbage...
The Smurf house toy is cool and unique!
I just love it when shoeboxers cram it full of great stuff. Great job.
awesome lots of stuff.. please dont forget pencils/sharpeners. I make boxes too check them out on my channel
nice.. my family does these boxes check them out on my page..
The dolls are so cute God bless you the kids are going to love your toys and shoeboxes God bless you and your family have a great day God loves you
You can fit small toys socks and marbles inside of water bottle if you needed any idea and also you could put bead and some swing or yawn so they can make some bracelets or tiny toy car and if it's small enough you can also put a teddy bear inside teddy bear are so cute and cuddly 😉😉 God bless you and have a great day remember you are loved by God
Wow!! Thank you so much for sharing. That is amazing!! I'm wondering how long it took you to get your stock?? I love how you have everything set up. Any tips or tricks for us who are living on a fixed budget?
Melanie Vogt I spent $300 for 100 boxes. My tips would be: tell everyone you know what you are doing. I often received donations from ppl at my church, etc. Even a lady would collect zippers for me for my pencil cases :). My other tips would be: Craft what you can/sew- within reason so it doesn’t look like a kids craft. Shop clearance aisles and after holidays - easter is a good one. Also, garage sales will often have new items. In Canada here there is an annual fundraiser done in schools called “Jump Rope for Heart”, every kid is gifted a skipping rope. (So a family with 3 kids will have 6 of these skipping ropes after just 2 school years... most often they are still in the plastic bags!)
Oh, and I started after Christmas- and gathered things until post-Halloween.
How do I contact you, I would like to do 100 hundred boxes.
Ruth Montague I don’t know if there is a way to message on here. What sort of questions about doing 100 boxes do you have? What an ambitious quest! I may/may not be able to again this year as I have a new baby (2 was old) and can’t devote as much time to sewing/shopping/crafting as other years :)
This is the nicest box packing idea I have seen for boys 10-14 year olds!!
debbie stewart thanks Debbie! I did 70 boys 10-14 on about $3 a box, so my budget was tight but they were full and I hope the children enjoyed them!! :).
Love how well those Legos fit in with everything. How many in the pack? Good idea on school supplies. I like the water toy idea, thanks for that too. The legos for sure my favorite item in your box. Thanks for sharing. Great box
Melanie Vogt this is the bigger Duplo. 10-11 rows of Duplo and there is 8 nubs across. It’s not a ton but you could always stack 2 “sheets” if your box has enough space :) I have given my son in the past this amount to play with- and it seems sufficient.
@@chantellek3982 cool. Thanks for getting back. That is very helpful.
I really like watching what others pack. I like your boxes a lot. The little dolls you pack are perfect. Great ideas thank you.
I think it's impossible to get stuff so cheap in the UK :O
Nora Joy I describe myself as one of those extreme couponers... but for shoebox deals ;). So many things came from the very last day a local store was closing it’s doors- they were practically giving stuff away to avoid packing it up :).
@@chantellek3982 I see! I'll have to keep more of an eye out
Dollar general is going to have shoes and clothes for a penny Tuesday I’m going to get them and save them for shoe boxes next year
It looks like you own a store with that much stuff. This Tuesday at dollar general some of the shoes and clothes is going to be a penny and I’m going to save them for shoe boxes next year.
Mel B a great idea! I’m Canadian so we don’t have Dollar General but I have been in one from time to time when stateside shopping :).
I hope your well. Any new videos this year? ❤
Hi Alexis, believe it or not I've been pretty sick most of this year due to a complicated pregnancy. I will not be posting a any new videos this year (I had a lot planned but just can't do it); I'm only managing to pack them, not film. I have a few boxes I filmed last year that I never posted - and perhaps I will post some of those just for some new ideas! Sorry about that! Hope to be back in the swing of things next year!
@@chantellek3982 I hope you feel better soon and thank you for always taking the time to reply. I will pray for you. ❤
I noticed hardly anyone puts hats and gloves in boxes, plus for girls 10-14, I think cloth menstruation pads and deodorant would be a good addition.
Kelly Anderson most boxes go to warm climates, but! kids can feel cold in any climate! My reason is usually due to bulk. Hats and mitts are pretty bulky. I think deodorant is a cultural thing, I could be wrong though. As for menstrual pads, I do not include these for hygienic reasons. I DO donate to a group that gives them out to girls on mission trips and also teaches them how to sanitize and reuse them. Otherwise, I leave well alone. I don’t think that needs to be anyone else’s opinion though and am all for people including them if they feel led to.
I'm packing boxes this year for the first time. I want to volunteer at a Samaritan's Purse warehouse, I think it would be so much fun.
Kelly Anderson the warehouses are a blast to volunteer at! I hope you get the chance to!!
Where did you get the small plastic bags?
Lisa B our dollar store sells them in the craft section. Close to wear you find the beads and scrapbooking supplies. DollarTree I think I shopped at that time.
