Festive Edinburgh - is it really the most beautiful Christmas Market in Europe?
Edinburgh's Christmas Market started 25 years ago as a German Market, and this year it was hailed as the most beautiful Christmas Market in Europe by Solopress and the 8th best Christmas Market in Europe by FatFace brand. Of course, Edinburgh has a certain charm that many European towns can envy: magnificent medieval architecture, a fairytale castle on the rock, modern infrastructure and lots of green space in the city centre where such a market can be located. All these factors combined during the festive period are building up to the success of Edinburgh's Christmas Market. But is it really that great? Google's rating sits currently at 3.4 stars and Tripadvisor's at 2.0. What happened then? Most reviews are focusing on huge crowds, extremely high prices, small size and a lack of Christmas spirit. It is hardly surprising that the Christmas Market hailed as the most beautiful in Europe is bringing crowds to the city. Even less surprising is the fact that huge crowds are causing prices to rise. I must agree that the market is a bit smaller than before the pandemic with fewer stalls and attractions, but it is still a very beautiful event. Also, both rides are cool and exciting, allowing you to see the city from a different perspective. The only problem for me this year was the weather. Late autumn and early winter were marred with storms and hurricanes. Strong winds and grey clouds were most what we could experience for the last two months. No snow whatsoever which can explain complaints about the lack of Christmas spirit. Still, we had lots of fun and enjoyed our outing. The video focuses on the atmosphere we felt there, so let me know if this market deserves the title of the most beautiful or not.

Edinburgh's Christmas market is truly a festive experience that you won't forget in a hurry! 🎄✨ The medieval architecture and the magical castle on the hill make this market very special. Even though the market was a little smaller this year and the quantities and prices were higher than expected, it still retained its charm. 🏰🎡 I can understand why the market is so popular, but the lack of Christmas spirit due to the weather and storms is a shame. Still, it sounds like a great experience and I'm sure the market worked its magic even with its minor flaws. 🌨 I wish you a happy and healthy New Year! 🎄
