The Fiddler, Sgùrr an Fhìdhleir (705m) - Wester Ross - Scotland | 4K | DJI Mini 3 Pro and GoPro 12

The Fiddler, also known as Sgùrr an Fhìdhleir is a mountain in our favourite area between Ullapool and Loch Assynt, on the border between Wester Ross and Sutherland, where many other iconic peaks are located: Suilven, Stac Pollaidh or Cùl Mòr. The Fiddler with its 705 meters is not a difficult mountain at all. The first part of the hike is quite steep, but after 30 minutes of walking, the ascent becomes easier with each step and it doesn't become any more difficult until the peak. The views from the trail are mostly toward the ocean and Summer Isles. To the right, you can see the massive Ben More Coigach and to the left some of the higher peaks of Assynt. But that view changes drastically when we arrive at the top. The panorama of the most beautiful mountains in this area is truly outstanding, especially when we timed it to be at the top at the sunset. Also, the easy ascent is quite misleading, the top of the mountain is not gentle or calm. The 500-meter vertical cliff face is both incredibly beautiful and dizzying. Just 2 meters from the terrifying drop is the best place to pitch a tent, and it is really worth it. In the morning the view is even more beautiful with a high probability of cloud inversion.
