I think we could reframe this discussion via skill floor and skill ceiling. Those advocating for accessibility want a low skill floor. Those who want a top tier competitive game NEED a high skill ceiling. You can NEVER lower the skill floor at the cost of the skill ceiling in a competitive game, or you harm the game. It's that simple. If it doesn't lower the skill ceiling? Perfect, no one cares at the top end. The other thing that is necessary for "personal expression" at the top end is a broad number of actions someone could take at any time.

Honestly I can tell you a few reasons, bland character designs, (minus a few exceptions) bland stages, lack of modes, lack of combo freedom, silence from the dev team, and terrible gameplay. It’s like they tried copying Granblue’s gameplay but dumbed it down even more, I wasn’t a big fan of Granblue either but it won me over and at least I can use it to satiate my Soul Calibur thirst.

Little note: A combo is generally referring to consecutive inputs that juggles the opponent in air. When performing 2 to 5 hits consecutively without true juggle, it is called a string, not a combo 🤓☝️

We have 2 different screens right off the bat. Doesn’t show that on my end

The move list coupled with the reactions I got from other players...starting with very negative reactions was my first big experience.. The notation didn't help as it had nearly nothing to do with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat notation (My first 2 non Smash bros fighting games)...and I'm still struggling to figure out it all intuitively. The strong incentive to specialize into only one or two characters is also something that is strong in this game that I am not entirely familiar with as well.

This is legit a 2 for 1 deal since Reina is my number 1 character in Tekken 8 (I am trying to learn King and a couple others its not going great)...researching such stuff because I want to both maintain Warrior and seek Vanquisher I don't feel like I can truly do this without elevating my technique. This seems to be part of the missing piece the other will be for me to research Reina techniques further and of course grinding there is no substitute in the end for grinding.

has it always been 1 or 2 to break generic throws or is this new too tekken 8? i swear on 7 you had to break 1+3 with 1 and break 2+4 with 2.

What is the best character to fight against him in practice tool if i wanna try combos. Against some chars my combo works, but some are too small to get perfect hit. Who one char should i fight?

@DaikenFGC I found this hugely successful and helpful as a guy who wants to learn Zafina as his main character but, isn’t quite sure where to start this is going to be extremely helpful as well as your other guides on the game.
