After Memorial Day weekend, when the Fourth of July trailhead opens, this is a relatively short approach of 2.6 miles to the b...

One Of the Best Traverses in Colorado: Little Bear Blanca Traverse
มุมมอง 592ปีที่แล้ว
The Little Bear to Blanca Peak linkup is one of the most technical and challenging mountaineering challenges found on Colorado's 14ers. The traverse is rated Class 4, but features several 5.5 moves, blurring the line on the difficulty rating. But this only makes the iconic, rocky ridge traverse that much more attractive to Colorado's diehard mountaineers. The linkup begins by ascending Little B...

      You’re welcome. Just take into consideration precipitation. If the clay roads, for example to the wave, where most people desire going receive too much precipitation they can become impassable. You can get many alternate and additional places to see at the wave lottery, or ranger station.

  • @schmeebot7903
    @schmeebot7903 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you very much for posting this video. The drone footage is awesome. I'm planning on heading up this weekend so it's very helpful to see. How long did it take you car-to-car? Was it hectic crossing the creek? Was there a berdschrund at the edge of the glacier where the chute begins? If so, how did you manage to cross it? There's also a lot of snow in the chute. Were you able to avoid it by climbing on the exposed rock ridges? I apologize for the bombardment of questions. I would send an email but your contact information isn't available. If you have a trip report somewhere, it would probably answer all these questions. If not, I would appreciate getting any information you care to share. Thank you.

    • @greatheights7774
      @greatheights7774 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thuy bot your very welcome Thuy! I started at 5am. It took 14.5hrs total trip. The river crossing was still very treacherous. Use the birch trees bent over the river to cross by standing on some, and holding o to the others. There are snow fields after finger lake. They have deep sun buckets in them but are better than walking on the scree. There is a bergshrund so I got onto the rock south of the red band. There was not much snow left in the chute and what was there was melting fast so you are able to avoid the snow in the chute. I brought 3 pairs of shoes. River crossing pair, an approach shoe with good traction on the snow (no crampons needed) and a rock scrambling pair. Best of luck!

      thuy bot unfortunately not. I forgot my fenix 3 at home. There are some good trip reports out there and once at finger lake you can see the route and direction you need to take very well.
