On this channel, you will be able to watch videos about how I've created passive income through investing in short-term vacation rentals. There will be some videos on how to create wealth, some videos on how to retire early, some videos about my travels, and probably some videos just for fun.
My mission is to change your mentality on retirement aka "Retirementality". In today's world, retirement doesn't mean working until your 65 and then sitting on a beach. It is more about achieving Financial Freedom early in life so you can sit on a beach and work remotely, or work for 6 months and take a year off, or whatever your dream might be.
Thanks for stopping by. Check out some videos and hopefully you will find value in them and want to subscribe so you don't miss anything.

Should you Pay Off Mortgage or Invest in Stock Market
If you are trying to retire early, or just retire at some point, you will ask yourself if you should pay off the mortgage early or invest in the stock market. And this is a tough questions. It's not as simple as looking at the interest rate on your mortgage and the average returns of the stock market.

Relax, You Don't Need To Retire By 20, 30 (Or 40)
My parents weren’t this strick🤪.
The MAGA movement (boomers -- 60somethings) has a LOT to do with the effects of pensions disappearing a lot faster than just for Xers. MAGA is filled with boomers that lost/never got their pensions, forced to take SS at 62 (embarassingly small amounts), and have little idea how to invest in stocks in your 401lk properly. I think youre off by one generation. Look at how many boomers are now homeless in CA and AZ.
My wife and I are moving there in 2 years. We love PR. We go 3-4 times a year.
Slow & steady wins! I agree. I am looking for a like minded group of entrepreneurs. I have lost some friends along the way. I am looking for an inspiring group of people to be around. Thanks for this video. Gives me a lot to think about (Why?).
My mother lives in Juana Diaz and its ok. I'm basically what you call a NY Rican and retired US Navy. Really looking forward to buying property in PR to reside and to rent out. Greatly appreciate the content.
Wow, I know I'm late to the game and just watching all of your videos, I am so sorry you had to go through this. I truly hope it all paid off in the long run. Keep up the great content.
First and foremost I am new to the channel, well done on the entire remodeling process. Well done. Greatly appreciate the content, you have definitely showed me great Pros & Cons on purchasing and remodeling a home. Thank you. Also, sorry the Missy is always right. LOL
Yes please more details about the roof and how much it cost. What can they use to provide a good sealant for the roof to prevent leaks?
Love the concept and it makes a lot of sense. I was wondering how you'd manage the wealth tax in Spain when that was your plan. Hope your FL home base at present is safe during this storm! Cheers, Eric @2SFI
I truly love the content, please keep it up. I will truly utilize what you have provided to get my ball rolling with regards to buying property in Puerto Rico. Thank you
I have been following all of your videos now and love the progress on how you guys started and where you are at right now. Well done maintaining your professionalism. Please keep it up. Love the topics of Pros & Cons. I am truly looking forward to the roller coaster ride. LOL
I know this video is 4 years old, but greatly appreciate the detail information. I a m retired US Navy and looking to fully retire in about 5 years but also looking to buy a nice vacation home in Puerto Rico. Thank you very much about the detail information greatly appreciate. We started looking and you are absolutely noticed that the homes are over price. I look forward to chatting more and learning more from your topics. Thank you.
If you want a preview of hell, move into one of these places. They are poorly managed and this generation working in these places is incompetent.
In the Bay Area, 3 millions net worth is like the middle class.
Great video! Thank you.
I like you
Thanks! We are looking at what works and won't work for us. No kids is a deal breaker, but those amenities are amazing.
My answer is no🤣
Where are you putting your money then?
This is exactly what we think is a great middle ground. Our home will be paid off so we can travel 3+ months per year in big chunks at a time without feeling like we're paying a mortgage for nothing, and then come back HOME.
Yea, my house is expensive to own so we are contemplating some where cheaper for a home base. But, we are people that need a home base for sure.
Yes, if you and your wife have decent jobs. My father lives in Panama City Florida, He has to move out, he is 87 he has lived there 37 years. His wife passed away a few years ago so he has only one income. but when the hurricane hit that wiped out a few businesses the price of insurance shot up to the point he couldn't afford it. They are building 300K to 400K homes in the area good luck getting insurance.
That sucks. It is definitely a more expensive here than it used to be. If he needs help selling his house, let me know. I'm a Realtor and I can try to help him get the most money he can. You can't even get a single family house in Panama City Beach for $300K anymore.
They should've just called us the discarded generation. Unloved, unsung, and unwanted because that's the way we were treated then and now
Amazing knowledge (thank you)
I live in one and love it. I have great neighbors and lots to do here. Going to Karaoke tonight. Also much cheaper than living in a house. HOA is awesome as it covers everything. Also we have maintenance that fixes everything. We can only have two pets. Glad they have that rule. This place would be a mess without rules. Backyard? We don't have that. lol So much cheaper than rent. Mine has been here since 1962. Places are selling for more all the time here. We have medical onsite and close to a hospital. We have great people here and great clubs. No clicks or gossip. We have over 10,000 residents. We don't pay extra for using things here. All is included and awesome. The gym is kept up and current. Has awesome machines. You can't say any of this as is may vary in each community. Not so in mine.
That's great. It sounds like you found a really good. Some people love them and some don't just need to do your research to find a good one.
Great video! I’ve watched your videos for about 2 years now. 👌🏽
Thank you... and thank you for the support over 2 years.
I’m 21 me and my wife have a daughter and we’re split between moving to key west , st Thomas or Sicily since that’s where my fam is from, I have roughly 7 million liquid , what’s your suggestion?
If you have $7M liquid at 21 I'd say you've won the game and you can do whatever you want. Spend some time in place and see what you like the best. Congrats.
This should be re-titled the many reasons not to retire in Puerto Rico, including the extreme heat, excessive Wendy beaches with non-clear waters the relentless ants at the beach, the losing battle with the termites and ants at home, exorbitant prices for basic foods and consumer items, erratic driving and the limited, and much much more. Basically the only reason to live there is if you have a Puerto Rican wife and St. Thomas is more expensive.
Ha! It's not for everyone, that's for sure. But we love going there. I think the food options are a big deal for us in thinking about if we'd retire there full time.
I’m 76 and do my own research
I guess that's why you're watching videos like this. That is the only way. Are you leaning towards or away from this type of living?
It is good to retire in Puerto Rico if you pay $0 on the land of your house, just for one reason not to have another house on top of your house, it is ridiculous to hear that but that is how it is
Yea, there are some areas where you can get a big chunk of land pretty cheap.
Okay, I think the HOA problems are directly related to Strata living which can turn bad for ANY age group if the Council and By-laws are not good. But a very real problem is the mindset. As people age they stop wanting to invest in upkeep. So you have buildings etc that become poorly maintained because "I don't care, I'm going to be dead before it falls apart." Interesting video. Very thought provoking!
That's a good point. I know a guy in his 60s and every time he buys something or fixes something he always "that's the last time I have to do that".
This is the best of all the stupid “retire early” TH-cam videos. I foolishly allowed myself to be influenced by the guys encouraging viewers to retire. There were others in my life who encouraged me to hang it up too. I was suicidal after a few months with anxiety, remorse, loss of status, purpose and income, etc. I’m a year into retirement now. A part-time job, lots of prayer, exercise, therapy, living one day at a time, and by the grace of God I’m still here. Best wishes and may God bless and heal all of us.
Wow, that's quite a story. I'm glad you are adjusting and getting it figured out. Don't forget to find some fun things to do. They don't have to cost money. But, just getting out of the house can make you feel better too. Good luck and I hope you continue to figure out your new life and find joy in it.
Retired a year ago at 60 with a modest government pension. Worst mistake of my life. Oh how I wish I could turn back the clock. Peace be with all of you.
It's a big transition but I hope you find a new routine and it becomes easier and more enjoyable.
Jeff, this makes total sense. More people in the country of any kind leads to more demand for housing. I think this is also the cause of much homelessness. The other issue is that some markets have excess housing and others are in high demand. This shift in where people are living doubles up on the housing shortage.
Great points about the shift in where people want to live. We will see how this video ages over the years. There is a lot of unknowns about how this will play out over the 5-10 years.
Jeff, only 600 views. I just discovered that TH-cam stopped showing me your videos about 6 months ago. Not a very friendly algorithm.
I know it is crazy. I'll do a video that 10K views and then one that gets 500. It is frustrating. Thanks for your support.
Bro…..stay on topic.
Ha, I don't like to use a script and sometime a shiny object distracts me.
I just hate any type of HOA that's all you have in most parts of Florida not for me.
Yea I live in a neighborhood without and HOA and we all keep our yards looking great without anyone telling us to do so. Amazing.
Do you really want someone telling you who can visit & stay. Meanwhile you have tp pay to be told what to do 🙄
Yea, I don't think it's for me.
There’s a difference between 55 and older places and senior places
For sure. And for some it's an attractive choice and a good way to meet similar people.
Taxes are way too high in Puerto Rico. Everything is more expensive but specially food and utility costs. Utility services are absolutely terrible. Expect outages a few times a month, every month. Cars are about 30% more expensive as well. Healthcare is absolutely awful. All these things will bite you, eventually. It wont take long really. Are these worse places in the world? Definitely. But, there are MUCH nicer places to retire in within the lower 48 unless you like hot and humid weather year round, beaches, island life and can deal with all the problems.
A lot of people think its a cheap place to live. That's why I try to do these videos. It can be a great place for some people and terrible for others. But, you need to know what you're getting into.
Your t-shirt is brilliant! It's my first time seeing that revamped FIRE definition, and it makes a whole lot of sense for what ends up happening so often.
Thank you! I'm trying to change people's idea about FIRE one at a time. 😀
Lol... prices are ridiculous
Housing is still a lot cheap than where I live in FL but cost of living isn't cheap.
@@TheRetirementality I disagree. I'm looking at both West Palm Beach and Puerto Rico and WPB is cheaper, nicer and more safe. Better roads, better infrastructure, no power outages...
I agree with HOA. If no HoA, you deal with junky, hoarder neighbors… I don’t like people bullying me or bothering me and getting in my business.
yep, pros and cons on both sides of the equation.
These communities are loaded with gossip, gossip, gossip........ So, if you like your privacy stay away from these communities!
I just went and visited a friend of mine in Montana and he lives in a town of 800 where everyone know your business. Same thing. 😂
Thanks for the info. I live in Florida and want to move to Spain.
There is a lot of research to do. I'll do more videos on the subject and I continue my own research. Good luck.
350K will get you a Small 1Bed 1Bath in San Juan.
Yea more expensive up there for sure.
Great! Thank you for sharing. Subscribing to the channel after seeing this.
Thanks. Be sure to check out more of my videos.
My husband and I are 60 & 64 and moved into a new 55+ community 3 years ago. There are both sides. Our community is very small (only 89 homes) and our HOA fees include mowing but are still higher than average at $308/mo. We found out after the developer turned over the community to the homeowners that he was shady and he is currently in bankruptcy. I have made a few friends here, but there are may cliques. Since the homeowners have taken over, we have a bunch of people who have no clue how an HOA should be run and they thrive on thinking they have some kind of power. LOL Our restrictions are not onerous like the ones you mentioned, but they are currently trying to amend ours to say how long you can have yard decorations and for what holidays, etc. which I find ridiculous. This is the first time we ever lived anywhere with an HOA and I would say this is probably typical with any HOA, not just 55+. The people we have who serve on our Board are terrible. They are not leaders but think they know everything and are not transparent about any of their business. Just one example, they recently enacted a "Fine Schedule" which was supposed to be voted on by the homeowners. Not only was it not voted on, they never told anyone prior or subsequently. My neighbor found the Amendment buried on the Prop. Management website. They still have not ever announced it or sent a copy to everyone. They do a lot of stuff in secrecy and the Board President actually said, "We are raising the HOA fees because we can." At the present, we cannot afford to move with interest rates so high right now. I do not ever wish to live in an HOA subdivision period 55+ or otherwise. If you plan on living in ANY HOA, get a copy and read them word for word or better yet, have an attorney review them.
UGG, that sounds rough. That is one of the biggest problems with an HOA is they can change the rules. I hope it gets better if you decide to stay. Interest rates may come down a little but I've been saying on this channel for years that interest rates are supposed to be around 6%. So don't think there will be any big dips. Maybe since the owners taking over is new that they will settle down and get it figured out. Good Luck.
We got a good description of how bad the women in these communities are (Karens). But there was nothing about the men. How are they in these communities? And what slur do we call them that's equivalent to Karen when they don't behave as we think they should?
I think the internet is calling them Kevins. 😂 And I'm sure they are just as bad. Men tend to get more grouchy the older we get. And if they can't yell at the kids to stay off their lawn they will have to find someone to yell at. 😂
@@TheRetirementality Okay, Kevins. The trouble is I like the names Karen and Kevin. I kind of wish we just called them gossips and grouches.

Puerto Rican here. Please please please if you move to Puerto Rico all I ask is that you use Spanish in public. It is something that we are very proud of. We will really really appreciate it. And you will become part of our history since our ancestors also came from France and Italy and Ireland and they all learned Spanish. Please don't divide Puerto Rico between whites and blacks and latinos. If you come to Puerto Rico aprenda español. Gracias❤
But we are stupido gringos
No one speaks English in the part of PR where my house is, so I don't have a choice. 👍
@@nmnopnonld3ti but us stupido gringos speak **English
Puerto Ricans cry for days I'd you suggest they "learn the language" when in the states. Also, youre very proud of the Spanish Language?? Think I'll just be as respectful and polite as I'd expect to be treated and remain unbothered if my broken Spanish damages anyone's fragile sensibilities.
Too Late !
A lot of people who live in 55+ communities are parents that have had problems with their kids
Oh I didn't that about that angle... so then the kids can't move back in. Good idea.
