How do you like driving without the plastic splash guard?

For those watching not knowing much on how the Toyota Hybrid works, the rectangular box is the inverter Assembly, which has a DC-DC boost converter as well as 2 VFD to generate the 3 phase AC waveform to drive the 2 motors or generate electricity individually. The boost converter increases the battery voltage to 600V as well as regulate the voltage for charging the Hybrid battery. There is a controller inside the inverter Assembly which talks to the PCM.

My 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE has regular LED bulbs that you can actually replace instead of the entire assembly Thank God! But they started doing that from 2018 and up 🙏 but i still have the upgraded 2.5 liter engine I would do 5k oil change with those fram filters they start to collapse after that because the top and bottom center caps are made of cardboard but you can't see it because it's inside the canister my Camry has the cartridge style filter but I started doing 3k oil changes after my car reached 100k MI but before that i was doing 5k do to what i heard from a Toyota master technician (car care nut) really helpful channel especially for Toyota/Lexus/Scion

Did you ever changed the hybrid battery?

I guess you are supposed to disconnect the coolant rubber hose going to the EGR when doing the engine coolant replacement. You fill it up until coolant comes out when you are pouring it in the radiator. You then reconnect the hose and then start the bleeding process you normally do for a hybrid. I think this is the procedure for the A25A and M20A engines from Toyota.

Hybrids always cost more in parts, the scam is known. The way i have mine affordable is do regular preventitive maintence and that always requires planning and money at milage at major mile stones, 50k trans oil, 80k struts, 100k plugs, trans oil, coolant, thermostat and water pump. I normally stockup early on my parts before reaching them 10k ahead and have stayed above water. I dont recommend hybrid to budget mined people because they tend to cheap out and the car ends up being junked.

I'm not a Toyota fan by any means, but I'm really happy with their commitment to hybrid engines instead of fully electric

The engine bay looks like a dust storm hit it. I regularly wash my prius prime engine bay once a month to make working on my car a less messy affair as i do all my own work. I also own a tesla model 3 its not complicated its much simpler but complicated by software. The toyota feels more refined but the tesla is the superior ev then the prius prime.

What's at the top next to the engine is the inverter. The electric motors are underneath the inverter, and are part of the transmission, and not really accessible. They don't require maintenance, or fail either. The last thing that will fail will be the transmission. Anyway, 500K miles, impressive. Maintenance is indeed similar to a normal car, barring any major components failure, which is unlikely, Toyota hybrids are extremely reliable. Furthermore, the maintenance is less, as you don't have accessories and accessory belts. What you can't do though, is wrench on on anything being part, or next to the high voltage system. As for the high voltage battery, it is designed to last a very, very long time. It's operating in the 20-80% range (never full, never depleted), it is air-cooled, and doesn't stress much, really. Time will take its toll, but it's at minimum a ten years replacement item, that you can refurb or replace for 3K. Not that bad. Toyota hybrids are awesome. That or Honda hybrids, the rest, I wouldn't bother with.

Heck, I bought an 09 Prius back in Nov with 246K miles. It had the original battery, and it was still getting high 30 and low 40s in mpgs. I had it replaced last month just cuz it kept going into the last two bars too much. Its working just fine. 💪🏾 2019 or older = hybrid battery 8 years/100k miles 2020 and newer = hybride battery 10 years/150k miles.

Do you use the 0W16 oil?

A flat Plywood could lay over the reclined passenger seat and rear seat. It would sit higher up to the ceiling, but would prevent removal of the passenger seat. Also if high enough you get more headroom up in the dashboard area. You can get a square fan that wedge between the window, you need 2 fans, one that suck the air in and one that blow the air out. An open icebox only need to be left open in the car, the circulation will cool the car. Get an induction stove with a portable rechargeable inverter.

Oh, those hybrid batteries can last 15+ years. Back in November I bought an '09 Prius with 246,000 miles, and it had the original battery in it. I was still getting mpgs in the high 30s and low 40s when it was not cold outside, but I decided to get it replaced earlier this month.

If possible try not to cook in car you're going to get all the smoke to soak into fabric and you're going to attract insects. I would say boiling water at most coffee soup Ramen type stuff but any real cooking beware.

Thank you dude! Now i know how to change ecvt fluid on my 2020 corolla hybrid. But i would use Ramps + jack stands instead of lifting jack, would feel so much safer during the process.
