Friends Don't Let Friends Invest in Bad Variegation | Why Low Variegation Rare Plants are a Rip Off
I’ve got quite a few I have to do this spring - not long to go now here in New Zealand 🇳🇿 🎉
Wishing you luck!
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet thanks, I need it. I hate repotting 😂😂
Question, why is the color of the plant at the end not good? What does that mean?
It’s supposed to be a variegated plant and there’s hardly any variegation that’s all
Hello friend! Omg, she’s a beauty! Which anthurium is this?
I don’t even remember, this was a WHILE ago haha
Hopefully😂😂😂... You got me cracking there😂
Yay
I love how real you are. 😂
Someone’s gotta
Damn that albooooo! Aa.
It’s been a labor of love and it still won’t get any bigger 😵💫
I have a velvet maria that's starting to get bigger but throws a tantrum when I try to lower the humidity and the leaves get all wilted so then I throw a bag back on it 😅 sigh maybe I'll just get it a bigger cloche thingy
See this might be an exception to this. I def wouldn’t do this with a queen or a splendidum
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet yeah it's like the whole plant wilts in a few hours and then pops back with a wet bag over it. I might try again after this leaf hardens up, maybe keep a dry bag on it see how that goes if I can change it more slowly.
Lolol I learned to not even look at my plants while drunk. Mistakes have been made
Hahahahaha oh I fucked up a gog monstera last week stone cold sober so my expectations for my decisions are aways low
I hope that all is great with you. You and your videos are greatly missed. You inspired me in the plant world.
Thank you! I’ve been posting shorts again this week. I just don’t have the time to make the long videos anymore.
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreetI miss them but happy to hear your busy.
Is this for real? I was hoping you'd return some day!
Hahahahaha yeah I’m just shortening my tiktoks and reposting them here. Don’t have the energy or time to make the full length videos anymore but I can bring myself to eff around with posting shorts a few times a week at least.
What year is it?!
Lmao, right?
Ha ha! I was thinking of making a wine & plants channel you're egging me on here. 😅
Do it but also just be aware of how much editing goes into removing the slurping sounds in post production. I tried to do something where I drank coffee at the beginning and it was so hard to edit, I gave up haha
I love watching your videos. This video was hilarious. 😂 Your plant friend from Canada, Marcel
Do you keep them in pons?
I do!
So happy to see you on here
Surprise ❤️
Oooo if that is the dad, the hybrid will be so cool.
Crossing my fingers so hard! I’m almost 100% sure I actually pollinated the inflo with pollen from him and then forgot about it… other option is that the Chrystal mag got the job done. A lot of the seedlings look really flat at the top so fingers crossed.
"I'm 110% sure he's the dad!"😂. It's worth it to be able to monitor their progress all from one location...at least until you have to move them again. (I'm not saying that from any real personal experience, but it seems correct lol)
I really hope he is bc if so the seedlings are about 1000x cooler than if it’s the Chrystal mag or the dark Chrystal. Some of them have really flat tops and some are super fat and heart-shaped so we shall see! Only time will tell.
Beautiful plants! Yay, for seedligs.
Thank you!
Last sunday was busy, working at hospital. 😅. Glad your sunday was good tho.
Hope you have some days off soon!
Yay new repotting hell!❤
It really never stops, I swear
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet I bet 😂
I know this is old but if you still got that splendidum I found a 6 gallon glass had after watching that care video
I still have it and it’s actually doing pretty well! I’m hoping to get it its own milsbo once I have space.
I love my big plants!!!
So happy to see you making content again! ❤
Thank you!
Ahhh! I was just thinking how unfortunate it was to find another Planty TH-camr I liked to add to the list of 2, only to find that you were no longer active. So this makes my bitter heart warm as I trudge through my own repotting hellscape
I’ve been feeling the itch… who knows, if I can find a less intense video editing software I might drop a video every now and then
What software were you working on? I know in an old vid you mentioned device limitations, but I might have some suggestions. Otherwise I’ll happily enjoy the short form, and if there are any other platforms we can connect I’d love to know!
I boil the crap of out of it. I also boiled LECA when I used it a few times, but not a big fan of it.
Yeah I find LECA is really tricky so I don’t really use it much anymore
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet My mistake was when I firt purchased them, they were the big balls and I don't like that they were all shaped differently. Someone said those were the best for roots. I like the small uniformed ones. I mix those with Pumice, bark, etc. to make a nice mix my plants love.
My Sunday was fairly relaxing, good to see you and the Hoya blooms!
Yay! Glad to hear it ❤️
Maybe your plant has a disease
Which disease do you think it would have? It’s a highly variegated plant that had some root rot and was probably too close to the grow light. Pretty sure I solved the mystery.
You're back! 🎉🎉🎉
Kind of trying to post a few shorts and things on tiktok here and there… kind of feeling motivated again 💙
I LOVE this video. It’s straight and direct. Not meaning to bash other creators, but sometimes they kind of go off on different topics. This stays consistent and have been wanting to try pon for months and this is the very video that convinced me to try it. Thank you 🙏
Ok, thank you for saying that bc I worked really hard to script this video out!
Hey, i got a thai constellation from walmart for 40$. Such a pretty plant. But i definitely over paid even though it has very nice fenestration already.
We’ve been seeing them pop up in garden centers around America for really cheap for a while… hope we start getting them in California soon
Love seeing all of these fancy plants. But id gladly stick with my Brazil, micans, and other easy cheap plants lol.
Very understandable! This video is a little old now so most of these are no where near this expensive these days.
There’s ilsemanii cuttings for $300
Ahh! I have that same sweatshirt! Love it
You have excellent taste!
I would not keep a Persimmon Princess if someone gave ot to me. Ithink it is ugly. And even if I had money to burn, I would not buy a Firebird or especially the V. Pink Micans. The one that, if I had the money, I really love is the V. Burle Marx Mint.
I bought my pink princess from Home Depot for $30 and there was about 40 all with high variegation. What are you even talking about?
This video is almost 3 years old
Thanks, they look much alike, but the growth patterns are clear. I have a Micans that is about 6 feet long.
Many of those are fakes.
Can you compare these with Micans? They look so much alike.
I did another video about that! Warning that it’s probably a little cringe bc it was one of my first videos but the info is right
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet I will check it out!
Don’t sleep on the low color Ones. Bought one at Home Depot that had just popped out a half moon after none of the plant had much pink!
Ooooooo lucky you!
I have always found that like 97% of variegated anthurium look sick, malnourished and just plain ugly, I swear that unless I was told it was variegated I'd think it was dying 😂😂, this video was like if Joan Rivers had a horticultural version of fashion police, AHmazing. ❤😂😂
I kind of held back… I got worried I was being too mean lmao
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet lmao, on the contrary....make more like this !! 🤣🤣 hi & hello from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹.
Greate
😂😂😂 sound a little butt hurt. I don’t see any cancellation. 🤷🏻♀️
Keep in mind this video was made almost 3 years ago back when PPP’s were still in the triple digits and people were willing to pay that because they thought they’d be getting the exquisite ones they saw on social. No one was getting what they expected and there was quite a bit of backlash and prices plummeted. These days the plants coming out of TC are perfectly fine for the price.
I got an established small form aurea for 120 bucks
Mine for 45
That’s a dang steal! Nice 😊
I watched this before buying my own mint adansonii- thank you for all of the info! Honestly the appeal for me is the lower price tag and the fact that leaves are less likely to revert or brown. I LOVE the variegation but not buying the same plant over and over because it reverts or goes all white. I'm stoked for my mint and don't give a flying **** about the stigma 🤗❤
Glad I could help! Honestly, this was so long ago at this point I think the stigma has kind of passed. Very glad to hear you’re happy with yours! I ended up selling mine when I was clearing out to make space but I do miss it sometimes. Hope yours does amazing ✨
The idea of not disturbing a plant in moss and letting it develop roots into pon is a great one! I have some questions: once the plant has developed a good root system into pon, what do you do with the moss part? Do you stick with the moss as you move it into a normal self-watering pot? Do you remove it? Cover it with pon? Appreciate any guidance! 😊🙏
You can definitely stack these I use them and now they make a 6 pack that’s only a few dollars more than the 4 pack
Oooooo nice that they’re even more affordable now.
I just got lucky to able to afford this monstera mint ,got it not so long ago
I saw some prices recently that were sooooo tempting but I don’t have anywhere to put any more large plants.
I love your perspective!
I think anthurium luxurians looks like a piece of Lacinato kale. 😆 Not a fan.
Valid 🤣
Love this! Rad song, real watering scenario. 😆
And it’s allllllll about to start again 😩
