    what is the crop loss like for items not sold? I've always been curious about that with Market Farming. Keep killing it bro!

    • @chefsharvestfarm
      @chefsharvestfarm 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That would depend on many factors. For me I bring a refrigerated trailer with me so I can rotate products if it’s slow. The only things I’m typically worried about are greens. But generally I sell out so it’s of no concern. Everything else like potatoes, onions, radishes, carrots etc are fine. Just bring em back next week. Or in my case sell them to restaurants later in the week. All that said, I no longer go to markets and I sell everything to restaurants. That decision is based mostly on the overall costs of attending markets. But the waste is definitely a factor. I have no waste when selling to restaurants.

    Based on your experience, this substantiates what many are now discovering and calling the ‘pulse watering’ or what those in many pro greenhouses call ‘shots’ that are timed to light exposure as well. It would be well worth checking out and may change your drip approach over all & save you that extra hand watering if you were able to set up the multiple timings that work for you…

    Oh dude, that’s a genius idea to keep the pipes from floating up to the surface. I’m going to do that too! I made a bubbler the same way but I always have to hold the pipes down, so annoying! I have a small market garden not quite as big as yours but I’m going to be selling to my first grocery store later this month and I’ve found your videos super valuable. Keep up the great content!

      Heck yeah! I found it on the University of Vermont TH-cam channel. This video and channel is a diamond in the rough th-cam.com/video/GI2tWR5amZs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=awGrQNPS5q-Tenqh Happy to share! Thanks for following along 🙏

      @@chefsharvestfarm thanks I subscribed to that channel too great stuff. Also would love to hear your thoughts on not being at the farmers market lately. I’ve been burnt out from farmers markets personally and I’m considering not doing them next year bc the costs just don’t seem worth it.
