Chef's Harvest Farm
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 10 พ.ย. 2019
I'm a former Executive Chef who quit my job to start a farm in my suburban backyard in Knoxville Tennessee.
I started gardening in my backyard to grow food to cook in my home kitchen for my wife and I. It didn't take long before I had way more produce than we could consume. So I started bringing coolers full of my produce to my job and selling it to the other employee's. I started selling to restaurants, and in May of 2022 I went to my first farmers market. After my second farmers market I quit my job and haven't looked back since.
Chef’s Harvest Farm is a profitable, No-till Urban Farm Which uses Organic practice. I specialize in high-quality salad mix and root vegetables. As well as seasonal vegetables such as Cherry Tomatoes, European Cucumbers, Herbs, Hardneck Garlic, and Ginger.
If you're interested in gardening, small scale farming, or cooking. Please subscribe and follow along as I document the progress of my farm with educational and instructional videos.

@@naleeneebenny8167 I don’t use chemicals… it’s all organically grown.
Banner is closing. Do you have a greenhouse that`s organic to recommend?
I know! Crazy! I don’t really know… I might just start some from seed next year… or not grow it. I probably just won’t grow it lol
what is the crop loss like for items not sold? I've always been curious about that with Market Farming. Keep killing it bro!
That would depend on many factors. For me I bring a refrigerated trailer with me so I can rotate products if it’s slow. The only things I’m typically worried about are greens. But generally I sell out so it’s of no concern. Everything else like potatoes, onions, radishes, carrots etc are fine. Just bring em back next week. Or in my case sell them to restaurants later in the week. All that said, I no longer go to markets and I sell everything to restaurants. That decision is based mostly on the overall costs of attending markets. But the waste is definitely a factor. I have no waste when selling to restaurants.
Based on your experience, this substantiates what many are now discovering and calling the ‘pulse watering’ or what those in many pro greenhouses call ‘shots’ that are timed to light exposure as well. It would be well worth checking out and may change your drip approach over all & save you that extra hand watering if you were able to set up the multiple timings that work for you…
Thank you 🙏

What are your thoughts on using food grade hydrogen peroxide instead of the Lysol no rinse?
@@kileymcnamee4979 I’ve never used it 🤷🏻♂️ but I know some people do. I worked in the restaurant business for 20 years. The sanitizer solution I use is the same as every single restaurant I’ve ever worked at uses. I would imagine if hydrogen peroxide was more sufficient then restaurants would be using it and they do not. I wouldn’t risk someone getting sick over it 🤷🏻♂️ I would just play it safe and use food surface sanitizer.

Nice job mate! Makes me think twice about doing this prep work to such detail to sell!!!! It gave me a massive insight of the set up you actually need to sell quality, clean & top notch produce! I applaud you, sir! No salmonella at your market gaden,to be sure!!! I just hope all you're customers see this video & realise what dedication & love it takes to sell top quality produce, that you do. Gaz, from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks Gaz! Glad it was helpful!
I would suggest some food prep gloves for the post spinner part of the process. I don't know about you, but I am not fond of someone's bare hands tossing salad greens as they dry. Most other vegetables are fine bare hand imo because they are easier to wash before consumption.
That’s what soap is for! We keep gloves on hand. But I don’t like them because I can’t feel when it’s dry! But you could just buy grocery store lettuce instead 🤷🏻♂️ ya know the stuff that comes from California and they irrigate it with contaminated water from the cow farms with manure run off. Then they wash it in bleach to try and kill all of the ecoli . I’m sure they wear gloves 🤣
Thanks for the video !
Thanks for dropping comments 🙏
I love how you are all in on the food safe salad spinner, but then you have exposed and untreated wood on the drying rack and a non food grade tank for the bubbler. I have been toying with how to make a drying rack very similarly, but out of PVC.
Thanks 🙏
