      Thanks Ms. J 🙌 this place is actually so much cooler than I was able to show in this video! Can’t wait to share more. There is literally an extreme mountain bike course with jumps that are insane right next to the garden. All of which is on an 80 acre homestead in the Knoxville urban wilderness. And there is also a preschool on the property where the kids go to school in the forest every day.

      Thanks Ms J 🙌 there is 2 of the big white fluffy dogs, 2 boarder collies (all farm dogs). Plus the owner has 3 dogs that live inside his house. So farm no major deer or ground hog issues. A little bit of rabbit issues seems like. But they do good work overall

    I'd love to hear more about where/how you source compost and what kind of compost you are using. I have a real hard time finding quality compost in my area.

      Yes! All compost is not created equal. I’m fortunate that I can get high quality manure based mushroom compost cheap. $500/20 yard load delivered. But moving forward I’m hoping to move more towards cover crops on this property. Because it’s a pain to get compost back there….

      Kinda wherever I can find what I’m looking for. I think I got the peas and oats mixed from Johnny’s. And mustard from Trueleaf.

      There was. A young lady several booths down from me at the market was growing there but she quit. And moved away. She had not taken good care of anything. Still working on cleaning it up. It’s about 60ft X 50ft .

    How long do you leave the nets off to let the bees pollinate? I had a big problem with squash beetles last year and would like to try the hoop nets

    Hey man, I’m wondering if you ran into any issues with the NRCS putting high tunnels on your home property since it’s possibly considered residential? I’ve hesitated to pursue it since I’m not zoned ag but I grow in my back yard just like you.

      No issues! But I would highly recommend walking into their office and talk to them directly. They will answer all of those types of questions for you.

      @@keithmoseley3744 thanks Keith! I appreciate your support 🙏 and yes I do! My neighbor at the market has the best chicken in town. I’ve actually lost about 50 lbs this year. I do exercise but I don’t lift weights. Just burpees, pushups, pull ups, etc. and I eat up to a dozen eggs per day, generally a piece of grilled chicken for lunch (no carbs during the day. And kinda just eat whatever, meat and veggies and carbs for dinner. I try to always make sure I eat more protein than anything else. And never eat anything with sugar.

      @@lessycurls walk into your county USDA office and ask them (don’t call, don’t email) show up in person. This way they know you’re serious. A lot of people want “free money” but won’t do the work… if you show up in person. They know you’re for real. And just talk to them, a good place to start is the NRCS office (with the usda building). They fund high tunnels etc. I didn’t really know what I was asking for. But I just showed up and started a conversation… now they call me and ask me if I want more grants, and they’ve also asked me to be on their urban farming sub committee… but it all started by just walking into their office and starting a conversation with the lady at the desk.

    So you give the land owner the produce with the shortest shelf life, your leftovers, instead of the prime fresh picked stuff.

      Heck yeah 🙌 win win for everyone! He loves it 💪 I even pay my chiropractor with veggies left from the market! Markets on Saturday and I’m usually at his place on Mondays. We typically harvest for the market on Wednesdays through Friday. Shelf life on my salad greens is typically 3-4 weeks. So hardly a disappointment! Sounds like you’re misunderstanding how great of a system it is for everyone! Just because something is leftover from the market doesn’t make it bad… I bring a refrigerated trailer to the market so everything stays cold. Helps me to move any left overs! And keeps him happy as could be! Thanks for watching 🙏

      @@dawn19maria exactly! Salad greens are 2-3 weeks old before they even hit grocery stores shelves! People are so disconnected from their food, they have no clue 🤣 ignorance is bliss i guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

    do you know where i can get drip irrigation for beds that are 100ft or longer? never done irrigation before. i looked at growers solution and farmers friend, and growers solution said dont use it for beds over 50ft. i have a big long field on my 30 acres, my beds can be over 120ft long, i have no idea what im doing haha

      I get all my irrigation supplies from dripdepot.com. All my beds are 50 feet. So that’s all I have experience with. But you can always live chat with drip depot and they can help you find what you need. I don’t think they take phone calls anymore. But I used there live chat recently.
