For my first time taking a paint job seriously I am convinced anybody at home can get similar results with no professional tools (and some hobbyist tools). Most things I used are down below if interest for any product used, a...

Love these bikes I tock the windshield off and went with a cool faring looks way better but that's what I like you like what you like
What wheels are you using
Send em to me isotropic ceramic polish 250 a wheel
@@thesicillianbull this was not the final results, but that seems like it’s worth it rather than doing it again
Best Ironhead design concept I’ve yet seen. It is Fresh, and it all hangs together like a complete bike. The exhaust itself is a standout.. congratulations to you.
Probably a blown engine
Where did you. Get that seat?
Never knew about the SlimsFab oil tank 'til now. Looks clean. Great work.
@@mikecfv the quality surpasses the price lower point in my opinion. That’s why I ordered another for this build!
You skipped step ONE..disconnect the battery, so there can be no accidental starter engagement, ask any 4 finger mechanic why.. I have 3 friends that have made that mistake over the years.
Did you make the oil tank?
Slimfab on instagram produces them in a few variations
I like your content, from what I’ve seen so far, and I also like your average duration of segment time. Actually, you’re inspiring me to jump back into building at least One More Bike (I’m 71), and the Sportster looks like a doable project, at least the way you go at it. Thanks for the content.
I’m glad to hear. I hope the best of luck with your project the sportster is a great platform for many styles of rider!!
@ Thank you for the projects you have done and videoed. It was a good reminder of what can be done.
Good job, brother! I love bringing ‘em back from the near-dead, or even just forlorn, like that one was. I’m starting to see the wisdom in going with the solid mount Evo Sportster for just about any kind of project one can imagine, and not break the bank. Love the Dirtster; that would probably be my path, but a ‘Tracker style could be quite lovely too. Only thing, on a tracker they don’t look right unless you “back-half” it and rebuild everything from the tank, back
Enjoying the content; love the concept! And is that an Ironhead motor in a later frame? Whoa!
@@oldschoolmotorsickle it’s an 82 so very similar frame to the early evo sportsters
Just stumbled onto this content, I’m a follower! I can’t think of a better thing for an old Sportster than to make it a Dual-Sportster or Dirt-Sportster! Get that pile of iron to scale at less than #400 lbs, and you’re golden.
My style is riding terrible motorcycles as fast as possible!
@@WTW994 it’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow!!
Any issues with battery heat?
305 scrambler are great bikes ❤ thank you Honda
eh, taking the tempering out of the metal seems kinda sketchy to me.
There's no tempering. Low alloy steel
@@rognavolter really? kinda surprised. figured they would need some tempering to balace stress form the forming process. i admit its hobby more than craft for me though.
I did heat up the area and put a wet towel to rapidly cool it. It takes the stress out of places that would flex
Is it worth fixing? Would a new one cost more? The paint getting destroyed has to cost a lot.
@@karterwilson7094 I did buy a frame and motor for a frame up. Depends on price I guess and how far you want to go!!
Great Video! Hey, what happened to the dirtster project? I don't know if you've mentioned it in a previous video but that project looked dope. Would love to see more on it.
@@jake598481 Vermont loophole closed along and I was searching on a title service in the meantime. Once I have a title in my hand I’ll be working on it again!!
where do i get 6 inch forks like this for my Soft tail standard 2023?
@@noobology7895 a till death cycles dampener will add 2 inches for a lower price than tubes. But a set of 6+ tubes can be available through many retailers such as tc bros. Personally I liked using a 4inch extended tubes and extended dampeners to add travel in your front end
@@SlappysGarage Thanks for the advice. Any reccomendation for a kickstand extension? I assume the lean will be crazy after I raise the front up
@ I like lean to an extent. Aluminum block on the bottom (drill and tap with a flat head Allen bolt) but I would keep it to a minimum. Maybe a heavier spring if possible if the block weighs down the kickstand!!
😂
Ran when parked… forgot to mention I parked it in the dumpster fire.
😬
Thank you sir, just sent to the wifey as a subtle hint 😉👌🏼
Hope she gets the hint 😂

Looks really good
Like a chopper but better
@@OldeThunderCC almost was a chopper, but lack of knowledge at the time when I first started made for one fun sportster tracker

@@motorcyclemadhouse371 still a lot more attention to the details but I’m happy with the way it’s going!!

cool video man!
Just in time. I’m doing something like this so I’m grateful you’ve done it already💀🙏 thankyou brother
Wow!!! I love the trail bike look for the iron head. I seold my iron head and bought an xs650 . I just put a permanent magnet magneto and a capacitor. jockey shift and a thumb throttle rounds out the awesomeness. I might put the clutch on the shifter though. Great job brother. I hope the bash goes well. I am down in PA....
I love my old xs650, have a few motors on the shelf. Both this and the xs are tracker style bikes. Much fun but haven’t rode it much since they stopped doing the most local hillsclimb races.
@@SlappysGarage Thanks brother. Maybe we can go riding sometime...I am down in Pennsylvania...Iwill not be making it to the show. Maybe next one. I would really love to do the EL Diablo Ride again. I was hit on my 1957 Panhead two years ago and nearly lost my right leg and had a blood clot so big that the surgeons said they had not seen in 30 years. An F350 clipped my rear fender and flipped me up and around a telephone pole in front of my house and kept going. I am back on my feet finally but it was a hell of a journey.
I'm confused you start with an evo sporty with inverted forks. Then at the end of the video its an Ironhead with regular forks????
@@wd3930 I wasn’t going to wire or plumb the bike before I have everything else mocked up. If someone was looking to do this oil tank conversion I gave them an example of how it can be setup
after riding and a few heat cycles is it still shiny ?
It brings out tones in the stainless (gold blue or purple) all depends on jetting and beds of the pipe
looks awesome 👏
I think the dyna is better because I have one😂
Check steering bearing grease, did the welding melt out grease? gas tank good work. when you get better with the welder you will go and do some great work, it is all about the self-satisfaction and pride, you built it, and it is looking good. where you at, maybe I will pay you to build me one too.
@@flathead1930 I’m on Long Island ny, plan is to practice more fab but then I’m going to rebuild the front end w new seals and also do new stem bearings
Do you not need a Shift Shaft Tube gasket? I'm about to do mine. I have a 2004 FXDL
@@rileyhicks8421 it’s a cheap thing to do, it’s just an o ring so I won’t have to every time. But it’s cheaper to do it for at least the first time then to pull your primary off to do it the second time
Look good - preferred the pink look though!
@@elzer0181 don’t have the heart to destroy the oem painted tank for the color, but setup wise this is only temporary!! If you liked the pink u may like my next paint job another bike I’m painting
Thing with those bags after a while the sun really beat down on the military straps on the top and really like completely came off over time
@@michaelmaningding that’s a bummer man, hope the other straps held up to keep them usable
Way cool Nick! Never shut down!
Instead of denting the gas tank I think I would have cut it and weld in a "tunnel". And the braked, I would mounted the bolts from the top. Then they wouldn't fall out if they unthread. But that's me... there's more then one way to Rome 😅
Is this the most recent part for this? I’m eating all the episodes in order so I can get some inspiration for what I want to do to my father’s sporty. He passed back in ‘01 and I want to turn it in to a dirt bike style bike since I’m 6ft 4 and sporty a are a tight fit for me😆 if this is the last one as of now I hope life treating you well dude🤘🏻
