Long term, I want to do something like this with my sporty. This bike so far is closer to what I want than any of the Gucci "scrambler" builds that have 20k in parts. Plus I appreciate that you measured the ground clearance, no one else has covered that so far. Lookin forward to the next installment.
I’m trying my best to use what I have, or what I can get second hand. But it’s been a struggle to find what I need next so the installment’s are spread out farther then I planned. I may add to much info or not enough but I’m learning as I go to add what seems most important such as things as ground clearance or for people who it may interest a cheaper/easier route
@@SlappysGarage personally, its a constant battle between "buy nice or biy twice" (even with budget builds) and "get it on the road and fix it later". I will say, Ive been ultimately happier taking the latter route. If you go into it knowing a lot if what you got wont live forever and just enjoy it for the time being anyway, I find much more excitement in my projects which makes me much more motivated to keep working on them. Keeps morale up, albeit it is ultimately the more expensive route. I noticed you still have flat stock for rear suspension. I may have a suggestion, VW bug guys have these 17 or 19 inch shocks that come with helper coils, they're about $100 for a pair on ebay and if I dont find a different solution Im going to try them out for my build. Since theyre just helper springs, they shouldnt be too stiff. Thought I might share that if rear suspension is one of the pieces youre struggling to find.
@@TheAnimal191 so the bar is a mock-up, I have a set of xr 16in ohlins rebuilt coming in. But to wait is the battle with those, the same guy will also revalve the suspension for the weight. But that’s taking some time rather then spending top dollar for brand new. For me it’s to get the best bang for buck while on a budget. Parts like exhaust I rather a beat up pipe then a brand new shiny one especially since a Dirtbike will destroy those parts
@@TheAnimal191 I do really enjoy this information as it could be of use for anyone else interested. I also have some 14 burly shocks that are affordable on my flat track bike which may not give the ground clearance but to anyone interested in a cheaper route have worked great on another one of my bikes
