The Paul McCartney song that the rest of The Beatles despised
มุมมอง 6K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
With a back catalogue as extensive as that of The Beatles, there is a fair chance that a selection of songs will cause slight debate around certain creative differences. A few stinkers slipped through even in the 71 songs that Paul McCartney wrote for the Fab Four. One particular song, however, didn’t just annoy the usual suspects of John Lennon or George Harrison, but the entire band.
David Bowie and the band who showed him the "future of music"
มุมมอง 13K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
In the early 1960s, David Bowie was still a relatively unknown fringe musician, performing mostly folk-leaning songs in small venues around London. Far from being the era-defining star that he would go on to become with the release of ‘Space Oddity’ in 1969, Bowie’s early years in the world of music were characterised by false starts, experimentation, and a couple of epiphanies. One such epipha...

Is it true he sodomized a 13 year old boy ?
Imagine Steely Dan being a good band. It's hard, even if you try.
Love Steely Dan.
I respect Rolling Stones and Richard’s but he is talking out of his ass. Those bands can play rolling stone tunes. The stones couldn’t play the other bands tunes. That’s not your taste I get it but those bands are leaps and bounds more talented
John jad his faults like everyone else but he was a down to earth dude. Thats what got him killed. He'd walk around New York and every where else with no security.
Lennon, Arrogant, very unattractive, reports say wife beater, & cheater. Contributed to the breakup of the band.
Frank Zappa beat Steely Dan to it (making fun of the Beatles) in his song Oh No (which has an excellent melody). Either way, when you're lesser known, get attention by bashing the big guy. As for John Lennon, at least he stepped up and tried to end the Vietnam war, and so I tip my hat to him.
Lennon was one of the biggest hypocrites that ever lived.. He basically ignored his children that weren't from Yoko, was known to have a temper.. Lovely ideas and thoughts aside
Oh big bullshit to Fagan.
That’s like hot dogs mocking tenderloin
He never had a billboard hit bro except for valley girl
Imagine...if Yoko had any talent, its hard even if I try!
The older I get the less I like & admire Lennon.
4 sticks is one of my favorite zeppelin song the time signatures are complicated
I’ve always understood for myself that John’s Imagine was a possibility as he hopes one day, more people will make the possibility a reality. This song makes a good point of challenging who see’s that possibility and how that may seem foolish because of the marketing of his image and songs. Yeah, you purchased that song in a store or a sponsor did to spread celebrate that possibility but for profit. I guess John had to do the best he could with the system/business in the time he got. I’m grateful both points of view exist about John’s song to remind us that there’s more to it.
I never liked Lennon. Or his taste in broads.
Donald Fagen flogging John Lennon for misinterpreting the working class man. It’s so cute when millionaires fight. 🙄
No se el ingles ni lo que comenta, pero mis respetos y admiracion, solo creo que tubo dos piedritas en sus zapatos, Brian Jones y Mike Teylor. Si fue coraje o envidia eso no lo se.
Ah yes,Imagine....the communist manifesto.
Zappa described SD as downer surrealism. I agree, and love all thier work.
Can anyone Imagine a worse song than Imagine? Really, it sums up how completely Kamala is out of touch with working America. PS Fagan and Becker hated people. The more they toured the more they hated people.
He was an iconoclast, and thats okay, I think aside from all the seriously confrontational nature of what he said about these other bands (which im guessing that was by design) the principle of the criticism was valid. Putting anyone in pop music on a pedestal is the actions of people who know no better, that its all fucking subjective. Adn im with him on Zappa, and im not even old enough to have been around when he was popular, but listening to his music now, whats the big f*cking deal. Like most jazz, just mostly self-indulgent bullshit
Junky opinion.... sorry queef richards... nobody would know the stones without Brian jones
Lennon was merely pointing out the things that create conflict: religions, materialism, nationalism. This idea is as old as Scripture. Lennon just put it to music. And it lifted people spiritually and made him gobs of money that he was able to keep in the U.S. (where he was living to avoid the British taxman). In the end, Lennon was shot and killed by someone who didn’t think Lennon lived up to what he imagined him to be. Imagine that.
Wow. That’s a bold statement. Garage days definitely didn’t cover fuck all from the stones, man. Iommi laid the groundwork for metal and I’ll die on this hill.
John Lennon was what we call a "champagne socialist" these days. Complete pr*ck!
Who really cares
Reed poseur supreme. The whole New York punk / rock phony factory studio scene.
Steve Albini was right.
BS …Imagine will be remembered 1,000 years from now…… Dumb as
That's always been true & will always be true... Love Steely Dan.
quite frankly, could care less what Lou Reed liked or disliked.
This artists name is Warren Shanti :)
Lou Reed was a great singer...NOT! Well, he was a great guitar player ...NOT! At least you can say he wrote some great songs.😬
I've seen the website on these fools they are full of snobs most likely zoomers who can't get any
I definitely Loath Grohl!!!
GET TO THE POINT. Which song mocked John Lennon? I got so sick of waiting for you to get to the point that I stopped watching.
🙌
Money is unimportant only if you have plenty of it.
How is Lou reed even known? He has the nerve to call The Who talentless?? Seriously? I've never heard anything he's done that gives any indication that Reed has the slightest bit of musical talent.
Who cares?
Lou hates my record collection. 😔
True New Yorker - everything has to either be the absolute best or the absolute worse, as long as they can give their opinion in a forceful way that makes them sound like some sort of authority, no matter how stupid or uninformed they are. (And willing to completely reverse their position when the wind of popular opinion blows the other way.) Unlike his music, Lou's opinions aren't worth listening to.
Who cares
Absolutely love the Beatles. And John is my fav Beatle. And yet, Steely Dan was right to critique Imagine....and Lennon for writing it (with Yoko).
Like Guitaris Label HIM as Someone to Expire To..... Give me A F___n Break!!!!
One evening as the sun went down And the jungle fire was burning Down the track came a hobo hikin' And he said, "Boys, I'm not turning I'm headed for a land that's far away Beside the crystal fountains So come with me, we'll go and see The Big Rock Candy Mountains "In The Big Rock Candy Mountains There's a land that's fair and bright Where the handouts grow on bushes And you sleep out every night Where the boxcars all are empty And the sun shines every day On the birds and the bees and the cigarette trees The lemonade springs where the bluebird sings In The Big Rock Candy Mountains
Boy, people are suggestible. One little video with a few words and all the sudden John Lennon is bad and Donald Fagen is good. Possessions occupies one line in the song!! Other lines are about Peace, Brotherhood, Love, Kindness, Friendship, Cooperation. It says "Imagine ..." a world where these things are not an issue. Where we all get along and help one another. And here, the genius Donald Fagen writes a song mocking, belittling and condemning Lennon?! That is, full of enmity. Does Donald's song inspire people to be desirous of a wonderful world or does Lennon's? Lennon is not telling poor people to have no possessions anywhere in the song! He's asking all of us to imagine a world where we are not "gaga" over any possessions we have - where we value more fundamental ideas of humanity over mere physical items. To not be attached. "Imagine ... no need for greed or hunger." As Yogananda wrote, a beggar can be more attached to his begging bowl than a Prince is to his castle.
Since Imagine, the working class has been dispossessed of its few possessions by the boss class. At least Lennon offered a choice.
Who cares
