Cool review
I've been enjoying 4 player chess for a few days now. It's certainly challenging. I'm definitely castling early though. I'm finding that hiding my king away in the corner behind a fianchetto'd bishop really helps protect me so that I can open the rest of my pieces up slowly. I'm only at 1600, but very slowly crawling my way up :)
27:03 you played queen captures rook, which won the game, but you could have captured the knight with checkmate to be more precise. In the end you still won so good game and it was quite enjoyable to watch your instruction on this complex game.
23:20 you could have mated green with your bishop by capturing inactive yellows pawn, but otherwise this is a very instructive video.
These are so much fun to watch. I wish there were more videos, but I guess 4-player chess isn't that popular. Anyway, I hope you will make more of these videos!
I learnt a few things from this video but I don't think you played a good game. You sacrificed your queen in the start. Then you were saved by green when Yellow checked you. Then move at 25:30 was really bad, green could have taken your queen but he missed. Then 27:02 you missed mate in 1.
Why are your queen and king on the wrong squares
Me waiting 7m just for the thing to end: 1m in: uh what 2m in: bruh im skipping skipping to 7:20 yesss
man left a whole rook hanging for a while yet green couldnt see it lol
Fianchetto has to be readed as "Fianketto" (in italian "ch" is spelled as "K")
Are you not playing now?
I suck at normal chess but I love 4 player chess. I've figured out half of what youre saying without help, now you've filled in lots of the gaps, thanks!
49:24 you could have taken blue bishop with check then red will protect your queen with his own queen checkmate, red would have 40 points but you will have 31 points after capturing red queen, and surely you will win gifting the second place to red... that's the plan of red and I'm really sorry for red that you didn't see that, but I guess you don't want to betray your "natural partner-blue"... but wow could have been really tilting for blue if that happened ✌️✌️✌️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
nice find😲
8:01 instead of pushing pawn, could you play Na3 in your perspective? or that would result to yellow resigning and making it difficult to mate?
Lol 21:48 green could have mated with queen
Oh yes, you are right!
Hey! At 24:49 move 59. Why didn't u check with the bishop and then get the queen? Seems like the best move to me but I'm curious why u didn't choose to 🤔
Yes, I did not see!
Well no. I would loose a queen and a bishop for just a queen and a pawn. No good deal.
Love these videos! I recently got into 4 player chess but there's so few videos on it, I'm glad you're making these videos.
This game would be better if you had a Chancellor and Archbishop instead of the Knights.
Thanks for this channel you made. I'm playing in 4-player chess for 3 months at 1700-1800 rating level and after my 30th game I stopped progressing in understanding game principles, heuristics, ideas and so on. You just told me several interesting tips in the very first videos. Hopefully, after watching the entire channel I will become much stronger. I truly enjoy this game and your beautiful lively comments on your games.
I am 2300+ (was close to 2400) in FFA and I think people plays it completely wrong. 17:17 - green could have mated red, that's right. But you can't assume people will cooperate. It is free for all and you are being given only +1 point for 2nd place, the point of this game is to try to win it, not to kill other players just to be sure not to be last. Green did great not mating red, because he weakened both of you - red and you - and this is benefitial for him because he wants to win the game, not to let you have a lot of material advantage. People plays very strange for me in 2300-2400+ levels - they are teaming up with the opposite player to this level, that they are hanging their pieces to kill one of the players to the side. It is never good unless you are happy to be 2nd. In this game everyone should play defensively to have the biggest chances to finish 1st, not to cooperate from the very begining to kill one player on the side. It is okay to use opponent moves to have benefits for yourself, like in 13:59 - green took for free the knight using that red is under check. But what I see a lot is that players on the opposite sides are hanging pieces to themselves and not capturing it - it is maybe not prearranged team, but it can't be benefitial if you want to win the game, and people still do it. Maybe I'm wrong but I want to finish 1st my games, not to kill other players, and the best way to do so is to team up only when it benefits me. Sometimes it would be benefitial to me to defend other player.
Hi Nikodem, yes, good point. Yes, playing for win is much better than playing for second place. What I like in FFA is that there are so many different approaches to the right strategy. Sometimes killing a sideplayer may be beneficial for both, you and your oposit and leave you both with good winning chances. Then I would definitely recomend to do the kill. I thought this was such a case. But I should have definitely not counted on green so much in this case, given greens ranking it was false to expect him to see the possibility. And yes, It would have possibly been better for green to let me and red loose material against each other and not kill red. But then he wasted his queen anyway...
Pls never stop making these, youre Just awesome!!!
Thanks for your kind feedback.

Sounds great Jared. Congrats. I never played solo so far. May be I should try it out.
@@4playerchess896 Yeah you should try it. You'd probably do really well. Thanks for the nice informative videos. Do you think 4-way chess is growing in popularity?
@@jaredmeyer7422 Not really sure if it is growing in popularity. I think it got some attention when GM like Hikaru etc. tried and streamed it like a year ago. In the moment there seems to be not too much hype about it.
Hi LuckyDminor ! Would like to see more video of FFA ... How do you do your video ? May I suggest you some content to share the beauty of this game ... hope to see you soon
Sure, whats your idea?

May be I can share some games, ... we can try ;-)
wow, thank you so much, my friend asked me to play some 4 player, and I was so daunted by it. It seems so confusing, and the positions can become very complex, but this video breaks it down very well. I will be watching all your videos now
Thanks for your kind feedback...

Hello, Would you be interested in streaming Kingdom Chess? It has a different approach to 4 player chess (kill a king to overtake his army) along with other interesting variants like capture the flag or domination. It's just coming out on Steam in Early Access. What's the best way to approach you?
Dear Krzysztof, sounds very interesting. Unfortunately I am very short with my time in the moment and hardly play or stream at all. I also want to focus on one thing rather then trying to do multiple things at once. So its a "no" for now.
@@4playerchess896 Thank you for your response. Good luck with everything!

Last man standing in four player chess. Points don't matter , king with most safety win
hey I just started playing 4 player and I think your videos are the best for explaining this mode. Want to play sometime? Also it's odd that when I search '4 player chess' in YT search you dont even pop up in the top 20 searches despite your channel name. Such a shame. The algorithms suck
Thank you, I am happy that you like it. Yes, I was also astonished that a "4 player chess" named chanel does not show up higher in the list, when "4 player chess" are the searchwords. Seems like it is all about how often a video has allready been clicked in the past. Yes, also would like to play sometime. But have to admitt that in the moment I hardly find time to play at all. Maybe some day....
how to join a game i cant join game
Not sure, what your problem was, I guess you have solved it in the meanwhile?
PD: red opening is the worse if I were in your shoes I would betrayed him xD or just not team and pray for not being attacked
Hm, not sure if it would allways be a bad opening. I allways try to stay positive and play as best as I can...
@@4playerchess896 it is not a bad opening if you play with blue or green, but with reds makes the team lose the advantage of moving first
@@jags6075 Ok, good point.
I am green. In the final of three it is a problem being the strongest player. Just wanted king safety, Good structure for the final of two And try to gets points, Many often we attack the stronger player and in the final we have the same material, three kings with three queens, it use to finish by draw and who has more points and that moment wins the game
Yes, good strategy to keep king safety and to stay under the radar with 3 players.
Move 3.y d12 (kicking the blue queen in the beginning) loses on the spot as green can play move 3.g Qm7 (making a queen-bishop battery) and blue gives Qj11 check, after yellow covers the check (by any of the possible moves) green will play Qg13 check followed by blue giving double check by capturing the piece which is blocking the check from the blue queen.
Yes, I did not see that. Luckyly it did not happen.
@@4playerchess896 Indeed. Just think and remember how fast situations arise. It is not surprising you are lost after not developing a single piece in first 3 moves. Got to move your pieces, even when your opposite doesnt. You survive better that way.
Really liked green's play...it was very tight and not much room to get attacked from... also your analysis of the game was excellent... thanks for the good material.
Thanks
At 9:14... blocking with the knight might have been an option. When side players attack with their queens I lose very quickly...I don't know how to react to it...thats why am not able to get past 2200...I reached 2200 recently but was immediately brought back down due to intense teaming of side players. Anyways better luck next time.
Yep, might have been. Would not have saved me for long I guess...
Discovered check is the dive bomber of the Chessboard -- Reuben Fine th-cam.com/video/3nZir7yxyjs/w-d-xo.html
Good game... Enjoyed it a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it
I think mating green while capturing the bishop was better...it was 5 more free points...red would not take your bishop since his bishop was also under attack and if that bishop fell his rook would be next...no sense in breaking up a good alliance with u for a bishop which would cost him dearly.
Still think mating green using my queen was the safest way to do it. But yes you are right. Mating with the bishop would bring points and most likely be also safe.
At 33:00 the knight was the only thing protecting green's rook so without it he yellow queen takes green rook with check.
I was thinking that too!
Yes, you are right.
33:10 I green didn’t capture the bishop because you would’ve taken his rook and check green. The knight you captured was protecting the rook, therefore capturing the knight was a great move.
Oh yes, you are right, I did not see that.
@@4playerchess896 Anyways, I found this video really entertaining, keep it up!
@@F11-b2q Thanks, there are over 40 videos on my channel to be found allready. Enjoy if you like...
at 29:30...I disagree... green's move was bad...he should have either taken your bishop or red's rook with check...I favour the latter...the move he actually played would have cost him a lot if red's k5 knight had forked his queen and bishop and you had taken his rook...he would not be able to take back your bishop since he would have had to move his queen...he would also have lost the dark squared bishop because of the fork and if he had tried to defend it with his queen red could again attack his queen in anticipation of a check on green by your bishop which would have just taken the rook.
I guess you are right.
im 2200 now in ffa.
Great
Bro I just found your channel. Very helpful.
Great, I am happy that you like it.
Cool pawn structures!
Yes
At 50:03 I was wondering why you didn't block green's check with your queen
Oh yes, missed it. Was allready kind of frustrated and did not take the time to think anymore. :-(
at 39:06 can't blame blue...that trade wasn't stupidity like yellow's move but it was out of frustration. I think he just wanted to tradeoff all his pieces and resign. He couldn't really hope for a win at that point. I think he would have played on if for some reason you decided not to capture the queen he had just promoted but idk...
Yes, especially I believe blue wanted to make shure he did not end up 4th.
You were correct that yellow made a touchpad slip when he gave you his queen! It was me. I could have captured your pawn to pin your rook and while also preventing green’s capture of the blue rook. I even could have checked blue on his back rank. But when I touched the queen it captured the poison blue pawn. Aargh!
Ok, too bad but that happens. But why did you check my king befor that? I was trying to help you.
I saw this game live...😂
I played the game after this one with drumdaddy
Yes, I saw you in the chat. Hoped you would join one of the games and play ;-)
At 21:26 could have supported yellow by checking green with the bishop
At 24:35 also...that check would have really taken the pressure off yellow
@@4playerchess896 yeah I was kind of hoping the same. I started a game but you were in the lobby I think.
