There is sometimes an expectation from an admired actor that part of an unwritten agreement for the admiration between him and his fans is that he is kind of obligated to share and expose his life to all eyes as an expression of gratitude and appreciation for the admiration he receives. I think this is mistaken thinking and creates a condition with the actor that his only desire is to give us viewing experiences and a worthy reward for supporting him. This does not mean that he has to entrust his life for this. There are many ways to show appreciation and gratitude for the admiration he receives.

The suit man villain in Train to Busan underwent a similar experience. People hated his character so much that it stressed the actor out so he only accepted good guy roles for a while because he wanted to separate himself from the character and didn't want to be typecasted. I've seen him in several projects where he played likeable characters only, then I saw him in one where he started to play the bad guy again. Good strategy, I think.
