In most of Asia drinking heavily is a norm . You are forced to consume large amounts of alcohol at every social and business meeting. In South Korea I often see celebrities boasting about how they drink and what hard drink they consume also , if one should visit South Korea you will see people lying around in the most unexpected place sleeping of the alcohol and no one bats an eye while this is normal behaviour. I am not entirely sure but the laws of South Korea says that one who commits crimes under the influence is considered ' mental disabled 'but the laws seemingly punishes celebrities more as the are known but is more lenient towards those not known.
But drink culture is so heavily promoted it seems in Korea but a line is drawn once a person becomes an alcoholic and does crazy stuff under the influence. ☹️ wild
As long as these actors weren't at the very peak of fame, THEY were held accountable for alcohol related issues. If your agency protects you, excuses will be made for dui's hypocritical. If you don't want people to drink and drive, stop making drinking a romantic activity in every drama, romcom, movie, music video. You can't have it both ways and only admonish celebrities whom are not at their peak or who are EASILY HATED by the public. Different rules for different people.

I wish more k drama had themes about the way alcohol shouldn’t be a priority!

Almost every man drinks. Alcoholism is a different issue entirely. Entirely the person's fault.

Do people who are not in the public eye face these harsh reprocusions as well for the same infractions?
