BRAVO!!! You're an artists, you move your hands LOL! 😜
Ok the comment about your desk is ridiculous! Honestly a messy desk is one sign that makes me think you are a “real” artist! It shows that you are actively working on your art whatever it is. I don’t get why people get so hung up on those small things…it’s not THEIR desk so why be mad? Anyway I like your studio blogs and when you do sketchbook videos but I like whatever you post. In the end I really just like what makes you happy to post. 🩵
How about a top 5 colors in each style of media that you use.
There is a TH-camr Dust In My Eye, she has made a plein aire travel kit to rival Etchr standing set up. She made it a year ago and it is amazing. I have been playing around with different setup, but her’s is simplistically amazing. I had to share this with you, I love to share and help any and everyone get what they need! Your channel is soooooooo awesome! Ty for being so dedicated, you are inspiring me to really get back to learning how to be creative. ♥️
I’m very sorry to hear that you get mean comments with personal attacks. That is uncalled for and you should block those people, but I’m sure that can be exhausting to do. Personally I have stopped watching any art haul videos because I don’t need to be enticed to buy any more art supplies. I have more than a lifetime supply lol. Some of my favorite videos were from around this time last year. The videos showed you oil painting (possibly acrylic but pretty sure was oil). There were several and I think was time lapsed and a voice over explaining what you were thinking, what was going right. what was going wrong and how you were fixing the problem. Also there was a long live in which you were doing a large pastel painting and chatting back when you were first working in pastels. I like tutorials but I know that real-time tutorials don’t often do well on TH-cam. For what it is worth, I think you should create some online classes (hopefully on teachable because in my experience that is the most user friendly platform) and then offer time-lapse of various projects from the class with voiceover. I especially love the vlogs (mishmash?) where you start off with nature views from your area for the week. Then you could go inside and show timelapse of you painting a nature scene with a voiceover. Since I don’t make videos I have no idea how time intensive such things might be, but I would enjoy watching that. Best of luck in figuring out which way to go.
Hi Amy 😊 I really enjoy your videos and feel really comfortable watching them cause I like the way you are and I think I will watch the videos you give to us 😂 no matter what they are about. And I think if you like the video and can be you in your videos your audience will notice that and will automatically like it. I hope you understand what I want to say. I wish you cozy Christmas holidays and a beautiful beginning of 2025. I will be here waiting for the videos no matter what is coming 😊😊
Hey love! Im a relatively new subscriber AND also a new "youtube'er". Very new YT and have been avoiding it but that besides the point... As for membership, I think you should most definitely do that! As you grow your going to get more and more hate comments. If you're being affected by it then most definitely maker a smaller home base community and remember that yes, ur human and u have feelings but these people are EVIL and trying to make you upset. Im commenting while watching,.... I forgot u had a patreon.. So yeah a membership and Patreon as well as YT is going to BURN YOU OUT!!! If anything id do a smaller tier membership that could stream live with while ur in the studio just doing your own thing so u still have different material for YT and Patreon. As for the channel, I happen to like longer content but i'm old school. This new age crap is all short form content and mind numbing bullshit. Excuse my language but its the truth. If there's anything i can say to you that id hope would stick is... Remember, THESE PEOPLE ARE NASTY AND MEAN NOTHING TO YOU! Yes, ur human and sensitive and if they got to know u they'd think different but that's the thing. They don't care. They want to make u feel like crap. They get off on making people upset because it makes them feel better for whatever reason. They don't pay ur bills ( i get it that somewhere down the line, views make money but u know what im saying) They don't take care of ur house or ur kids.. Don't put gas in ur car or shovel ur driveway so EFF THEM!!! I know i know, its easier said than done but try and remember that, especially as the channel continues to grow. I hope this gets to you. Love ya chica. Sorry about the surgery postonal and the kiddos being sick. Mine are sick too and got me sick as well. LoL. OK love, Keep yr head up.... P.s. WATERCOLOR LANDSCAPES!!!! WATERCOLOR ANYTHING!!!!! but i think doing what u want or feel is best.. flow...
I’m new to your channel and doing art, and you’re fantastic. You are in my top 5 artists I watch, enjoy, and learn from. I am so sorry you’ve had to deal with the nasty, hateful side of humanity. It isn’t easy to process personal attacks. Hard stop! Sending you kudos & good vibes for all your hard work!
DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY, I’M HERE TO WATCH, LEARN, & TO BE INSPIRED. I JUST FOUND YOUR VIDEOS & ENJOYED YOUR SWAN VIDEO GREATLY. AUTO-IMMUNE PROBLEMS ARE A LIFE CHANGER, THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T UNDERSTAND. I HAVE LIVED WITH MY OWN FOR DECADES NOW. DON’T LET THE TROLLS GET YOU DOWN. I CAN ALREADY SEE THAT YOU ARE A TALENTED TEACHER. THERE ARE MANY MEDIUMS THAT I HAVE NOT EXPLORED, & IT’S FUN TO LEARN NEW THINGS. PLEASE KEEP TEACHING & SHARING YOUR ART.😘🎨🖌️
Hi Amy, you're an amazing artist and individual who's brave enough to share, thank you for being here!! I have a physical disability and an autoimmune disease and understand where you're coming from. Do what makes you happy!! For me regularly on YT: 20 mins or less tutorials, longer ones sometimes. Your art supplies testing/hauls are fantastic. Watercolour, sketching, drawing, ink, pencils, acrylics, pens and soft pastels are my favourite go-tos.
Unfortunately, it seems to be an inescapable part of today's world that social media is infected with these trolls whose sad, unfulfilled lives leads them to want to drag down the rest of the world to their own miserable level. Almost every channel I follow has had problems with this and I'm sorry they seem to have been hitting your channel recently. I'm also sad that the majority of these seem to members of my own sex with a particularly toxic version of misogyny. They delight (of course) in hitting out in a personal way and hope to get a reaction to feed their repulsive appetites. I think your solution is the absolutely correct one - don't engage with them at all, give them neither space nor time and just put a permanent block on them as soon as they appear. The future direction of your channel must be a tough one for you. On the one hand, you started with a mission to spread your love of art and use your professional background and expertise to spread that love to enable others to enjoy and advance their own various journeys in art. On the other hand you are a professional and need to make a reasonable income from your work, and high-performing videos will obviously give you a better return than the lower-performing ones (which seem mainly to be the tutorial style of video). I'm guessing that it's likely to be impossible to try to be 'all things to all people' - with different sections of your audience base having their own distinct preferences. I happen to think that you already put out a superb variety and range of videos (I've mentioned this in some of my earlier comments) and this seems to be reflected in the quite rapid growth in your subscriber numbers. So maybe you're already striking the right balance between tutorials, art hauls, product reviews, etc? Of course, it's also important that the balance is fulfilling for you too (in an artistic sense) and some of the changes in priorities that you've already made this year, seem to have given you more personal satisfaction - it definitely seemed to help you bust through that period of art block! Overall I think you've maybe already hit that 'sweet spot' for your channel and, going forward, need only consider incremental adjustments rather than a radical overhaul? Anyway, I just want to end by saying how much I've enjoyed your content since you started (I think I've been here almost the whole 2 years, having watched that very early video where you'd just given up your job) and I shall continue to support you and your channel whatever you decide about allocating content in different ways. Thanks for all the work you do for this community - kind regards, Brian.
Hello, I rarely leave comments on TH-cam, but I thought I'd let you know what got me subscribe to your channel recently. I have only watched a few of your videos yet, but I found the Color Theory 102 immensely helpful. I was teaching little kids printmaking and wondering why mixing red and blue never really make good purple... I mean, we all learn how to mix colors in primary school! Content wise, I really appreciate your knowledge based on your experience. Most of us cannot afford to try all the materials and techniques. I think it was you who taught me that using graphite under oil based material is not a good idea, and also graphite is water-activated and will muddy watercolor. Things like this, I find priceless! FIY I do not enjoy art haul, as you are testing something for the first time (most of the time). I personally want more of your tried-and-true type wisdom, including art materials. Thank you.
I think it's important to please yourself. These videos take a lot of energy and doing videos for the sake of other people would be like drawing landscapes when you want to draw only people. You won't be able to please everyone no matter what you do so please yourself. I tend to most happily follow TH-camrs who just naturally share their passion and processes and excitement over products they have chosen to try in their work. Not a fan of sponsored videos and art hauls and I often leave those videos. I do enjoy non-sponsored art hauls to learn about good products the artist has purchased for themselves. Best of luck with your journey!
I really like just listening to you talk about art while I paint or tidy up my studio. I have been inspired to restart my youtube thanks to you. Seems much love💙
I should have watched the whole video before commenting. lol. I would love full length tutorials or online classes. I did not have the opportunity to go to art school and have been mostly self taught through online classes like skillshare or domestika or you tube artists like yourself. Thank you for what you do!
I love the art chats, tutorials, and product reviews. I have really enjoyed how your channel has evolved over the last couple of years that I've been watching you. To all the haters... good riddance. No "job" is worth sacrificing your mental health or happiness. You are an amazing artist and human being and there are some of us truly here to support you whatever you do!
Also, I know you've struggled with your health and I just wanted to comment that right now you look so healthy so I hope that things are going well.
I'm so sorry people, and particularly some men have made you feel unsafe posting videos. What is wrong with people. I think you should post about your passions. You love to teach, so teach us about you process as an artist, different techniques, etc. I'm pretty sure I found you through the 5 things that are ruining...videos. I think if you try to please all the people, you'll just be overwhelmed. Ty for your videos.
I enjoy an actual full length tutorial. Most shorts make me crazy! I need instruction-at a regular pace. I love learning about the lives/ family of artists I follow as they talk, teach, and paint. Art hauls are fun but not all the time, and swatching is kinda boring-like literally watching paint dry! Since I can’t afford to be in Patreon for all the artists I enjoy, I really appreciate the artists who have continued to provide free instruction on a regular basis.
I hate key board bullies that would never say things to your face! I come to watch you because I like you and I am an artist as well. I cannot do membership right now because I just don't have the finances for that. But do what makes you feel safe.
Take good care of you!
The trolls mean you are doing a fantastic job here! Sadly the more popular your channel is, the more trolls come a slitherin’.
Make videos that make you happy and we will love them! Because we love spending time with you!
You are doing fabulous! Block those trolls!
I'm so sorry you are experiencing hate. It's great your channel has been getting more views and subscribers, but unfortunately that comes with more horrible people who just want to be nasty. Their opinions don't matter. I love you because you are such a warm, kind person and I love that you keep it real, even if it means mentioning the bad things that happen in life. But it makes you so relatable to many of us. I can't give too many tips as for what direction you should take things. I honestly love all your videos and plan to watch all of them. But I guess I especially like videos where you showcase a certain type of supply or material and how to utilize it. I also love art hauls, but that's not realistic to do all the time. lol I do love your more vlog-type videos but I understand if you want to cut back on those or save them for Patreon.
I’d be so interested in online classes, would Patreon be a better place though rather than another place? I’m just thinking would it over complicate things? I love your art and you’d be such a good teacher xx
Hi Amy, here since 2022. I remember you started this channel to make money since you had lost your job so it’s important to keep that in mind. I think of you as an illustrator, no shade, and am glad you’re working on your illustration portfolio. I’ve noticed many women on TH-cam who apologize for minor things like a dog barking or some random noise in the background. This makes them appear weak which invites criticism and ridicule from people looking for a reason to attack. Stop apologizing, sit up tall, move your hands all you want and be confident in yourself and your talent. That is what you’re lacking, nothing more. Once you can do this you’ll care less about the haters, just block them easy breezy, and move on with life. Here’s to you and yours❤️
You are an artist and a very nice person. Don't take seriously the bad comments. Erase them. No constructive comment needs to be here. And for your plans, do what you feel and like. We will appreciate it. ❤
You do right! There’s no place for mean people in a place like this, we’re all for the kind peaceful artistry. You’re a lovely person and you need to protect yourself from all the negativity ❤
I am a regular watcher of this channel. Thirty minutes is the limit of my patience for any talking head on youtube. I enjoy watch unboxing but skip swatching. I appreciate the instructions. I hope all goes well with your knee surgery. I broke my kneecap a few years ago but my surgery was easy, very easy compared to what you will undergo.
Hi! Nice to meet you and find your channel. First of all, I'm sorry that folks have been unkind to you. I'd love to see any tutorials you would do. I'm interested in sketching, coloring with colored pencils, and painting landscapes and animals. I hope you feel better soon. I've had 2 back surgeries and I completely understand pain, surgeries, and dealing with donors as I have bones donated to fix my herniated discs. I suffer from spine degeneration and I'm only 48. So, I understand what you're going through. Blessings to you and Happy Holidays!
Temu products are made by slaves including places that use child labor
I know that you also follow The Unexpected Gypsy … and have mentioned her Art Journaling… I would love to see some Art Journaling… does not have to be in-depth but just simple mixed media journaling 🤗
It must be awfully hard to maintain TH-cam content; I’ve heard similar laments from others about the responses in comments and difficulty figuring out constant content. I think be you, post what you want, when you want. We’ll show up for content that appeals to us and sparks our interest! For many of us it’s your personality that draws us in!
Random thoughts, none of which are helpful I'm afraid! I really enjoy your videos, tend to watch them late at night (cosied up with a tray of tea, as instructed 🙂). I really enjoyed the recent Holbein gouache/acrylic gouache review and will definitely get some next year (out of my birthday vouchers!). As for the trolls, one strike and out is a great idea. Could you ask someone close to do that for you so that you don't even have to see them? What do other content providers do about it? Might be worth asking around. I don't think I would be able to take up membership, I'm already over extended on that front, but I'm sure there are lots of other regular viewers and new subscribers who would love to try it. Try it and see! And lastly, one of the things I love most is your hands - I probably see them more than most because they are always just above the closed captions and they are a delight - please don't ever stop using your hands while teaching/speaking!
And you’re doing those lovely things beautifully. I appreciate your work so much. And your cheeks and face make me so happy and comforted. You are darling.
Every horrible comment made says everything about the commenter and nothing about you. Don't give them your energy or headspace Amy. Your videos are lovely and bring something positive to each day they're posted

Hi Amy! you're def doing the right think by instantly blocking those that post unkind comments. Life's too short for that kind of stuff - delete and move on. As to the king of content I like on your channel - I like it all and will be happy to watch all sorts - hauls, tutorials, chatty stuff - anything. What I do do though is keep the longer videos for my 'watch later' so I may not watch them when they first go up but come back to them sometimes a few weeeks later when I'm looking to watch longer content - maybe that's why they do seem to perform as well straight away - because they will build views more slowly than stuff you can watch quickly inbewteen doing chores or stuff. I'm looking forwrad to how your channel grows and progresses in 2025 and will no doubt love all the content :)
Thank you for this. I’d love to see more tutorials. That’s my favourite. I understand if it’s not getting views, though.
Please, you don’t need to explain yourself or your strategies for dealing with mean nasty people. Mean nasty people are just basically unhappy. Go spread your negativity elsewhere. I enjoy your channel so much. Feel sorry for the unhappy people and BLOCK THEM👍👍👍
Be you! I just like to watch what you post.
Realized you really do want input. I watch you because you are authentic and it’s like visiting a friend. I may not be into what my friend is into but still want to check in and see what they are up to. I’m also an artist who is trying to make videos. I’m not looking forward to the nasty side of the comments. I’m just starting out. I have never watched art supply videos before yours, so it’s really just that you are real and relatable. You have exposed me to supplies I’ve never used and that has been great. Just make the videos that interest you. I will watch!
Beautiful! I’m not a fan of charcoal. I have some but I never use them.
Amy I have a suggestion- I don’t think you should ever give these people leaving bad and mean comments attention especially while doing an episode. By doing this you are giving them credit and attention they want. I think it would be best to ignore them, don’t let them know it bothers you. These type attack the weak and when you talk about your mental health I or being afraid that’s just putting a bullseye on you. I was a flight attendant and it’s best not to engage with these types. I hope this helps - good luck
Some People are horrible. Don’t worry about them. How dare they treat you like this! I’ve only just found you and I really don’t care what you post. You post….ill watch.
Great Idea, thanks!
Love love love the art hauls!! ❤❤❤ Thank you!!!
I like all your videos. You are doing so good. Don't listen to the trolls. I also deleted a lot of bad comments on my tiny channel. Just don't give up and keep being yourself.
Thank you for everything you do on your channel. I know it's a lot of work and I appreciate all your efforts. As a fellow artist I know it's mandatory to first satisfy ourselves so keep that in mind. As for the haters keep blocking them. Wishing the best for you in 2025.
Flow .....oooh good word!
Amy, your channel is GREAT! I love watching it - every format but especially your art hauls and swatching. THANK YOU for your hard work and dedication!!!!
