I know the negative comments can be the few that makes sense you rethink youtube. And this is because we are human, it is human nature to want to be liked and to fit in. But please do not forget the thousands and I mean THOUSANDS of people and comments that are showing love, light, and support. You are admired and loved! Stick to the good and overcome the bad. ❤❤
I really enjoy your show on the internet. I am an older artist, ( age 61) trained from way back in the 1980s,😀 and there are a lot of new products out there that I would like to try, but I watch your show to make sure I do not waste my money on anything that is not appropriate for my projects. 😊
You are doing a great job! Product reviews are very helpful for an art community. They help people see whether they want to buy an art supply or not. I think a lot of people don't understand that TH-cam channels are a JOB! They are like producing a show, except they are not on regular TV and usually one person is doing the work of 100s of people in a regular TV show. Nobody complains about all the shows on the Travel Channel or the Bob Ross show! If they don't like it, they can change the channel a.k.a watch someone else!
I love your videos, you do a wonderful job, and you can talk about yourself all you want! We watch to see what YOU are up to, not some robot! Keep up the good work, and we'll all be there for you! Have a Great Day!
As boring as my husband found this (the non artist), I was absolutely riveted by all the trials of different materials. I love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
people who have nothing better to do than tear others down are miserable people. Don't let them get you down. I really enjoy your channel and all of its content including the talking :) I too suffer from autoimmune disease and get comfort and stress relief from making art and watching it on YT. Keep up the good work!!
I always LOVE how you always inform everyone about a supply’s lightfastness. I don’t care what you use as long as you don’t sell things that are fugitive. Just be careful that moving away from lightfast supplies isn’t just so there’s more to buy. :) (dopamine be cray)
Lisa from the Frugal Crafter really likes Holbein Gouache. I very recently watched a review she did on them and I asked her about them specifically in a live stream last week. I am just now exploring gouache. It has an interesting learning curve for me.
I've been on a self-imposed 'use what you already have' regime for quite a while now, and I miss the thrill of having one of those magical Blick boxes delivered. It was great to see your excitement at the arrival of your own delivery and thanks for letting us all share in the unboxing. There's a lot of inspiration amongst all those new materials for future projects and it'll be interesting to see them eventually appear in future videos. Best wishes and kind regards, Brian.
Lovely video Amy. Take no notice of the ones that say nasty things they have nothing better to do with their time. I love your videos and have not longed subscribed to your channel and I love your Videos xx 🥰
Really enjoyed this art hault, your enthusiasm made me smile and the music during your swatching and testing was very relaxing. Interesting to see how each product layered.
Welcome! I hope you enjoy! And it's so funny, because I just spent today cleaning and organizing MY studio! Lol! Great minds think alike! Thanks for watching!
I find the layering test really useful! I got a bunch of liquitex acrylic pens without much thought, just an impulse buy, really, the colors were so beautiful... And then I got anxious... And now I know I can't expect much, really... Good thing I got a bunch of matching neocolor II... at least those will layer to some extent... hahahah Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you wow that was a lot of things to swatch but it's worth it. I enjoyed seeing how everything reacted. Have a great rest of your day. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.
Hi Amy, definitely give the So Flat a go for under painting if you prefer a more matte finish. I’ve found that it handles pretty much anything I stick on top of it. The other excellent product I use for a matte under painting is LeFranc Bourgeois Flashe paint. I like Naples Yellow Light, Pink Ochre and Grey Green. ❤️❤️❤️
Loved the swatching video Amy. Always love your art hauls too. You make everything so exciting! ❤ The neocolor one is my favorite. It is wonderful in mixed media projects, especially watercolor. Also the two royal talen creation sketchbooks are my favorites. I use those pencils too. Great purchase!!!😊
Great haul. Is there a specific sheen or glossiness level you're looking for with acrylics? I have an amount of information on how brands compare in terms of glossy finish. But I'll spare you the soapbox (unless you actually want it) 😂
The gouache you got is very good. Holbein and Windsor Newton are the best ones you can get imo and other gouache instructors I follow. I just ordered the neocolor 2’s a selection like you did I hope I love them too!
A most excellent swatching video 🎉. I really liked the background music. I did learn quite a bit about different art supplies that I have but haven’t played with yet. 😊
Hullo Amy, I read some comments and it seems like your getting some negative comments or very negative feedback. Sometimes negative feedback can be constructive, other times it is just an unhappy person taking their bad day out on you! You are a lovely person and I do enjoy watching you create your art. I have made some non-archival art and I still regret it to this day! Now some artwork, like parade floats, do not last no matter what! Yet I have a yellowing portrait of my sister that was done on some very acidic paper and it is horrible, falling apart and I have scanned it, but the original was done on that brown throw-away paper and I regret using that to this day! It was only an exercise that I was supposed to learn from and I just hit a groove and it is one of my best siting portraits I have yet to do! Working from a live subject is so very different than working from a photo or a still life, even a landscape does not move. Sure the light will change but it is not moving about(twitching) or changing expressions! I enjoy your videos and I hope you listen to all of the positive people watching your videos and ignore the ones just looking to feel better about themselves, by bringing you down. Stay safe and positive and be well!
Great video Amy. Holbein has info on their website but you have to dig around for it in their files section and it doesn’t help that the file info is in Japanese. Wish I could share links but cannot on here. They have downloadable booklets on both their watercolors and gouache but they are found in two different files (hint: the watercolor booklet has a red cover and the gouache booklet has a Grey cover.) They use a 5 category scale for lightfastness - no mark = no permanency. 1 star = fugitive. 2 star = moderately lightfast. 3 stars = Lightfast. 4 stars = Absolutely lightfast.
While me drawing/colouring clouds from photos, you skribbled colournames and swatched them down, (we both) listening only to the (asmr kind of) Sounds and the soft music in the background: I noticed that the Flow sat in quiete easily/emediatly! Now, I wonder, if you made already Videos without words: just soft drawing/writing/colouring (with Pencils) Sounds with such nice music and nature Sounds (e.g. forest) in the background? It is always nice, drawing with a fellow Artist in such a peaceful Atmosphere. Thank you, Amy, and have a Great time!
Your excitement is contagious. I enjoy your videos and how inspired I get. ❤ I've been in a slump here lately 😢, and I need to take my studio apart and redo it. My sister died last year, and my bro gave me all their art supplies, and my studio is an overwhelmed mess. Again, thanks for another great video. ❤ and 🫂.
If you have an art center that teaches children, you could donate some of the extras. One of our senior centers does art over various venues. If you have an area like that, they might also be able to use some extra. All this is assuming you want to give your sister's supplies away. Hugs and I hope you are better soon.
I use oil pastels in my sketchbooks all the time and I just put a piece of tracing paper or grease proof baking paper in between the pages rather than waste my fixative (miserly scottish woman 😂)
Hi Amy, love your videos! Question- where did you get the thin flat plastic container for Neocolors. I find if I put them in something that they are stacked, I forget what colors I have 😅. Thanks! ~ Kathy B
I gave away all my Tombow markers because I do mainly watercolor painting and need my inking to be waterfast. I don't like drawing with markers because I can always see the strokes. Love your videos and will be watching to the end on each on to be sure to support you and your wonderful family.
I've been eyeballing those Caran d'Ache oil pastels for while now. I have some Neo 1's but haven't really been all that thrilled with them. They literally feel like a pigmented crayola crayon to me. I think I will likely just get the set of 24 oil pastels. It's cheaper that way than buying them open stock. Of course, that means I will miss out on some fantastic colors, but I do like what colors are included. I love those Art Creations sketchbooks. I always use wet media in them, although more of a line and wash rather that a full one watercolor piece. I used to hate it when a sketchbook got all crinkly but now I get a lot of satisfaction out of it for some strange reason. Maybe it's because you can tell at a glance that a fat, crinkly sketchbook is well loved. Or maybe I am just weird. Or some of both! haha Oh, and I love those Strathmore sketchbooks as well! I prefer the soft cover over hard cover, but I would take either if someone were to give it to me. Lastly, I loved your excitement over those pastels! It is infectious!
Try the neo-color 2’s! You can put down the color then go over it with water with a brush or your finger or a spritz…and there are so many ways you can use them. Much more satisfying than the neo-color 1’s.
I love Tombows! I have a ton of them that I have had for 25 years and the only ones that dried out are the ones I totally used up! I honestly wear out the brush tips before the ink runs out.
Super fun, thank you! I need to watch your product videos before purchasing for sure. Lots of great information. I would love to know if the watercolour markers blended out nice if you use water and a brush? I have some Faber Castel and they work great on watercolour paper but don't work with water in my sketchbook. I am with you on trying to keep to lightfast materials. As artists we chose our colours with such care. They set the tone for the artwork, make the eye travel in a certain way, and supply defined values. To have that change over time is upsetting. It breaks my heart to see old paintings and know that they had different colours originally. I'm like you and only mess with non lightfast materials in my sketchbook.
i hope you make lots of beautiful art with these,i got acrylic markers and need to use them more,i would like videos on marker art please,so good to see you
I think the Rose Pink Winsor & Newton, is from the first series......look at the colour banding....it's wavy on the new series, but straight on the old.....great video thank you.
I don't have full sets of anything because there are colours I just don't reach for, and it's a pain when I find a supply I love that doesn't do open stock. I've bought a few neopastels, similar to yourself I just bought some landscape colours (different colours to yours as I'm in rainy Scotland 😂). I'm so glad I don't have full set syndrome - I'd have so much unused stuff!!!! Lightfastness isn't the be all and end all, art should be about enjoyment - not everything has to make you money. Some of it can just be play and experimentation 😊 great video 😊
If you're thinking about getting the bigger Poscas, just know that the ones with the big chisel tips (their PC-17K range) only come in 10 colours. Your best bet is their smaller chisel tips, which is their PC-8K pens. They come in 33 colours :) As for the watercolour markers, Winsor & Newton has 36 colours in total and Faber-Castell has 30 as you said.
I LOVE Holbein gouache. It’s the creamiest. Thanks for sharing so many products with us today and showing how they work together. ❤ FYI Jaune Brilliant is French. Pronounced almost like ‘John’. 😅
I really wish you could buy neocolour ii half sets. Like if the bottom tray was available on its own I'd totally buy that 🤷 same for their neopastels - the top layer just has too many colours I can't use - there must be artists out there who are the opposite way around. Anyone want to go halves?😂
Sweetheart, if you can't toss the mean things people say then stop reading this part. I don't comment. Because options are like assholes everyone has one and its worth just as much. Love the comments you put In at editing. Stay strong
How do you de-stress on a regular basis if you can't spend money or order new things? That would be an interesting on-going video series to watch. It seems like Americans de-stress with spending $, but it doesn't seem to work well, because every week a new video shows more purchases needed to help with feeling better. It would also be really interesting if you added what the cost of each item was and added it up every week to see how much money is spent in a month, quarterly and yearly if you are going to continue with de-stressing and art haul videos. All these supplies would make great donations to schools, shelters, libraries once the urge for something new is temporarily satisfied. Donation videos would also be a really interesting on going series. Thanks for sharing. Hope you feel happier soon.
A lot of creators receive commissions from companies and/ or get great discounts for showing their products, or even sometimes free products. Also, within the US tax code their is a write off against income for business expenses. As long as the products purchased are featured in a video, they are a business expense that can be written off against income. Most creators you see on youtube (US at least) are not just out there spending their own money shopping for stress relief. And what people choose to spend their money on is their own business just as which channels you can choose to watch or not watch. Also, many creators with Patreon or use other platforms that require a monthly membership fee, do many other projects, using up product, that youtube viewers are not privy to.

Yey! Another chatty video! Love it! I would love to see a video where you work with clay.
Could you show us some sculpy work, maybe some basics about it and how to? I have never tried anything like it,I’m curious.
As boring as my husband found this (the non artist), I was absolutely riveted by all the trials of different materials. I love your videos. Thanks for sharing.

I love my Holbein gouache! One of the best professional lines of gouache.
Thank you for sharing Amy
Just found you channel. Binge watching/listening as I clean my studio😻💙😻
Welcome! I hope you enjoy! And it's so funny, because I just spent today cleaning and organizing MY studio! Lol! Great minds think alike! Thanks for watching!
I love the Tombow watercolor markers for my sketchbook. Very fun haul and I hope everything fills in those blank spots in your supplies.
Wonderful video, so many wonderful things in this haul ❤️ Thank you so for swatching everything!

So funny and completely true

Wow, what a great haul. Loved seeing your excitement!😊 dip back to that feeling going forward. Everything will be okay. 🙂
I did not know that you had a shop!
Exciting! I need to order a Blick box- haven’t done that in ages.
You look so much better, stronger and loved your laughter and smile! Hang in there you’ve got this!!
Love❤
LOVED the soothing music... great for evening wind down watching!!!
Yay how fun!❤😊
Love the new colors. Good to know that spray yellows the page.

I think we all had a Lisa Frank trapper keeper! I still love Lisa Frank! Hope ur shoulder is doing well! XoXo
Me too! :) I kind of wish I still had it! My shoulder healed from surgery pretty well, thanks for asking! And thank you for watching!

lovely music

I like to watch your excitement with the new art supplies 😂
We love your videos, thank you for making such enjoyable content ❤
Nice haul amy, I believe the tombow markers are dual tip too if I remember correctly. Looking forward to your future art piece's
That ash blue! 💙😱🤩 I need that, adds to cart.. lol😂
Great haul video! I enjoyed testing out the media for layering.

Terrific video! I use the luminance pencils a lot.😊
i hope you make lots of beautiful art with these,i got acrylic markers and need to use them more,i would like videos on marker art please,so good to see you
I really love the Strathmore mixed media sketchbooks but I always get soft cover. I think I have three in my back stock.
Lightfastness isn't the be all and end all, art should be about enjoyment - not everything has to make you money. Some of it can just be play and experimentation 😊 great video 😊
Beautiful colours I love the luminance I have the whole set they are just beautiful to use.. thank you for sharing ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxxx I just recently added caran D Ache 20 landscape 20 Museum to my collection I mainly do adult colouring in I have been offed money to sell my colouring in but can’t sell due to copyright ©️ reasons my colouring in is on my TH-cam channel i stopped putting content up due to medical issues
watch out with the Windsor Newton - got one that seems fine till I used the chisel end and it was almost completely dry
You said you are taking an illustration course? Where on a Patreon? With who..thanks for the share
It's a 8 week illustration course. It's through the goodship illustration. Hope that help!
I have a Night Blue Neocolor II that I purchased from Jackson’s. So it is available. They also have it in their pastel pencil line.
😀😍
Yay! You got some Neopastels. Aren't they beautiful?
Still good! 💋
What do you spray your oil pastels with? Love your chattie videos!
Parchment is deceptive, it is quite green.
❤❤❤

Fyi, FC Earth Green 172 has a twin in the Tombows - #228 Gray Green. One of my favorites
Interesting that the WN Raw Sienna is so yellow. Would be so nice if they could match the hue to their actual Raw Sienna paint hue.
♥️♥️♥️🤩🎨
I would love to play with clay. I’ve made cakes with sugar clay. But it costs so much for the supplies.
Heads up on the caran d'ache neocolors; they are not as lightfast as they claim to be! Did my own tests
The ultramarine will dissapear completely after a while, I came to find out 😢
Ugh. That's so disappointing to hear. I hate that we can't just trust these art supply companines.
♥️Holbein
You should do ASMR videos, no talking just using your different products. You are a natural at it.
I really wish you could buy neocolour ii half sets. Like if the bottom tray was available on its own I'd totally buy that 🤷 same for their neopastels - the top layer just has too many colours I can't use - there must be artists out there who are the opposite way around. Anyone want to go halves?😂
