XLPower Nimbus 550 Nitro | Rotorflight 2 | Trying RF2 Gov with Nitro!
มุมมอง 55521 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is my first nitro heli! I will never financially recover from this. Testing out Rotorflight 2 governor, everything on defaults. Only had time to install the RPM sensor and test it once. Will tune it over the weekend :) Engine is in need of more tuning, it's still a bit rich. Just a random flight after some tuning. Really happy with my OMP M7! Simple and well engineered and just beautiful! I love how the collective and cyclic feels with the longer grip arms it comes with. Decided to give Spirit GT another go and use this heli for it. Still feeling it out and figuring out what I like as far as style and tune. Very stable but also very smooth. My latest Rotorflight build! Picked up a used Logo 700 and added my Egodrift 4525HS 515kv, Hobbywing Platinum V4 130A, and Theta C1/T1 servos. Running Rotorflight 2 snapshot 20231118 on a CC3D Revo I picked up from All E RC for $15! Have to use a Y harness to add a BEC buffer/cap and SH1.0 connectors for the RX and ESC telemetry connections, but I can't complain for $15. Pretty cool that even w...

nice flight bud.... beautiful..... I literally got the exact same setup as you on every component..... I did just order the 650 stretch and 20 tooth pinion. Dont know yet if I will change it. I ended up at 1.2 on the mid and 1.4 on high needles. What are you at. I like the tune of your motor better.
Thanks! I’m actually right around there too, maybe a touch richer on both. It might have just been a really good day for nitro lol. I’m debating going to the 20t gear too because I prefer flying around 2000-2100 rpm more than the 2200-2300 it’s geared for.
Lands slower than the YA F-16 DF 😂
130 is all you need. Look at that LIGHT wing loading.
What a sweetheart Shaun
Nice flying
You got some mad thumbs bro , very nice flying.
Ha Ronert, Can you share you setup on the TX?
any chance you could share your rotorflight DIFF?
Very nice flying. You must have been an aircraft carrier pilot in a prior life, with that cool landing!
any idea where you power the nexus fbl controller from...i assume it is a y lead to an existing servo lead? I have found this simple issue impossible to see documented anywhere...weird.
Any of the ports on the servo header can accept power, similar to most other FBLs. Generally the ESC will have a BEC which will power it through the ESC port (and sometimes RPM too) 🙂 The only thing to NOT do, is do NOT power it through any of the 4 ports on the top (A, B, C, and DSM). Those have voltage regulators for 5v and 3.3v output, and it's typically not a good idea to back-feed voltage regulators.
@@RobertBurrow87 thanks for the conformation...i thought i might be going mad....yeah my esc has no BEC.... the rpm port i had not thought about so thanks for that great idea, ill pop in a couple of power leads into my remaining two blanks on that connector for my power :).....thanks for the info and i do think some people will struggle to find this info no matter how logical it appears to many. thanks
Wish sensor?
XGuard RPM SuperSensor. But I am wondering if the backplate sensor version might work a little better for spoolup with the way Rotorflight currently works 🤔
Good flying, did sound a bit rich, what RPM are you running?
Thanks! Yeah still a new engine and trying to err on the safe side since I'm figuring out nitro heli engine tuning at the same time. That was 2100 RPM
Well done Rob.
Damn man. You've got this heli thing wired to ground.
Great flight Rob all i can say is WOW
Ditto
Nice flying, what's your head speed?
Can't remember exactly but it was most likely 1700, give or take 50.
Very nice! How much time did it take to get the PID's set how you like them?
Now that I have been using Rotorflight for a while, I can usually get the PIDs to a very good point in just a couple flights. Like any new FBL, it took some time and experimenting to get an idea of what to change to get the right feel.
Does it work with Nitro?
There are a few guys trying Rotorflight on nitro and it seems to be working with it. I don't have first hand experience with it though, might be best to hop in the Rotorflight Discord and ask how it's working for them :) discord.gg/6QUySXdEvd
Is it nitro compatible, specifically its governor function?

Super well done video man!
Yet doing anything close to this with a Quad drone would be a Major Crime against Humanity from the AMA fixed wingers.
Great Video Rob short and to the point and I must say some pretty nice Mad Skills with the flight portion Take Care
Great video and and great flying, Robert! Good to see this new exiting stuff! I believe this will start a new era for advanced heli control!
Amazing what they can cram in a tiny box. And the best mounting option? Double sided tape, smh. Lovely box, but would have been beautiful with a fixing point at each corner, maybe gummied?! 😊
I’ve seen on discord Dr Rudder (father of RF) recommend fixing FC as direct to airframe as possible ie dbl side tape so that the gyro gets all the vibration/moving data so that filters can deal with the ones you don’t want as accurately as possible. Gummies not recommended.
Awsome video, any chance you could do a setup video using the Nexus? I would be interested to see what the setup process is like. Considering it has a RPM port, I imagine it has built in governor? How does this governor perform?
Now that Rotorflight 2 is released, I think we will start to see setup videos! And yes you really want RPM with Rotorflight because it uses the RPM and gear ratios to filter noise. The governor works very well and is highly tunable. It was written with electric in mind, but there are a few people making it work with nitro too.
@@RobertBurrow87 awsome, thank you for the response. I'll be looking forward to more videos about it soon!
10/10 presentation
Nice Rob. And great job to Radiomaster and Rotorflight.
Awesome video, thanks Robert!
easy tuning this rotorflight?same as beastx?
No, it is a bit more complicated than that 😆
looks like the damage is very little :)
Yes just blades and one servo arm! Was expecting worse 😃
Sweet!
can u show us your values? P/I/D and so on, best would be a screenshot. Thanks
do you know F722V2 rotorflight is compatible with specktrum?is it possible to plug and connect any dsmx satellite?
Honestly I'm not entirely sure what Spektrum receivers/satellites require to be connected. I imagine there's a way depending on what voltage they need. I know Rotorflight 2 supports SRXL2 too which might be easier to make work.
I got u
Very impressive flight. I'm still waiting impatiently for the M7 to be released here in Germany. I'm going to fly mine with the Spirit GT too, can you post your setup?
Thank you! I ended up reinstalling Rotorflight--not because there was anything wrong with Spirit, I just wanted to get more time on Rotorflight 2 RC1. Ideally I'd have one M7 on Spirit and one M7 on Rotorflight! With the setup in the description and Spirit GT, I did not deviate far from defaults. I typically just raise the cyclic gain a few percent, increase piro consistency 10-15 points, and adjust style and feed forward until it feels right. I tend to do nearly the same things to every heli I've had on Spirit. It looks like I forgot to mention I was running the longer 37mm blade grip arms that come with the kit in this video. The 32mm ones work well too, I just wanted to try the longer ones and installed them at the same time as the Spirit GT.
Nice helicoptering
Robert, you haven't lost your touch. I haven't been down to Cholas for a while. How's the road to the runway since the rains.
Stupid clean!
crazy pilot
Great stuff, interested to see the RF build
Beautiful and very smooth flight, Robert! The M7 sounds amazing at these RPM. Good that you came to grips with the Rotorflight 2 RC1!
Nice
butter <3
Do a spirit setup video please! Their are nt really any out the at the moment.
Great flying Rob. I can see all the work you have put into your flying skills. Your flying has got better. Sorry to see it go in but glad the damage was minimal.
Nice flying man!
Oopsie
Ooops! Thats a sad ending of a really great and very round and smooth flight! Good that the damage was not too severe!! I love your style of flying. It looks very esthetic and is a joy to watch! A bit like a dancing helicopter!!
Ouch! Poor little guy. You were really ripping it though!
Yeah, was having fun and didn't think far enough ahead! lol

love your smooth style my man!
