Awesome vid man, almost finished this in an hour or so
Nice job! It looks hard but not too bad when you get to it 🤙🏽
Why didn't you show it slipping on? Every part store says thats the wrong part number
Hmm what no way! I worked at orielys when I made this video. The part number I showed I got it myself and it went on nicely 🤔
Great freaking vid! I don't hit the sub button much, but I definitely hit it today! Thanks a trillion!
Thanks for the support! I want to continue making more videos but barely got any subs 😅
💯
Thanks for this video I was looking all around on my 2006 ram diesel and never thought to look on that can.
@@UncleMikeH no problem! Glad it helped it’s a little hidden ha
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It was very helpful. Also I will like to ask. How many hours it took you to start and finish this job😊
No problem thanks for your support! It took about 2 hours the first time 🤔 this was the second time I’ve changed this one, it takes 45 mins if you use the shortcuts in this video
Is the radiator for the manual 1.8 any different than the automatic?
It should be the same, you can leave the bottom ports exposed since it won’t use the transmission cooler on the manual. No coolant or anything flows through those so you could use the automatic radiator unless the parts store made one specifically for the manual. Usually not the case since it saves them money only seen it make a difference on Subarus
Thank you for the video! On my customer's 06 Sonata the power line connector to the alternator was a 13mm, and so were the alternator mounting bolts, but otherwise everything was a perfect insight on replacement 🙏🏾💪🏾💯
No problem thanks for the support! Glad it helped this one’s pretty tricky!
Thank u gonna do this today

@tonytorques yeah it was ez but as soon as I filled it up, I can hear an audible leak so I think I must take it into a shop there is probably other issues lol have a good night bro
@@kidchunguswrx2524 oof uh oh well good luck! You can also buy the ac dye injector and try to find it using a uv light after injecting It. Bit of a process but good luck! Thanks by the way!
Thank you for helping me with this job., I just changed my sons radiator in his Sentra and it only took me a couple of hours. This video really helped me out.
No problem! Glad it helped! These cars are really well engineered! Easy to work on
word of advice, sort the oil leak out before changing the alternator, i learnt that the hard way.
I suggested that but the customer did not want to at the moment, I think her head gasket was starting to leak oil to make it worse 😅 kept making her alternator go out but eh cheaper to replace than get that head gasket done
Don’t have to go through the wheel well, just reach a little further down
Thanks Tony Torques, all the other videos on this alternator replacement were incomplete, really glad I found yours!!! Extremely complete narrative and so helpful with sizes of bolts and insight into difficulties to avoid!!!
@@davidpuffer7661 thanks for the support! Glad the video helped out!
I like the part where he was pulling it out, got stuck, paused then tada! Sitting on the intake
My 2008 toyota rav4 sport needs a new engine and was wondering if it would be the same process? Its a 2.4L based on my vin that I looked up.
@@zeronw7612 process should pretty much be the same, the body style and engine stayed the same maybe just slightly different harness but the major steps in this vid should be the same
Awesome
🤤
Do you think the same tips you are giving in this video apply to pull a 2001 AWD Rav4 1AZ engine out?
Yes should be pretty similar
It would be a good idea to put something to protect the radiator so it don’t get all busted up
Yes a price of cardboard or wood would be great but I’ve changed this one out 3 times already so really used to it
This is what TH-cam is for
Thanks for your support!
Straight to the point . Excellent explaintaion I just got me engine from wrecked toyota hyprid prius got 2az fe . I'm going swap my rav4 today .
nice! Thanks for your support! its an easy swap and kinda fun ha Goodluck!
No video of actually changing it?
You need a video to show how to remove screws and put them back in?
Unbolt the subframe, shocks, jack the car up really high. You can use cinder blocks in a locking pattern on the back, maybe a level or two. Drop the jacks and wheel that engine out of there. Engine and trans out in 2 hrs or less.
It's easier this way, done a full swap and running in 5 hours taking breaks. Love 4 cylinders 😊
That’s the proper way to do it according to the books, never seen it done though 🤔 plus my garage is pretty small 😅
Anyone know how to make sure you Order the right radiator for this car? Mine's a 2004 1.8 and I can't read the label, nor can i find any site that show how to order by Radiator part number. I just don't want to order one and find it is the wrong part.
Looks like oil is leaking down under the block there
Mines 2x worse and I have to do the oem alternator on a 06 with 150k. Brake cleaner? Super degreaser soak? Replace all pulleys, new alternator and belt? Is the sludge acting like a gasket? I'm not doing any gaskets. This was a loaded test drive model that all the women in the family (even the "men") were EXTREMELY hard on and I've had to fix since the warranty expired. I've bought it a brand new set of tires 6 months ago that have been in the trunk and backseat. I bought Lifetime alignment at pep boys after I rebuilt the suspension, all they have to do is make an appointment. I know I'm going to punch a hole in the radiator even with cardboard. One guy claims you can't get the bolt out, the other video makes no mention of it. I'm going the remove everything route- tire, plastic, dipstick, every connector, radiator hose 4 brackets. 😢
Oh yea the head gasket seems to have been going out on that car causing the leak. Seems to be a common issue with the higher mileage ones. The leak kept making the alternator go bad so the owner of the vehicle decided to sell it a few months after this video was made.
Oh yes this alternator is pretty tuff compared to other vehicles but if you do what I did in this video it should cover all the steps
You never showed putting belt on
Would a swivel socket set work just fine?
I tried a swivel, it was too long! And hard to get the socket on the plug with it. There’s a piece of metal that sticks out too much from the body so I don’t think it will work unless you found a stubby swivel (;
Can u show how to put in refrigerate?
Make sure to put it on the low side if you have a diy can! R134a is not sold in Washington however
Awesomeness
Thanks for your support!
I get from underneath. At 65 yrs old. Yes it's a PITA
Can never be too easy
Just what I was going to say remove the retire and get to the plug and stop wasting our time on this useless video.
It takes at least 5 times more time wasted to take off the tire and fender liner than to just use a stubby? So this is actually saving y’all time
Remove the tire. Its easy
Idk if you got a stubby, I think it’s easier to use it than to take out the tire 🤔
Inner fender liner not in the way?
@@thangknowa3288 yea I think you’d have to remove the fender liner too if you remove the wheel so the stubby way is a lot easier. You still got a bad angle to deal with too going through the wheel well
Yep, that's what I thought, thanks for posting. I would anti seize that plug's threads too, for future visits!@@tonytorques
@@thangknowa3288 yes. It has some clips and about 3 screws.
Take the pulley off to get to second bolt
I’ll try that if I ever have to do this job again 🤙🏽
Can you pull the engine out like this with a 5 speed manual transmission, or only with an automatic?
If you got a manual transmission it’s actually easier to do the same engine pull, you can do it the same way too!
@@tonytorques but the clutch has to be removed from the fly wheel, otherwise there isn’t enough clearance to pull the engine up. The torque converter can be detached, but I’m not sure the clutch can be, or can it be?
@@TimezUp23 ah ok yea the flywheel cannot be unattached without taking out the pressure plate and clutch first, you may be able to jack up the engine and trans together to get the clearance to pull the trans out first then the engine so it actually would be a little more work
Great video, thanks for the info.
No problem! Thanks for the shout out
Would you say this procedura will be the same for the 2.5 2AR-FE engine?
I think it is the same since the transmission is the same and only the block is bigger but process is similar
Great words of wisdom
Thanks!

@@rjoog super easy job
Unbelievably simple. Your instructions were spot on. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but car parts can scare me a bit. The whole process took less than an hour and that includes a trip to AutoZone for some new hose clamps!

Question: at about 1:40 into the video, when you removed the transmission fluid hose at the bottom, how much transmission fluid did you lose? Is there still transmission fluid in the radiator? Did you have to add transmission fluid back after the job was completed due to fluid loss? If so, how much? Thank you for your help!
I didn’t lose much! I had to top it off with about a quarter of a quart (1/16” of a gallon) so barely anything but I did face the hoses upwards immediately after removing them that way minimal fluid is lost 🤙🏽 no problem! Please like and subscribe to show your support (:
Great vid man, u basically took my alternator out for me😅

Great vid man, u basically took my alternator out for me😅
Thanks! It was a real tricky one but I provided enough info to make it easy 🤙🏽 please consider subscribing to show your support! Thanks (:
Seems like pulling the exhaust manifold first would be a solid choice given its got to come off for the top out removal anyways
Yes it does if you’re pulling the engine, check out the rav4 engine removal video I made it gots all the details! 🤙🏽
Thank you for the video! I noticed that the access to flywheel cover is a plastic cover, easily removed. Just out of curiosity, since the plastic cover doesn't necessary "seal" the housing, wouldn't it be possible for water to get in if driven through a puddle?
Yea it would! But it gets hot enough in there and the bolts spin too quickly for any corrosion to grow so it’s fine
Helped a lot. Thanks
No problem! Please subscribe to show your support! Thanks!
Thanks for the info, my tensioner pulley broke off. Good to know it's an easy fix
