MTB Saddle Injury WARNING
มุมมอง 160หลายเดือนก่อน
Hollow - safety channel - MTB saddles can snap and cause serious (if not fatal) injury. This is exactly what happened to me, so I've put this video together in hope to prevent others from getting injured. Please note, this safety hazard only becomes relevant if you fall hard on such saddle. Therefore if you just ride on flat surfaces and don't engage in any form of jumps, then you probably don'...
DIY e-Bike Carrier for tiny campers A-frame - Full Build
มุมมอง 1.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Do you have a tiny camper and a heavy large e-Bike and unsure how to transport it? Then, this video is for you. I have faced this exact challenge when I got my first e-Bike. These bikes are heavy and most roof rack based bike carriers are not adequate for carrying eBikes. I also don't feel comfortable transporting such bikes at the back of my trailer both because it adds a lot of extra weight a...
DIY vertical bike rack in a car collision
มุมมอง 6036 หลายเดือนก่อน
My DIY vertical bike rack has been smashed by another car, so in this video I'm sharing the results of this accident. Overall, I'm really happy how my custom built vertical bike rack handled this type of an accident. When dealing with heavier type of bikes, such as e-bikes, towbar mounted bike racks are the most viable option, so even though it puts your bike in the line of impact, there is no ...

Squaredrop Camper Mistakes, Learnings and Improvements
มุมมอง 25Kปีที่แล้ว
Hi, I'm Elvis Svonja, and in this video I talk about various mistakes that I made during the build of my first square drop camper. This video also covers various learnings and improvements on this trailer that have improved our camping experience. Feel free to provide constructive comments with any questions or suggestions. I acknowledge that there are things that I could have done differently ...
Mechanical Brakes Installation on Squaredrop Camper Trailer
มุมมอง 13Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I share detailed steps of how I installed a mechanical brakes kit including full axle and wheel assembly, as well as new brake enabled coupling on my squaredrop camper trailer. When I first built my squaredrop camper, I used an axle kit from an old trailer. That proved to be one of the biggest mistakes of my build as the old kit just wasn't adequate nor good enough. Eventually I e...
Snow Camping at Mt Stirling
มุมมอง 670ปีที่แล้ว
In this video three of my mates and myself tried snow camping for the first time. We stepped away from the rat-race, all the busyness and noise, and traveled to mountains, where we hiked and camped. There was a lot of anticipation and some uncertainty about the trip, but in the end it ended up being a great experience. The simple life in the pristine mountains is beautiful and immensely therape...
Fastest Way to Warm up your Bed
มุมมอง 12K2 ปีที่แล้ว
If you live further away from the equator the winters can get cold and sometimes it can be quite a challenge getting into a cold bed. I personally don't use heating at night because too much heat negatively effects the quality of your sleep. Additionally it is best to only use the right thikness of covering that will result in comfortable temperature at night. Too much or too little will disrup...
DIY Recycled Timber Rustic Coffee Table build
มุมมอง 1.6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I build a custom rustic looking outdoor coffee table from recycled cypress pine posts. I love reusing old materials and recycling. My wood making skills are very basic, but it's quite easy to make a rustic style furniture, because any imperfections are part of the desired look. Thank you for watching.
Ice Baths - I keep doing it
มุมมอง 2122 ปีที่แล้ว
Cold water exposure has been a huge part of my wellbeing routine. It has been difficult for me to go for more than two weeks without going back to 2-3 minute ice baths. It has improved my resilience, mental health, physical health, immunity, motivation, mood, energy, cardio-vascular system, blood circulation and I've even largely got rid of my migraines after 25 years. We live in a world over-s...
DIY Squaredrop Camper FULL BUILD Walkthrough

Hi, I'm Elvis Svonja, and during 2021 I've built my first squaredrop camper (aka tiny camper or teardrop trailer) called Glacier Explorer. This video provides a detailed walkthrough of this squaredrop camper build - built completely from scratch. I have also uploaded short timelapse videos of building the base frame of this trailer as well as the main box (see my channel). This camper was desig...
Short Desert Film recorded at Stockton Dunes

DIY Vertical bike rack full build
มุมมอง 27K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi, in this video I wanted to share how I've built a custom prototype DIY vertical bike rack. This type of rack is mostly suitable for mountain bikes. Firstly I'd like to point out an ERROR in the video - at 7:12 seconds I read out that the hoops are positioned 26.5 cm above the T-bar, but the actual distance is 16.5 cm. If you need one of these racks for your bikes, I highly recommend that you...

Seriously well done! Easily one of the best I've ever seen.

great work 👌🏼👍🏼😍
This is awesome to see an australian video of a camper build - Did you consider using an existing trailer as a base?
Thank you. I did, and I probably would in the future but it was tricky to find the specific base to suit my needs. Also I didn't want to deal with hidden issues or rust. I wanted to make sure i have solid base to suit my exact requirements. Also, building the frame (if you can weld) was fun and it wasn't as hard.
@@ChilledBeans yeah sorry, watched the video again shortly after my comment and got my answer. I cannot weld, but I have seen some places selling custom trailer bases around the $1500 mark so might go down that route.
@@tazanelli yes, if you don't weld, then it's a no brainer... buying an existing base would be the simplest and most effective option. WHen you chose a base frame, consider where you would place the water tank... base frame clearance from the ground... size of A frame if you want to put tool box etc.
It is very cool for people with the skill and tools. First DIY that does not look like a headache to use.
for real
I just want to say thank you as well. I am going to build a camper like yours 2 weeks from now and will incorporate your tips.
Very helpful. Thank you.
What a beautiful well thought out camper. Congrats. I hope you are enjoying it.
good warning. Were your rails at all loose in the seat clamp?
That's a great question. They were very firm, definitelly not loose. The rails remained locked in, which is why i got cut up by the sharp plastic only. Otherwise if they were loose there would be more rough metal exposed, or i could have got impaled by the post. I was really lucky that it didn't get my arteries either, so I could get back to the car and hospital without bleeding to death. Stay safe.
Lol searched for the exact description of the video after bringing the hairdryer in to my bed for the first time lol it works! Great minds…
high five.... Awesome. Love it.
😂❤🎉
Great tips
The explanation you provided as you progressed took me from not knowing anything about how the brakes on my trailer worked to now having a good understanding. My first job for today is to relubricate and adjust the brakes on my Chinese trailer so they work (Something they have never done since the day I purchased it.
Perfect video mate exactly what I needed

I can't believe that comes in under 750kg. All that heavy gauge steel, layers of thick plywood, 60kg of water, ... They are often built with much lighter steel frame and composite foam/polycarbonate panels to get in under that weight and have enough left over for all your camping kit.
You are right. I'm pretty sure i mentioned somewhere, at least in another video, and many comment responses that the tare weight is 920 kg.
You are not a DIY builder. You are a professional builder without a company. Fantastic.
Thank you so much.
thank you for this tutorial will definetly have to givbe it a try
Brilliant video
What kind of welding did you do for the frame ?
Arc - Stick welding.
Very nice. Good job. It would be nice if you could put the links in the description of the parts and where did you purchase it, or the specks so we can find them in the US. Thanks for sharing
Thanks. All the product links are in the video description.
Loved the video. I have an electric brake controller on my Ute so I’ll be utilising electric brakes on my trailer when I can get it done
Thinking about using aluminum for mine. With the option of bolting it all together. Do you think that would work or do you know anyone who’s used aluminum for these ??
I have not come across anything like that. I've seen people build camper trailers using aluinium, but welding it. But not bike rack. Bike racks need to carry load (quite precious cargo), so my gut feel is that bolting alluminium doesn't sound quite as reliable to me. I haven't even seen any commercial alluminium bike racks... all the heavy duty ones I see around are steel. I would suggest to approach some sort of fabrication engineer for advice on this. Good luck
Only one window? It looks heavy. What’s the weight?
Yes because there is the door on the other side. I never really felt like I need an extra window. But it is slightly heavy... 920kg, very strong but a bit heavier than if i used composite panels.
Just came across this video. Nice build, did a great job. I'm curious what the final weight was. Do you know that?
Thanks. 920kg tare
The movement of the wheel is a common issue with leaf springs. Another is left-right loading imbalance, which causes excessive left-right tilt in the trailer, causing the inner tops of the wheels on the heavy side to tilt in towards the the trailer frame. The rear door on these less tall campers can be improved by creating an L shaped (viewed from the side) rear door and hinging from the top side of the camper (just under your rear roof rack). It is more complicated but gives you a lot more head room. Keep up the good work.
Mate, brilliant build and turned out awesome. A few questions and thoughts: 1. Why did you choose a wooden frame for the cabin vs say using RHS or square steel tube? I am debating this point right now and interested in your views and experience. 2. Double ply walls - understand you needed the structural integrity, but did you consider a laminated or hollow core approach using thinner ply on the outer (8-12mm), then borders/bracing for the insulation layer, then another thinner play or faced laminate on the inner layer? Not saying you did it wrong, but I saw a lot of wastage and effort in cutting out your inner ply. 3. Did you consider the aluminium composite sheeting rather than plywood for the walls? 4. I love the shelfing layout - I will likely steal your ideas :) 5. How did you get front - rear balance? This has to be one of the best camper build videos out there, really good you focussed on how you built it and not showing off what you built.
Amazing build and info. I'd like to do something similar and live in Vic , this is so relevant to me. I have an old 1970 coleman poptop I'm thinking of converting as it's not enjoyable setting up and packing down. You've given me a lot of inspiration. Thank you!
Great Job...........But on a safety note never use an angle grinder without a guard ......Discs can explode at any time and pierce your body.
You are absolutelly right.
Very honest video, i have built a camp trailer, im going to build a tear drop trailer next ( should have in the first place ). little mistakes you have made, believe me, i understand. r and d the professionals spend a lot of money on, where the home builders go suck it and see.
Wow, I have a Pedego e-bike and a Nissan Sentra. I was looking at a teardrop trailer and saw that I would need a solution for my bike. This is very nice. I would have thought the same.
That's awesome. It works really well.
Where do I get these panels at in the United States?
What are the dimensions of your trailer? I was going to build a square drop trailer like yours but 5' wide x 10' long x 4' high! I am going to use a Timbren suspension.
I'm going on same direction
Looks very cool.
Excellent job ❤
Hey mate what’s the total weight? Cheers
Hi. It's 920kg tare
You are going to set your blanket on fire.
what profiles and sealing did you use for your back door?
Have a look at my channel, I posted another video explaining all details for the rear hatch door.
Excellent work, thanks for sharing, greetings from Mexico
Fantastic share as always. So excited for by build based on your ideas. You are top shelf. Much respect 🙏
Thanks so much.
Your weight is wrong it will be a pig to tow, you need all the weight up front not at the rear
Hi. I agree, the trailer needs to have more weight up front. Why do you think the weight is wrong on this trailer though? My current setup makes the trailer heaver at the front (even when fully loaded). I can't remember exactly, but the tow ball weight is at least 80 kg.
Hey mate, very helpful video, thank you! Helped me build my first breaker trailer. Small issue tho…the leaver as well as it’s entire assembly moves when I pull on it, causing the shoes to scape once it’s realised. It only moves by a few mm but enough to throw the shoes off centre. Is it supposed to be fully fixed with only the leaver moving or some movement is ok? Thanks!
Thanks for the helpful video. Where did you get the coupling from?
The silver coupling with the internal spring trigger came with the brake kit, purchased from a local trailer shop. But i've seen these kits online too (ebay)
So appreciate you. I'm still planning my build after so much research. But I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for the great video. Top shelf build share.
You are a god! I've been slowly designing my trailer over the last 4 months. I have a similar design planned with some few changes for my needs. I'm buying a Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness this year that has a tow weight of 3200 max. What's the dry weight of your design? Awesome dude!!! Thank you so much for making this video.
Thank you my friend. I wouldn't go as far as "god" but thank you :) Tare weight is 920 kg. A bit on the heavy side if you compare to some small DIYs, but it's very strong. That being said, I've seen at caravan show professional square drops much heavier than that. So not too bad.
@@ChilledBeans well played. I’ve watched a ton of videos. I’m in the US so pounds over kg. But you gave me the platform I want to build in. In actually diving back into my CAD software and start tweaking. Thank you.
@@ChilledBeans random question. Why did do the slanted bottom in the back instead of maximizing storage space. By being more box at the bottom. Was that a gas mileage choice? Thanks for your time. Really appreciate
@@pringlizedit was primarily an aesthetic choice. To balance (visually) that angle at the top front. But yes, it would also reduce weight a little. Especially if you put angle at the front, if i didn't do it at the back to compensate, i would have more weight at the back of the trailer... and you never want to have more weight at the back of trailer as it would compromise trailer balance and stability on the road. If you do just build full box at the back, you have to make sure you position the wheels/axle so there is always more weight at the front.
@@ChilledBeans Thank you. I was planning on a Dometic pull out in the galley, but I can always move that to the tongue. Thanks for all your help and advice. I'm excited to start getting my supplies. You rock dude!
15:39 where did you get the numberplate surround…. Is it an online job or from a store. I am in oz.
It's DIY job. Two layers of marine plywood glued together, the top layer routed out. Then painted. 😊
