Why can't we get a price on the machine?
Damn these are so nice.
First of all, congrats on this machine, I think it’s amazing and is definitely top on my wish list. Outstanding design and really impressive build quality. Which roaster do you personally prefer? Electric or gas? Also, can you detail your preference? Thanks!
Thanks, Herban. My personal preference is the electric roaster. The setup is simpler and the roast quality is better. Now that we have the Ultradurable U-shaped IR tubes the roaster can be used for commercial roasting. I'm currently negotiating with the tube manufacturer to produce 1200-watt tubes that will bring the roaster power (2400 watts) to the same level as the gas roaster. These tubes will have the same durability as the current 900-watt tubes.
@@cormorantcoffeeroaster1199sounds great 👍 Given that you have provided older electric model users a way to upgrade to the new ultra durable tubes, another question pops up. If and when you are able to source the new UD 1200W, will curent users of the electric be able to upgrade to the new tubes if needed?
Yes, for sure. The tubes will be available for upgrades and allow us to offer an electric roaster setup of 1800 watts, 2100 watts, or 2400 watts. @@herban7533
Awesome!
It can be shipping to Indonesia?
Yes, we have roasters in Indonesia, customers roasting small batches commercially.
2000w very nice
Hopefully, you can go to Help / Load Settings in the Artisan menu and it will bring up your original .aset file. Click on it and you should be back where you were before the mishap with the imported profile. Hope this helps.
Wonderfull❤
👍
What was your damper position for this roast?
Hi, the damper was in the open position for this roast.

Wow, absolutely love your work here, amazing and defo the best roaster I have seen.
Congrats Johan. Based on your use of this electric roaster, how quickly do the IR tubes respond compared with gas power? Do you feel you are getting increases or decreases in heat delivered fairly immediately, or is there a delay compared with gas? In the IR tube test video, it seems like you are getting very quick response.
Hi Philip, the IR Tubes respond instantly to power changes, but as there is no combustion (propane) the thermal effect is slightly slower to translate to the beans heating up. Not by much . I find this handy towards the end of the roast to prevent ROR drop.
Wow where can I buy this machine. Nice design.
Hi, you can email us for more details. johan@cormorantroasters.co.uk
Thanks Johan. Really helpful stuff.
Awesome video Johan. Looks to be a medium roast? Any chance you could do another video completing a light roast and how you would tackle this?
For sure, on the to-do list for next week.
@@cormorantcoffeeroaster1199 That's great, really appreciated :)
Very helpful video! Just finished my first roast on mine! So simple and easy but I can tell it gives me the flexibility I’m looking for! Love it, great work Johan!
Congrats on the 1st electric roast on the Cormorant; a great step forward!
Thanks, Harry it's a work in progress but I'm really happy with the results. This electric roaster is so easy to set up and start roasting. ☺
what app are you using for testing?
We use Artisan software.
Exciting development... never fancied a gas cannister in my kitchen! Any hints on price and when it will be available?
Hi Phil, The CR600e is available from January 2023, we are currently taking orders for Feb/March deliveries. The price will be the same as the Gas roaster for the first 50 units. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions, please email us on johan@cormorantroasters.co.uk
I’m afraid I really couldn’t follow that airflow description!
What a superb looking piece of kit!
Price? Where can i buy?
Hi, contract us at johan@cormorantroasters.co.uk. First 50 units discounted
Are the 50 units spoken for?
Hey Johan , do you have a Price for this now , i Can send a mail to you , 👍thanks Rene

worth following this development; looks promising!
Thanks, hope to release a few videos soon of us roasting on the electric CR600. I have been roasting on it since December 2021. The tubes in this video is the 120V for the USA.
Awesome song ,didnt know this danish band . Looking forward to hear more about the Electric fire , awesome roaster , and now Electric 👍Johan 👍
Electric like in "electrically heated"? Interesting. I love my original CR600, gas consumption is spectacularly low. I am approaching my 100th batch, and I am still on the first 5kg gas bottle.
Hi, yes the electric roaster use infrared tubes that gives off instant heat, up to 2000 watt available to roast with. At 1500 watt you can compare this to 30mbar on the gas roaster.
so this will be in place of the gas heating? interesting..hoping this is available as an option for us to retro install..
Both gas and electric will be available. The roaster top it compatible with both base units, gas and electric.
@@cormorantcoffeeroaster1199 can u retrofit electic into a gas roaster?
@@ES-bw5rm Hi, the electric base can be purchased seperately and the top is designed to fit both the gas base and the electric base.
@@cormorantcoffeeroaster1199 that’s what I have been looking for! Genius
Hi Johan , Can you share a link to buy the gas controller 👍
By gas controller do you meen the propane regulator? www.gasproducts.co.uk/reca-912-0-5-2-bar-high-pressure-propane-gas-regulator-with-gauge.html www.gasproducts.co.uk/reca-912-0-5-2-bar-high-pressure-propane-gas-regulator-with-gauge.html?currency=GBP&gclid=CjwKCAjw-rOaBhA9EiwAUkLV4uNZzUeNiFSHMDkRfdCQIJChriDUE1tDoC3ui19O8vprUDBDNMvUMxoCFawQAvD_BwE
A great little roaster. Spectacularly low gas consumption. I am beyond 80 batches and still on the first 5kg gas bottle. Very good control, easy to clean and great support by Johan. Well designed, compact, but still a great resemblance of a larger drum roaster.
Fantastic video! I cannot wait to get my roaster. Would the SC1 spray be used on roasters that have been powdered-coated, as well?
Hi Bryce, Yes it's a great product for the powder coated roasters too.
Excellent video and, more importantly, excellent roaster! I came from a behmor and gene cafe. This has been a wonderful upgrade that has challenged me to learn more about the craft (and, in turn, benefit from the results).
How much that's roaster

After viewing this video, you can really see how this is a top-quality roaster.
interesting. i wonder how viable it is to do inbetween settings as well throughout the roast? how would that affect the roast? like maybe doing 1/4 increments instead of going fully closed to fully opened and how repeatable those inbetweens are.
For sure you can, I use it a lot on half and on 3/4. You can see the effect in artisan during warmup using the ROR BT line. Closing it in increments to see the effect it will have during roasting. Interesting observation, ☺
Can you make a video about initial setup and gas connection?
what components inside the controller?
Hi, The controller is a needle gas valve with auto ignition and safety thermocouple cutout. Hope this helps.
@@cormorantcoffeeroaster1199 like solenoid safety valve, any brands recommend or you can show me what is inside in other video
@@aifrisyad7491 Yes, like solenoid valve. Our valve is made for us specifically..
@@cormorantcoffeeroaster1199 thank you so much
How many btu is the burner?
Hi, the burner is +- 1500 watt at 37 mbar and +-2000 watt at 50 mbar. You can convert this to btu / h / min.
Hi Johan, at the beginning you said the diffuser was closed. so just to be clear it was open and then you closed it yeah?
Hi Travis, yes, that's correct. To make things a bit more complicated, the affect change slightly when the gas is at High (25-35 mbar) of low (below 15 mbar). The amount of air drawn also effect the result.
I see that you’re roasting using only the analog controls which appeals to me, so how much difference would you see if you were doing a programmed roast with a laptop? It’s a lovely looking roaster!
Hi Bill, thanks very much, this is a super overview! Some experience from my CR600: depending on the beans I go for a limited soak (eg. 17/18 mb for the first minute) to apply heat cautiously and give the beans time to absorb heat. I compensate for the soak by somewhat higher drop temps (190-198 degree C). After the soak I double gas settings to 34/36 mbar, very rarely beyond that. Then 4-5 gas steps down until drop. For me even smaller than 5 mb gas is consistently achievable. For very stubborn crashers I use the Scott Rao gas dip - works OK. First crack happens in my set-up very consistently for most types of beans around 185-190 degrees C. For a light roast of Arabicas drop temp is at 200 - 204 C, medium around 204-210 C, anything beyond starts to lean into dark. Robusta is way higher ... up to 220-230 and in general needs more heat (I do not do a lot of Robusta ...). I am traditionally on the light-medium side of roasts, never get into 2nd crack.
Hi Chris, thanks. Yes Ill like to make a video for initial setup and gas connection.
Great video showing the basics of green beans roasting on the Cormorant Roaster. I have just placed my order for one as it really seems a fantastic start to enjoy the control over the process. So far I have been using a 1970s 1500W West Bend Poppery popcorn popper which still is a good and cheap way to roast coffee. What I have been missing is consistency... although my roasts are very good, I struggle to get the hardness of beans down a bit and to keep at it on a profiled level.
By far the best priced quality roaster at this capacity. Shame on the USA manufactures, building bulky machines and not offering a quality 1lb+ roaster like this one.

Hello Johan, I noticed on your videos and also on a few others that when you turn the roaster on, the mb guage goes all the way to max. On mine, it maxes out at about 31 mb. Is this something I should be concerned about? I have about 45 roasts on it since I got in in March, and I absolutely love it! No issues whatsoever with it. Thanks!
HI Brad, good to hear from you. The 31 mbar is normal on the roastes we built the 37mbar regulator in. What size first stage regulator do you have on the propane cylinder? I don't use the power above 30 mbar as it is to do a roast. Let me know, cheers, Johan
Thank you! Keep these coming, they are very helpful.
Great video guys
I love this machin . but....😔
The roaster appears to have changed a lot since I bought mine 5 or 6 years ago. Is this pretty much the final design?
HI John, it's good to hear from you. Yes, this is it. We added a USB port into the back of the base part with the latest version. This is for easy connection to the Phidget artisan hardware. We are not planning any design changes from here on. Cheers, Johan
