Heaven in her arms is probably the best or at least my favorite converge song. I think this is one of those bands that when they put out a record, its record of the year, easily. They innovate still. I don't think there are many that can compete with them. All we love we leave behind is probably there best next to this. Check out: DIllinger escape plan-Calculating Infinity Gaza-I dont care where i go when i die Deadguy-Literally anything Every time i die-Hot Damn Poison the well-Opposite of december.
omg yes! it would be so cool to see you get into more noisy metal stuff! kind of a basic suggestion, but Unsilent Death by Nails is a grindcore album that really helped me get into the sound (& it's only 14 minutes long!). a more personal pick is Caligula by Lingua Ignota, which isn't metal, but incorporates a lot of the abrasive style & i just think you'd love it in general
the struggle to find ppl who will listen to noisier stuff is real. I gave a listen to your EP from earlier this year, really liked it! Has a fuzz and grit to it that feels authentic and was weirdly immersive, especially with the extra context you wrote on the band camp page. feels inseparably American, if that even makes any sense - the harsh tones and vocals were great too. support queer noise!
This album is absolutely incredible. I remember being in like freshman year being really really intimidated by this record coming from someone who was really into sludge/stoner and melodic metalcore. a friend of mine gave me the cd for this record along with You Fail Me and I listened to them both after school and was absolutely floored. opened up so many doors as far as musical interest and personal growth playing the guitar. thank you kurt ballou for basically being my guitar teacher since then
Finally some Converge reactions on TH-cam. They aren’t talked about enough considering how legendary and influential they are. Glad to see someone young liking them especially just after hearing Concubine. This album is a phenomenal experience, it was fun experiencing it with you. Metalcore for the most part definitely stopped being good, minus the handful of old bands still doing their thing, in the late 2000s imo. Though there is a nice resurgence of bands like Knocked Loose continuing that old sound. Another legendary album to check out would be Botch - We Are The Romans or Misery Signals - Malice and the Magnum Heart.
I don't think I have heard the band botch in 10 years (rough guess). Converge, Gaza, snake charmers, circle takes the square, Pg 99. Have you ever listened to damaged - do not spit? Super underrated aussie band from the 90s
If I was you I would be very careful. I got into this album earlier this year and I’m now at a point where I think that this might be the best metal album I’ve ever heard. This and Dopethrone are possibly the 2 heaviest metal albums of all time imo. Edit: oh yeah btw the songs you never woulda thought to be your favorite will eventually become your favorite to the point each song is like perfect.
My favorite album of all time. Opened up a lot of doors when it came to enjoying music. It showed me that heavy music could be emotional and chaotic. Thanks for posting this, it's so awesome to watch someone experience this for the first time. It's reactions like these that make sharing music so fun.
Hell To Pay might just be the best production on any metalcore song I've ever heard in my life, that growling bass is fucking FILTHY and the way it leads into Homewrecker is perfect. This album is fantastic and I love it to death, please react to more Converge they are the most consistent metalcore band in terms of quality
This entire band is so freaking talented. Jacob bannon is probably my favourite hardcore vocalist of all time, and Ben Koller is an absolute machine of a drummer, too.
Man since you are stepping those territories while getting deeper into the Swans work, you'll definitely LOVE and get amazed by Neurosis and Amenra. If you are interested, start with "Mass VI" from Amenra and Neurosis... hard to decide between "Souls at Zero" and "Through Silver in Blood". You'll love and feel more and more dragged into this world that Converge and Swans opened to you
Disembodied walked so K//L could run. They even ripped off a Disembodied breakdown for the song Deadringer. Listen to their ep "If God Only Knew The Rest Were Dead".
One of the greatest records ever made. It's the gift that keeps on giving. I hope you deep dived all their records (the band describes Jane Doe as the rebirth of the band). 'All We Love We Leave Behind' and 'Axe To Fall' are incredible.
Absolutely crazy that some people compared Jane Doe with the new KL album. There's almost nothing that can be compared lol Anyway, first person in youtube reacting to this amazing album. Apreciate it. edit: also you SHOULD listen to we are the romans asap
If you like this, there's an old school metalcore revival going on. Check out Vein fm - Errorzone(closest to converge) Balmora & Since My Beloved - Six Pacts Etched in Blood Withpaperwings - Demo Adrienne - Summers Beginning
Glad to see a solid genuine reaction to this album. It’s considered a masterpiece for good reason. I recommend the Disharmonium albums from Blut Aus Nord for more mind boggling metal.
Converge are so damn underrated. They’ve been around for nearly 3 decades, and have consistently put out 5 star albums. They’ve influenced countless bands in the metalcore scene, and most of all, they continue to expand and evolve their sound with every new release. Highly recommend checking out their other albums. You Fail Me, Axe To Fall, and The Dusk In Us. Also if you liked Converge, definitely check out other Mathcore legends such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Botch.
Great reaction! I knew it was a great album when it came out but I never knew it would still mean something to me 20+ years later. Axe To Fall is another great one to me. The albums between Jane and axe are all very good to me but none of them really hit me like Jane and Axe.
I'm excited for this. This old man doesn't hear 00s fucking hardcore nearly enough. Broken vow is properly fun. I had a lot of fun with this man, good job!
Converge is out of all leagues and maybe even genres band, delivering every time heaviest, most progressive and original stuff since day one...for me literally no bad song in +10 albums...also self recording/producing most of the stuff, doing artwork, having label, and being involved in many other bands for me makes them key figures of extreme/HC music for decades now
For all the Metal I have indulged, all the heaviest, the classic, the most methodical, favorable. Nothing has beaten what I felt from Jane Doe from my first listen, it is such an amazing album from back to back to back… If you really love this style and want more of an experience you should check out Zao’s The Crimson Corridor. I think you’ll love a lot of whats going on in that album too.
this album fucks so hard. finally decided to listen a few days ago after having it on my radar for way too long and i've had it on repeat. my first reaction was pretty similar to yours, just in complete awe of how amazing it was. simply incredible metal. would absolutely recommend you give "Unsilent Death" by Nails a shot.
The entire Dillinger escape plan discography is absolutely worth checking out! I would go ahead and do them in order of release it’s some of the best music made.
Love the channel, great picks and what seems like genuine first listen/reactions. When i first heard this album I couldn't hack it, I was a similar age to you when it came out. It took me a while to get into it fully but now It's one of my favourite heavy albums of all time. Alongside Botch - We are the romans, the first Dillinger album and a few others. I'd be super interested to see you react to Loveless by My bloody valentine or Six by Mansun.
Find the video with the stage invasion/fight. It's fucking hardcore dude. Lead vocalist attacks with mic stand, a guitar is used as a weapon. Nutty stuff.
also no need to react to it, but if you like this i think you'd like the album No Absolutes In Human Suffering by Gaza. A lot darker, somehow even heavier, maybe the heaviest record in the genre of metalcore imo, not quite as frenetic but more dissonant. one of the like two metalcore albums i would ever argue on par to Jane Doe, the other being We Are The Romans by Botch you'd also probably fuck with the album Prayer For Terrene by Idylls not quite on the same level across the entire record but the opening track maybe puts everything i just listed to shame, including most of Jane Doe, sounds like if Swans made metalcore
Hey! I love this album more thab I love myself haha Let me recommend you the album Ataxico by Joliette, they're a mexican mathcore band, doesn't matter if you upload a reaction or if you just listen to it by yourself, I think you would like it :)
First time Jane Doe listeners thinking "this is the best opener ever" not knowing what's going to hit them with the closer
Not only a Metalcore album, is THE Metalcore album
I'm approaching 50 and it makes me happy to see younger people getting into one of my favourite albums.
I think you would absolutely love the Dillinger escape plan: ire works. If you haven’t heard it already.
Yeah Dillinger and Coalesce. And Botch if you wanna fuck around.
@@Beluga_Too Tony Danza and Frontierer if you like to _really_ fuck around

Dude that’s what I’m saying, I know they’re not an easy band to get into but dang I wish we saw more people checking them out

Next logical step would be We Are The Romans by Botch, that and Jane Doe are the 2 landmarks of mathcore
Add Calculating Infinity by The Dillinger Escape Plan to that list too!
I would also suggest Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child by Norma Jean
Can’t forget Calculating Infinity by Dillinger either!
The Bizkit walked so Knocked Loose could run.
This is so true
Disembodied walked so K//L could run. They even ripped off a Disembodied breakdown for the song Deadringer. Listen to their ep "If God Only Knew The Rest Were Dead".
Stoked for this!!! You gotta do their other masterpieces - Axe To Fall & All We Love We Leave Behind - at some point
surely you mean You Fail Me next?
@@mynameismark25 works for me too! I prefer the two I mentioned, but You Fail Me is also fantastic
A bit of a specific one, but I would LOVE to see him check out their stuff on the poacher diaries. Specifically the redux version.
Welcome to the Converge cult!
holy shit my favorite album ever! you also should listen to dillinger escape plan if you like this

Totally agree.
This comparison sounds like a joke.
There's almost nothing? I wouldn't say that at all.
Kurt Ballou has done college lectures on his production of this album. lol
the breakdown at the end of Heaven in her arms is my favorite moment in all of metal and music

I swear I’ve come back to rewatch this reaction just to also remind myself of the first time I listened to this album man.

Thank you for keeping converge in the loop. I dont think most people understand how influential they were and still are too modern metal
this album got me into metal/hardcore
Hands down the best metalcore (if you can even call it that!) album EVER recorded. Utterly timeless.
The new Umbra Vitae (same vocalist as Converge plus members of The Red Chord and Hatebreed) rips and is worth a listen if you like this.
One of the best reactions to this album that I have ever seen! This album is a fucking classic!
I clicked so God damn fast. One of my all-time favorite albums.
one of my favorite albums ever, reaction was on point. so fucking heavy
Great reaction! I knew it was a great album when it came out but I never knew it would still mean something to me 20+ years later.
Axe To Fall is another great one to me. The albums between Jane and axe are all very good to me but none of them really hit me like Jane and Axe.
Your channel has introduced me to some of the best music including swans and slint and now this thank you!
YES my favorite metal album ever. I was surprised to see this pop up tbh!
Let’s fucking got this album is absolutely STUNNING
Hearing Hell to Pay live in insane. They’re always so right live and somehow keep coming with great albums.

until your heart stops - cave in
Also, you gotta do a Blood Brothers album at some point. Some of the best post-hardcore ever, and some of the best screams ever.

You'll definitely love Chamber, basically one of the successors to this type of sound
so glad you checked this out !! easily one of the best to ever do it
Thaw is my favourite Converge song, period!!!
Every Time I Die is just converge with a different sounding singer and ill die on that hill. Every time.
Homewrecker was always my favorite.
You should try CAVE IN’s album UNTIL YOUR HEART STOPS!!!!!
You HAVE to listen to All We Love We Leave Behind by Converge. Such a good album!
Jabob's vocals on this album are insane. Homewrecker is the best.
The title track is THE BEST song of all time and no one could tell me otherwise
Find the video with the stage invasion/fight.
It's fucking hardcore dude. Lead vocalist attacks with mic stand, a guitar is used as a weapon. Nutty stuff.
Best album ever made
I have faith in the new generation and this should be their leader 😂
one of my favs ever ❤

Let me recommend you the album Ataxico by Joliette, they're a mexican mathcore band, doesn't matter if you upload a reaction or if you just listen to it by yourself, I think you would like it :)
Their next album You Fail Me is even better imo
If youre down for mathcore I cant recommend Carbomb enough. W'w''w'w is my favorite album of theirs but Meta has awesome production.
Check Out Botch and Burnt by the sun .
Great Video !
Knocked Loose has absolutely nothing on Converge
Also here to rec again Choirs Of The Eye by Kayo Dot, one of the best metal records ever written
Im sorry but nothing compares to Jane Doe. Knocked Loose is really good but Jane Doe is QUEEN!!!!
do you like burzum or emperor or people like that? Blackgaze or doomgaze stuff is worth checking out. Planning for Burial is right up your street

Hey man I recommend the album the changing of time by underoath if you haven't heard it you may like💪
everyone here in the comment section should go and react without a camera to The Lurch by Yautja.
Next logical step would be We Are The Romans by Botch, that and Jane Doe are the landmarks of mathcore
Yessss if you're into this, PLEASE check out Botch!
Botch. Frequency Ass Bandit. Everything else. Yup
And Miss Machine to, dillinger redefined the Mathcore there
