- For some reason Captain Howzer seems to be immune to the effects of Inhibitor Chips, as do other clones on Ryloth. Perhaps it is because they did not take part in Order 66? Or are the chips simply deteriorating in all the clones? We're bound to get some answers in the upcoming episodes of series!

It’s likely Howzer and a few other clones, who agreed with him, are from the same batch. And like in every mass production, the whole batch can be defective, so all their chips are malfunctioning.

Actually Order 66 was against the Jedi so I think that the chips are fully operational, it's just that some clones are more ethical than others

God I hope the Kaminoans Uprising gets recanonised, even if it takes place earlier than what it usually did in Legends it’s such an important moment in the transition from the Republic to the Empire that there’s just a big hole of its left out, it’s the perfect way for the Empire to finally fully decide to cancel clone production and move on to enlisting regular people throughout the galaxy. The seeds are there with the Kaminoans beginning to worry about the Empire, I just hope it comes to fruition.

In terms of personality Howzer feels like a mixture of Rex and Fives
Similar to when Fives gave a speech when he and Jesse were about to be executed in Umbara. Their speeches were alike, about being independent and free thinking men. Not unthinking droids that would blindly follow wrong orders.

I hate Crosshair so much, which makes him a great villain.
Howzer is a good man. So are the rank and file who chose to join him rather than obey orders.

@@denizkuruagac9133 even if it wasn't, there is *no* way the other regs would have avoided it. They would have shot him if that was the case. The inhibitor chips are powerful, but the effects seem to not last forever. Crosshair has had his chip amped twice now. Why bother with that if one amp would do the job? The only reason I can think of is that the chip's programming wears off if not for boosters at regular intervals.
@Oddwolf 799 Possibly. I do remember a comic where rogue Jedis turned the tables on some inquisitors by giving them that infamous command.
Although, those clones could have been a later batch that were instated after the purge was considered complete.
In this particular scenario however, there were no Jedis around anyway so none of this conjecture really means anything.

they wouldn’t have had him arrested if they didn’t plan on using him again, most likely he will appear later on.
He’s hero who created distract to helped Clone Force 99 and Hera’s parents managed to escape safety by show up himself to confront the clone troopers and crosshair and start his speech before arrested.
There was no jedi on ryloth so order 66 wasn't executed there, at least that's my theory on this.

I think the chips are a 1 time thing, they only last long enough for the clone to kill the jedi and establish the empire

I don't know what the title "Infested" is about but my prediction is that next episode Crosshair will catch up with the Batch with his squad but he doesn't kill them (maybe his chip is starting to wear off since the burn is right there in the same spot, and that makes him a bit more soft? or some other reason?) and instead the Batch & Omega are brought to Kamino. Howzer and the other clones who seem to be capable of independent thinking are also brought to Kamino for testing. Then we have an Episode on Kamino which the title "War Mantle" seems to suggest. That will set up the clone/kaminoan rebellion and the finale which I think will be a two-parter (episodes 15 & 16) and I'm guessing we'll see Rex again too. There were also Ahsoka rumours so IF she shows up it has to be with Rex otherwise it doesn't make much sense to me, but I don't think she will show up. I'm thinking they both show up in the finale if they do.

I thought Howzer was gonna get John Marston’ed walking out those doors towards those clones. Was not expecting THAT though.
Now it all makes sense now I know how the empire replaced the clones howzer is indeed unique but in the end his actions are only speeding the empires decision to replace the clones sooner than expected
I don't think Howzer is unique, I think this is how they will go about explaining why there were no clones in ANH and nearly all of them were decommissioned. Seems to me like the inhibitor chips will wear off. Makes you wonder, would the Empire be able to control something like that? Countless seasoned, elite soldiers with PTSD, angry.
@@LoreFreak Did Vader still use clones in the opening of ANH as well as the battle of Hoth. I thought his personal unit of the 501st were majority clones.
@@SocalCoyote They were majority clones according to the info we got in SW: Battlefront 2 from the mid 2000's... That game is however no longer canon. And nothing else (as far as I have been able to tell at least) seem to indicate that Vader used clones in ANH or on Hoth.
The only clone we know who fought during the OT was Rex, because we know he was on Endor, as that has been confirmed.

Wow, every time I've seen the clones after order 66, they just....followed orders. After seeing some of those clones lay down their weapons, I'm in complete shock. It seems some of the clones still have their conscience intact.

I was convinced Howzer and the other clones were gonna die. Glad they weren’t. I started smiling when those clones lowered their weapons and joined him. Those are the clones I know and love
Makes me question my hate for these "mindless clones" since 66 I hated clones for what they did but now I have hope that not all are bad

Next episode
Possibly just a hint of it starting. The battle of Kamino began with the Empire using phase 3 (storm trooper) armor and a full grown Boba Fett leading the assault. The Kaminoans still need time to grow and train their new batch of loyal clones

Really, I was totally scared when howzer stood in front of the clones and began to speak. I was sure Crosshair would shoot him. And if not him, then which of the clones. Ahh, I hope he won't die, because I totally fell in love with him

I believe the chips in the older generation of clones is starting to deteriorate. It would explain wolf and Gregor in star wars rebels because they were both older generation clones.

Except for the fact you can clearly see scars on both Wolffe’s and Gregor’s heads where the chips were removed.

Omega did point out to rex being an older clone. And no i don't think that was a crack at him just being old. Filoni is to meticulous in his dialogue!
Older ones would have the experience needed to know the difference between the Empire and the Republic, The ones who are literally standing like superman are probably the vets, while the shinies were the ones who stayed loyal. Experience outranks everything.
Hopefully Rex can save him and his men.

@@ivoryrosett1980 the chips affect their brains, however they are not a natural organ, not a connected part of the brain, and so ethier a resistance can be built up to it, the chip will cause an infection, or the mind will fall under its control. Either way after a year or two of being activated a human brain will develop a resistance to the signals being admitted from the chip, or the brain will be infected from the unnatural signals from the chip and a tumor will form.

This made me shed a tear when i say this FOR THE REPUBLIC. 😔
What I liked about this scene was showing the divide between the clones and how there were those who remained loyal to the Empire. They could've easily gone with the cliche 'everybody joins' moment, but instead, they showed differing opinions and loyalties: those loyal to Howzer and those still loyal to the Empire. It's a minor detail but one that I appreciate
When I heard that a platoon of Russian soldiers surrendered to Ukraine when they learned the truth about their invasion, it made me think of Captain Howzer.

So this is how it starts, I bet we’re going to see clones form the backbone of the rebellion and help it grow. We already know that Rex was at Endor, it would help explain why they were so hard to stamp out besides just plot armor
Can't imagine this will be the last we see of Howser. This might just be the new Rex impact wise. Until he meets Rex obviously.

The scene where all the clones ditched their shields made me drop of tear of happiness lol
It broke my heart seeing him talk to his fellow brothers not knowing there being controlled by biochips.
Because no one else pointed it out:
When he stood at the cell earlier the clone theme played, but then stopped
When he was about to face his squad, the clone theme finished.

Something I love about this scene is the posture of the clones when they throw down their weapons. They, each and every one of them, look *proud* because they know what they're doing now is right. Stand tall, brothers.
The question is, if this is how clones came to be decommissioned, how does the empire "decommission" a veteran army that size?
PS Captain Howzer has immediately jumped to one of my favourite clones, awesome armour, hair & scars.

They just stop producing clones and the accelerated aging gets rid of them

Yeah, Inhibitor Chips lose their duration after a time, so now Imagine what all the Clones who murdered their Jedi Generals now that they get to reflect on their actions.
Not only is he a true leader but hand that’s the freshest cut a clones had.
3/4 of the clones would have defected if they didn’t have the chips, the ones that did most likely had chips that deteriorated faster

So this is setting up why the Empire switched to Stormtroopers. This kind of stuff is solidifying that the clones can't be trusted. I love what Filoni is doing with the clones.

This was a really great scene. Good to know there's still some good left in the clones. I guess Order 66, being only for Jedi, made them more compliant. With a few exceptions. Also, who else wants a Rex and Howser team-up?
It could be possible considering that it is being hinted to that Rex himself is trying to establish something to fight the Empire or at the least establish a means by which to find an old base or two so that they could start dechipping more clones. Who knows, maybe we’ll see our new favorite clone and his brothers who joined him join Rex and his efforts.

The classic trumpet theme when Howzer was opening the door made it even better for me
I know Bad Batch is a „Kids Show“, but I think this scene would be better, if every clone shot Howzer after his speech. It would show, how powerful Order 66 is. But it‘s like the Episode 9 Chewbacca Scene, I don‘t want Howzer to die 😂

Most deff not a kids show, kids are just allowed to watch it. Rebels is for sure, you can tell by the difference in animation. But i can give it a tiny bit of respect by getting a bit darker at the end.

You missed out on using a flashback of Clones disobeying Five’s execution on Umbara for Clones following Howzer’s speech in laying down their weapons

The way Howzer stood up to the Empire and inspired other clones to stand with him reminded me of what Rex said. They’re not droids, they’re not programmed, they’re men who make their own decisions, and stood for whatever was left of the Republic they swore to defend. They’re good men

Respect to Captain Howzer.
I get the feeling the reason why Howzer and some of the other clones were able to disobey because Order 66 labelled Jedi and anyone who aided them as treasonous traitors. Howzer and the other men fought alongside Syndulla, not Jedi. Their minds may have been able to find a loophole in the order since 66 didn't apply to the citizens of Ryloth.

You know there's something strange about howzer that didn't seem neutral. Which kind of explains why he didn't change his armor. It's like did he remove his inhibitor chip or is he just a glitch. He should run for his life to join the bad batch or just simply wrecks because sooner or later it's probably going to be based on how they create this rebellion. Because the clones are the ones who created it when they realized their mistakes.
IMO three options for Howzer: he dies soon - or joins the Bad Batch. Maybe he will also join the clone rebellion (pretty sure that will happen at the end of Bad Batch).
The first Rex part fit so well and matched up with howzer perfectly
Imagine if all the regs revolted against crosshair n his squad to eventually escape n be seen in later episodes
Here's my theory:
The clones that were arrested with Howzer get broken out of holding with Howzer. Those clones paint there armour in the same style as Howzer's. They then form into a group called Ryloth Squadron.
They will help the Bad Batch in an upcoming mission.
As argyus said sometimes be a good soldier implies to do what you think is right.

@@starwarsprequelsandsequels7582 im 17 and was introduced to star wars a 3 with attack of the clones. I actually loved the force awakens. It was the first star wars movie where I could see in theaters. But the other two are not as great. And I usually do not talk about the sequels but occasionally I say say something. It always pissed me off how people hated the prequels and then starting bandwagoning it.
The amount of anxiety I had in this scene at wondering if Crosshair was gonna shoot Howzer when they were taking him away...

I love how Howzer refused and even questioned his orders and the fact that some of the clones, despite knowing what it would mean, seemed to feel Howzer was right and also threw down their shields and weapons.

I don't think Cody would do that, seeing how Loyal he was to the Republic, and in Legends (I think) He became an Imperial Trainer evne tho he hated the recruits.
Howzer went from nothing to my third favorite clone trooper of all time just by being a side character in two twenty-minute episodes

We’ve been looking up to the clones since we were little boys in 2007. Still are.
My man Howzer deserves a kama, it’d complete the look.
Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor would be proud.
Even with his helmet on you can see the respect Hunter has for Howser for making this probably suicidal stand.
Now that’s a great leader of soldiers(clones) & the speech he gives his men is inspiring. Howzer would make a great part of the Bad Batch.
