Live @ Carrigan Arms December 1st, 2024. Waylon Crybaby & the Squeaky Wheels performing "Blue Moon of Kentucky". “Blue Moon of Kentucky” was written by Bill Monroe in 1945. It was first recorded by Monroe and his band, The Blue Grass Boys, for Columbia Records in 1946 and released in 1947.
The song reflects Monroe’s distinctive style, combining elements of country, folk, and gospel into what became known as bluegrass music. Its enduring popularity and reinterpretations, such as Elvis Presley’s 1954 rockabilly version, have cemented its place in American musical history.
