Glad you liked it! I love that little timer. Let me know if you end up using something similar and how it works for you. 👊🏼 BTW, thanks for helping me retire!!! 😂

    'mater squared!
It looks like a variation of the Pomodoro technique (tomato shaped timer), which has been around a long time. Whatever the shape of the timer, the method can be a stacked habit - when timer set, then focus. Actually, a refinement would be: WHENEVER I sit down at my desk, I WILL start the timer. THEN I will focus. No other distracting tasks allowed until the timer goes off. Thanks for the reminder.

I've had a lot of friends that use the Pomodoro technique and they swear by it. I never wanted to lock time blocks into my calendar, but the timer is a killer little hack.

Great idea. I will try my iPhone Timer first to avoid one more gadget but I need something short of stock prod to keep me focused.

Let me know how that goes. I thought the same thing .... but the phone was part of my problem. Sigh. I realized I don't want to touch the darn thing because that's one of the back holes that sucks up my time. That said, I totally get not wanting One. More. Thing. All the best!

@@MikeGastin I bought the cube! And it's helping me stay on track. Thanks for this hack. The cube is just so easy and quick to start and it's just enough of a presence on my desk as a reminder.

@@todd1771 Awesome! I am glad to hear it's helping. I love the little thing; such a good motivator and like you said, easy to use.

My pleasure, Brett. Do you have an approach to overcoming procrastination? Or are you one of those rare people who just get stuff done with no problem?

@@MikeGastinno I have pretty bad attention deficit. A 'time timer' has been really useful for me lately! I set it to 45 or 50 minutes... take a 10-20 minute break. Repeat. Realistically I can do about 4 or 5 of those a day.

    • @MikeGastin

Awesome! It's funny how such a simple thing can make a considerable difference.

@@MikeGastin I feel like I didn't get the idea right, because there's a lot of conflicting information on the internet about it. The more I read trying to learn, and then try to put it into practice, the more doubts I get and I end up quiting. Maybe I'm making things more difficult than I need to. Thanks for asking!

    • @MikeGastin

There IS a lot of conflicting info. You should check out Scott P. Scheper's channel. He's intense, but I like the way he's approaching the project. I'm not saying his way is best (it might be!) but that you might get more details that will lead to success. I do wish you the best and hope you can find a path to your goals.

Bad move … the last thing you want to touch or have nearby when you’re procrastinating is your phone. At least, that’s been my experience.
