    Strategy is an integrated set of choices that uniquely positions the firm in its industry so as to create sustainable advantage and superior value relative to the competition.

    Personally, I would define strategic thinking as "the generation of an integrated set of decisions and insights that creates a sustainable advantage towards realising a worthy ideal, and superior value relative to the competition"

    What can we call the 4 steps: Is it: 4 Steps to develop strategic insights?
    1. Building Context
    2. Decomposition & Analysis
    3. Synthesis
    4. Cognitive State

      I entered "strategic thinking" looking for copperexplanation and I found goldexplanation 🎉

    Where does future foresight fit in, is it related to strategic thinking?

      Foresight is helpful. The challenge is it's hard to get the future right.

    The difference between strategy and tactics confuses me. Does GPS give us a strategic route and specific turns are tactics?

    • @MikeGastin
      @MikeGastin  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Your question is about the appropriateness of an analogy. Is GPS analogous to strategy? In some ways, but it's imperfect, as strategy and tactics are contextual. To be fair, strategy and tactics are easily confused and often the "line" is blurry between them. One way (but not the only or perfect way) to think about the difference is to think of strategy as how you're choosing to position yourself and tactics as the actions related to the execution of that positioning. So, your strategy is to be the market's low-cost leader and everything you do on a day-to-day basis to keep your prices down are tactics.

      Thank you. What about football, with position equals WINNER and quarterback equals tactician?

      If you wanted to use GPS as your analogy, I'd say strategy is knowing your desired destination, deciding driving is the ideal way for you to get there, and deciding GPS is the best way to find an ideal route. Tactics include the route produced by your GPS and the many choices you make along your route, like what lane to choose. Those tactical decisions can either be made randomly, or they could be guided by your strategy too. For example, you may choose to speed because of a strategic decision to risk an accident or legal penalties to get there quicker.

    For this to come out only 4 days ago, I can't help but wonder if you were born during the inversion phase of mercury or saturn. I know you dont dive woo, but there is a science to the electrical and magnetic nature these bodies perform just like the moon to waves of an ocean. Regardless, you've verbalized aspects in clear and precise ways to merge both the mercurial-eqsue "processing" with a saturn-eqsue "structuring" - throw in your intuitive expression and you even have the Uranian radiance. Some of our best intellect IS the nature we know most after all. Pleasure encountering your expressions at this time from both the intellectual standpoint, and as lessons which arise in our collective discovery of 'Creation'. Thank you for being and continue to Stay True ❂

      Wow, thanks! You're right, I don't dive "woo" unless it comes to the mysteries of the orthodox Christian faith. However, not knowing the details of your comments I can infer your complement and am grateful. Again thanks.
