Loved watching this. A cross between a TV nature documentary and a TH-cam photography video. I don't think I've ever seen David Attenborough get as excited as you were on the boat though lol. Seriously, amazing footage of an area I image will change immensely over the next 5-10 years so it's wonderful to have videos such as this to document what we have right now
Thank you so much! I'm really happy to hear you say nature documentary. I do try to channel that in my content, though this trip was slightly harder to create on whilst working. I'm in my happy place on the ocean, and I don't think anyone can beat that excitement! :-) I agree with you, and I certainly wasn't prepared for how busy Antarctica is. There are very strict rules for operators and locations are booked like a big chess board, with vessels moving around the peninsula out of sight of one another.. but, seeing the mega ships with 10,000 or more passengers was quite a worrying sight. I'm still unsure about how I feel! Thank you again for taking the time to put a smile on my face - have a great day!
Your videos Rachel aren’t the typical You Tube photography vlogs, more of a documentary style, which I particularly like. This video looks really well on a big tv screen so I’d suggest anybody watching to try viewing that way, a much better experience than a small phone screen. Antarctica looks a truly amazing location and this video certainly does it justice. The joy on your face and the “oh my god” moments show just how much the natural world means to you, it’s a pleasure to see someone so enthusiastic about the world around them. I do like the way you present your black and white photos, I never realised I liked black and white Sea bird photos until I started seeing yours and what an impact they make. Thoroughly enjoyed this film and I hope lots of other people do too.
Hi Darren! This is such an amazingly kind comment, thank you so much for taking the time to share this with me. You've put a huge smile on my face! I'm so happy that you enjoy my videos, I do aim for a more documentary style so it's great that my aim translates.
Loved the mix of tranquility and sheer excitement in this! Those shots are absolutely spectacular 🤍🖤 Such a pleasure to have met you and thanks for your help and the memories x
You're the best! You bought the most amazing comfort and friendship to every second of this experience. It was a genuine pleasure to make memories with you and I hope that there are many, many, many more!!
Great video again, Rachel. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience wit us. Loved all the results and it's no wonder you became 'Wildlife photographer of the year'! 👏👏👏
I have seen several videos from your fellow photographers have posted from this trip. It has been fun to see each photographers take on the trip. I really like the audio you had with the penguins. That audio was the best I have heard and helps me imagine what it must have been like to be there. Your images are simply stunning!
Stunning, simply stunning. I don't have words to sum up my feelings about the beauty of both the place and your photography. I should have been there with you but had to turn back from Santiago for health reasons. Now even more gutted. 2026 maybe?
Amazing video, love your work Rachel its very inspiring and has given me the confidence that it's ok to shoot photos deliberately under/over exposed. Thank you for sharing
Fabulous! I love your creativity Rachel. Many, including me, tend to become overawed with such surroundings, but you don’t and have gotten some extraordinary images.
Great video Rachel. Penguins are my favorite birds, they are so vocal though aren't they? I can see one of the penguin shots as a WPOTY and on display. You have a unique style. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful!!! I couldn't imagine being on such a trip with such a wonderful collection of photographers. Have you all considered doing a book together of your adventure?
Thank you so much, Dave! It certainly was an awesome get-together. I really like the idea of a book together.. there is talk of another trip in 2026 so perhaps it's possible!
Amazing! Thank you so much . I had the luck to go on a trip to Antarctica this january and recognized many places. Brought back unforgettable memories. What an extraordinary place on earth, isn't it?
My wife and I just watched your captivating video of the trip to Antartica and we were both impressed with your very different (compared to many TH-camrs) manner of presentation. The high-key penguin photos were a huge hit with us. New subscriber.

I've got to ask. How on earth do you afford the equipment, that camera and lens combo is soo expensive.
Hello, I'm a Nikon Creator :-)
