We have made it. Touchdown on the continent. We also see the only Adelie Penguins of the trip on this first day. Next up are Gentoos and later on Chinstrap Penguins.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I am enjoying your trip vicariously. In my wildest dreams but for now, I look forward to each instalment. Thank you!
Loving the adventure So far can't wait for the next instalment. Me and my son loved the penguins at the end and he can't wait for the next video as his eyes lit up when you said thousands of penguins.
Martin!! Good to hear form you man. Are you in Florida at the moment? Whe are we going to see you in some of these colder temps? You got to ask Vindkat to come join us in Antarctica a couple years from now.
Yeah that reflection was a winner. One you see in the pile and go 'ooohhhhhh yeahhhhhh, that's a good one'. Kinda like observing ones excrement after a night out eating doner kebabs at a stripclub in Berlin.
@@albertorocha_photography No in all seriousness I am fine with the colours and apparently the A7RV has updated auto WB settings, so that may also make a difference with that higher res sensor.
@@gregorsnell I didn’t know about the update auto WB settings. I have nothing against Sony, seriously. I think I just got used to Canon’s user interface. It’s very straight forward. Hope all is well buddy 👍🏻😜
Wow. Great video. We just returned 3 weeks ago on Polar Latitudes Seaventure, and this brings back so many memories. Can’t wait to learn more about your trip. Kinda wish we could have gone on your photography focused cruise!
We were in Antártica in January. What an adventure! Simply spectacular. And when the sun does come out, it takes your breath away! Enjoy. Looking forward to your upcoming videos.
Awesome Greg! I’ve done 8 summer working trips to Antarctica aboard 6 different icebreakers with tours of Davis, Casey, Mawson, DDU, Macquarie Island and Showa station maintaining helicopters and operating drones out of Hobart. Typically a southern ocean crossing takes 2 weeks at sea and is far more treacherous than the Drake passage. I’ve experienced 50ft seas that have blown in the bridge windows, been adrift in a ship that blew up and caught fire in the path of an approaching cyclone, been grounded on rocks and much more. Wishing you a safe adventure though and great content 👍🏼
Wow!!!! That sounds insane. Not something us tourists are too interested in I don't think. We got lucky crossing the Drake and had an amazing time visiting Antarctica. I hope to go back one day soon. This first trip was just the tip of the iceberg.
Stunning Greg, looking forward to more. One of those moments when you have to kick yourself to believe you are there. Congratulations on all 7 continents 👍👌
Just back home from a short trip away and been looking forward to catching this and it certainly was worth the wait Greg. What an amazing day and the arrange of video and images reaffirmed the beauty of the place as it was simply breath taking
Really beautiful scenery. Loved the shots and edits of that berg. The tones are superb. The shot of the whale tale is superb. All great stuff dude. I followed the gal with the wave shots ages ago, she does stunning work.
Gorgeous scenery Greg what a place to visit. The video and captures are absolutely amazing like always. Must of been a cool ride on the Zodiacs with that cool feeling of the mountains around and icebergs that surrounded you all. So love the penguins so so cute!! Take Care and cheers from us All!!
That wasn't great, it was GREAT! Awesome footage and incredible moments. I like how you switch between the different scenes. That type of music is perfect for this scenery! Thanks for this video! Well done, Sir! 👌🏼
Jan-T!!!! Good to see you here man and cheers for the comment. It was a challenge filming handheld from Zodiacs but I am happy with these results. I'll need to get more practice in eventually though. Looking forward to your next Urbex adventures my friend. We should go to Brandenberg for a lost places road trip one day. There are a ton of cool abandoned spots around Berlin.
@@gregorsnell That's funny. Yesterday I spoke with a friend and we talked about making an Urbex-Adventure-Trip by train to Brandenburg with some overnights this year. We want to visit "Little Prypjat" and some other places.
Do you often work on this ship? I’m planning to do this trip Christmas 2024. Any chance you’ll be the photography coach? I’ve been following your channel for a long time!
Did you stabilise the footage in post Greg? If you stabilise footage shot at 1/50s (or whatever 180 degree shutter), you will stabilise the video. But, NOT the motion blur that was in the original footage. That will appear just like what you got there... That is your 'error', not the A7iv ;) How to prevent that is shooting in a faster shutterspeed. Then you do not have smooth motion blur. But you can always add that in post. Davinci for example has a motion blur option on the color page (next to noise removal).
Hi, yeah I stabilised some of it in post and it helped. I think the micro jitters are actually an issue with the 100-400. At least that was another point of interest from a fellow videographer. I still think it has something to do with the active stabilisation engaged while handheld with the 100-400, but I did stop using it after this day so it'll be interesting to see how the next few days footage turns out. If you can, comment on the next video too and I'll respond there with hopefully more info. I like your idea of pumping the shutter speed too though. that makes perfect sense and likely helps too.
@@gregorsnell it's easy to see Greg. If you watch the frames where you experience that jitter, and those frames have a lot of motion blur. Then what you see are not jitters, but the motion blur which have no motion anymore ;)
Amazing that all that happened in just one day! Just breathtaking. Penguins next!
Right?! That's why I was struggling at the end there. Sleep was for the long flight home.

Greg, looks like it was great trip for you. I'm glad you're enjoying the new Sony camera gear, your video looks really nice! Cheers!
Fascinating. Gives me a good idea as to what to expect when I visit the Antarctic Peninsula in late November and early December.
Great video, footage and stills, Greg. Looking forward to the next one.
Nick!! Good stuff, cheers mate!
One of your best videos
So amazing Greg. I just may have to add Antartica to the list.
Come with us in 2 years time.
Fantastic Greg, thanks for taking us along !!! Cant wait to see the Penguins !!

Many thanks good sir!!
Amazing footage and a magical location 🙌🙌 I’m really enjoying the colors of Sony’s footage.
😂😅🤣 I don't know if that's sarcastic or not.
