So glad you’re both feeling better! I am loving Macbeth, and I loved King Lear, and I read the Tempest. Shaketember is awesome, and I agree As You Like It or Much Ado would be fun. I should read a history like Richard III, although the tragedies are my favorite. Shakespeare really can ruthlessly kill large numbers of people! 🍷

I’m sorry to hear about Jason’s health! I hope he has a full recovery soon. Today I read Love Immortal, by Anthony Cavo, a beautiful collection of vintage photos of dogs with their humans, and stories about dogs and dog-related topics from the past. Saturday is unfortunately the second full day in a row without any power where I am, thanks to Hurricane Helene. Hopefully it’ll be restored by Sunday, or I can at least go to the library to finally recharge my computer and not have to rely on my phone and iPad with cellular data and hotspots much longer.

Covid is just the pits...the last time we got it was while we were on Spring Break and that was...a disaster! I'm with you on only doing 1 or 2 books during Victober. Last year, I did the group read, which was fun but this year I'm doing my own thing. I'm going to be re-reading The Professor by Charlotte Brontë in prep for my Brontë event in March.
I’m so glad to hear you were both on the mend and Jason is over his stomach bug! I’m going to be reading some Sherlock in honour of Alice and hopefully more but I’ve been struggling to read a huge amount the last few months so we shall see.

Wow that flowers book is amazing! I've accidentally not fit in any Shakespeare this year because I am trying to complete all the shorty September prompts, I still have this weekend though. I want to read Uncle Silas, I enjoy Carmilla. I have no solid plans for Victober yet, I think I will read Conan Doyle's Sir Nigel series, or start it, and maybe Agnes Grey. Uncle Silas sounds interesting, I remember Jennifer liking it. I'm starting Victober with The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. I rarely read comedies by Shakespeare, even though I loved A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night. So, I think it would be nice to read Much Ado About Nothing or As You Like It next year. Hey Kelly, I haven't watched any of the Victober announcement videos this year, so I've no idea what the chosen books and themes are because, like you, I tend to go my own way with these events. And I've long been wanting to read Middlemarch by George Eliot so that's what I've picked. I also cheated by starting mid-September because my copy has 918 pages and I reckon it'll take me clear through until November. Hope Uncle Silas gives you all the chills and thrills you're hoping for.
Thank you for the shoutout! I forgot about Victober until I'd already made my TBR video, but I had wanted to read Wuthering Heights in September and didn't get to it, so I'll mostly try to get to that one.

I have already started Vanity Fair, but I will be only halfway done by October 1st at a chapter a day. I am also planning to read The Small House at Allington and Deerbrook. I also hope to fit in a biography of Queen Victoria, but that might get pushed to November. I don't know how the Victober hosts fit in so much Victorian reading. I read those books at a slower pace than modern books.

I've been a great run recently: Northern Voices (M Pride), The Last Bookshop in London (M Martin), Writing Tools (RP Clark) and The Slip (P Peiffer.) I read a lot of interesting NF. Do you find "a good run" puts a lot of pressure on the next book you pick up? Cheers. Wishing your household wellness. A little Shakespeare thought: I read all the sonnets in order, one per day, last summer. Then I read The Picture of Dorian Gray (O Wilde) and Mrs Dalloway (V Woolf,) both of which have loads of connections with the Shakespeare sonnets. Oscar Wilde was a Shakespeare scholar and Dorian Gray is infused with his influence, so much so I read Wilde's short story, "The Portrait of Mr W. H." which is considered a sketch Wilde used to create Dorian Gray. W. H. are the initials used to identify the object of the Shakespeare sonnets, first the fair youth and later the love to whom they are written. Coincidence? I don't think so. Read it. You can find it free online. But it does help to know something about the sonnets before you read it. Even a quickie tutorial on TH-cam about the sonnets would be enough, so you know a bit about their mystery, the fair youth and how their tone changes over time. I've read Carmilla, but haven't read the other stories in the collection. I don't remember the occult detective though, so I hope I'm not wrong when the internet tells me it will fit.

Word on the street is wroters for Season 4 chose to change things a little from the book, but Herron is on set, so not sure how that works. I was inspired to pick the series up after listening to your talk about Trollope. I am keeping it realistic as I joined Tony P from Life On Books for a Lonesome Dove book club event. I have been wanting to read Lonesome Dove for some time but edition I have is 858 pages and I am a Slooooow reader! 🤢🤮👩⚕🥣🥤☔☀❤🩹
