- I needed new wheels to fit the calipers, tyres and Colt suspension geometry and the 2Forge ZF1 fit the bill.

コルトラリーアート! :)
I got these too, but in 17x8. I wanted to maximise the strenght/weight ratio, and they don't dissappoint. They take a lot of abuse. Also, the wheels were perfectly round and balanced, this is often not the case.
Nice! They almost look like the 2nd Series wheels, except appear to have more spokes for those who are numerically challenged :) Ceramic coat them for dust protection?
Yeah. Been thinking about that.
Great Colt content! I have recently got a Version-R with 16"x7J rims. Did you choose 17"x7.5J for track days or do you think there is an advantage for fast road use?
Bit of a story. My Colt came with 17x7 wheels so have always gone with 17" (wheels after that were 17x8) out of habit as much as anything else. Except the brief time I had 15" inch wheels for the track to fit on A050s. 15" wheels, if you don't upgrade the brakes too big, look fat. When I did brake upgrade and changed wheels stayed with 17" to allow more space for cooling though some 16" wheels could fit at a squeeze. Went with 17x7.5 specifically for best fit for track tyre (Yoko A052 since A050s in 17" did not come in the right size) fit in the appropriate size (215/17/40) but also have a second set of identical wheels for the road tyres (Michelin PS4) so the wheel alignment is the same for both. If I had my time again I would stick with the 16" wheels (so long as the brakes were happy) just for the extra inch of tyre and a little bit more compliance on the road on a day to day basis.
@@rcoltlyf Appreciate the detailed response. I had got it into my head that as I add more power I would need 7.5J or more rims. You have satisfied me that I should be good to stick with what I have!
You think I should stick to 205/16/45 or can I get away with 215/16/45 on 7J rims?
@@HawkTsar I was running 215/17/40 on the 17x7 +40 rims initially without issues. It depends a bit on the offset (check here www.wheel-size.com/calc/) and whether the car is lowered as to whether they rub or not. I recently replaced my wheel arch liners and realised I now have a bit of scrubbing on the LF full lock that was not there on the old liners because they had worn a hole! I intend to lift the car a few mm (the car is dropped pretty low) to hopefully make that go away. In your case 215 should fit OK (see here www.tyresizecalculator.com/charts/tire-width-for-a-wheel-rim-size-chart) and I like a bit more tyre to protect the rims from damage and just a bit more grip at the track.
So you gave up on vortex generators?
Not quite yet. There is one last test I want to do again at Sandown using a slimmed down setup (focusing in on what should make a difference) with better quality GPS data for accuracy. Just been struggling to get my days lines up to make it happen. Will get there eventually!
@@rcoltlyf Hope everything goes as you wish man!
