    Lee you are so right about driving our cars as much as we can. Georgina and I belonged to the now defunked Coasters Canada based in Kitchener Ontario. One night we were stopped in at a show in Cambridge Ontario and 2 boys rode up on bikes one said to the other "these are cool cars", the second boy answered "these are Coaster cars they really drive them". What a totally nice thing to hear!

    These kinds of cars made trips like this routinely back in the day. They didn't do it at 80 miles an hour on the freeways of this country, but in 1947 cross country two lanes like much of Highway 101 were the majority of the roads across the country. In 1976 I drove an unrestored 1947 International pickup truck from Pullman in Eastern Washington 8 miles from the Idaho border to Bremerton, Washington on Puget Sound and never really gave it a second thought. It held a steady 50 miles an hour and burned a quart of oil on the trip.

    Hello Shannon and Lee. It’s Severn on Sunday morning. What a great way to start the day. With a road trip and live music. Loverly to see the old ford against all the modern stuff. My youngest and myself went to Sweden and I was getting some cd’s of one of my favourite bands the go getters the seller on the stall said there playing tonight a few Miles away. So we find this little industrial site and sure enough, there they are set up on a curtain side trl. What a great day that was. I don’t no if you do it but I always carry a little gas stove for just in case. Some cans of soup and water to make coffee. Nothing worse than hanging around for a few hours in the cold. Shannon is a keeper what a gal. I could ramble on with the memories you have made me think about. Wishing you both a very merry Christmas and happy new year. Tim.

    The same thing happened to me at Port Angeles on a trip a few years ago. I goofed around getting there in plenty of time but it wasn't in time because the winter hours started that day. I didn't have very much money then and slept in my car in a motel parking lot. Good thing because someone tried to break in and I scared them off. All went well untill we were driving to a French restaurant somewhere up north on the island and my car got egged. It was still great fun and a beautiful place. I go back as often as time will let me.

      Yea I think gas is even worse there than here. I love going to the US cause gas is so cheap there! It almost hit $3/L here in the summer.
      I'm not sure what the 47 gets for gas milage, but it's not as good as it should be. It runs pretty rich.

    Love a road trip! Wife and I used to take the Rambler all over the place. Factory three on the tree with a Borg Warner overdrive lever under the dash made for really good gas mileage. Our longest trp was from the Oregon coast down to Baja Mexico and back. Good times! The vacuum pump part of the fuel pump was bad so our vacuum wipers worked pretty bad, they only worked good when you let off the gas. I converted to electric a long time ago. Thank you for the video and sharing your road trip. Lee, I appreciate you and your videos.

    • @LGKustoms
      @LGKustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s so awesome! What year is Rambler?
      In 2020 Shannon and I bought a 66 Rambler Classic for $200. It had been parked for 21 years. We rebuilt the brakes, got it running and immediately left on a 500km logging road rally. The car still had 21 year old gas in the tank when we left.
      It ran flawlessly, and we finished 5th out of 20 cars. Had the same wiper issue as yours though haha

    • @gregvanderboom5011
      @gregvanderboom5011 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LGKustoms we have a 66 Marlin which was built on the Classic chassis. I bought it in 85 or 86 also for $200 at a Goodyear dealership that had a Mechanic's lien on it. The car was covered in tree sap and red dirt so that it looks like a rusted mess. My Dad rubbed out a small area with thinner and a Scotch Brite and the finish looked great. It cleaned up into a nice looking car. However currently it's not in the great shape. It's got some cracked body filler, lots scratches from dogs jumping on the roof, missing bits of trim and the interior is trashed.

The lake is frozen ... we just went thru a snow storm the last few days and you don't want to hear what the overnight projected low temps are for next week . On a bright note we did see your new video and not too long from now is the shortest day of the year . Also viewed the newest Canadian Hot Rods magazine . Kurt Cobain memorial . Saw the guitar statue and recall the Jagstang . Fender Jaguar and Fender Mustang combination he rigged together . Fender actually started making them for a bit in the early 2000's I think it was . Saw a used one years ago in a music store in Wpg regret not buying it. Our oldest son did get a Joe Strummer , Telecaster back around 2008 . We picked it up on our way back from Lori's family Christmas get together . I remember , "just take it ... your bringing back in a few days to get it set up anyway ... we know who you are ." No paper work , no money exchange , until I dropped it off to get set up . My gosh I sure talk a lot about Fender's on you channel and there not even car ones !

      @@LGKustoms Thank you for the content. I just watched some of the 1961 Comet build, but it makes me sad because my ex-brother-in-law stole my 1964 Falcon wagon years ago which was Ford's turquoise color. I had family beg me not to have him jailed, so I still get angry to this day...Not your problem.

      It doesn’t care. It’s been running on unleaded gas for two thirds of its life.

    I like it, I like it. Don't you just live vacuum wipers? I had those on the majority of the cars I've owned. You know what? They worked all the time. Hey, I like the new electric one too.

      When they work I don’t mind them.
      This car had absolutely no wipers when I got it. Just two holes in the cowl. So it was easier to source an electric kit than to find all the original parts and restore it.

    Do you see how you were leaning on the fender ? If that was one of today's cars it would dent down to the tire.
