I'm really disappointed they changed the aesthetic design of Oregon when they reworked it, it really watered down the references to the Waco siege which deserves way more attention.
My most hated map is Canal, because I literally work there xD in real-life, the actual location isn't as high-tech as shown in-game, actually, there's currently an agency in the building.

The reason we can't play Bartlett anymore is because it sucks. Ubi didn't even want to make it a map for multiplayer cause it was made from the ground up for T-hunt. They added it after a lot of players asked for it and it terrorized ranked for years until it was removed.
In the nighthaven labs there is an animus from assassins creed, i think its a cool Easter egg that a lot of people miss when playing, theres even an ai assistant in the animus saying things like: "welcome to the animus" or "remember to take breaks in beetwen sessions" im a huge fan of AC and i love this easter egg

In the game room on Villa, there is a war table that has circles stacked on each other red vs. blue. This is a reference to an obscure Ubisoft game R.U.S.E. I love that game so much, so seeing that table when the map first came out made me very happy!

Funny you say that, I took a hiatus from the game after they released Thunderbird and just came back the final week or two of the Fen release. My first time playing at Emerald Plains, my thought was exactly this. It felt similar to University.
Plane was in Rogue Spear, same map layout, just a remake. Consulate is inspired by Embassy, the first level of Rainbow Six 1 in 1999 and the first call team Rainbow went on in the book, although originally it was the Belgian embassy. Skyscraper is directly inspired by an exotic recon level in Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield that you later return to for a raid. All the same elements were there: helipad adjacent to natural landscape atop a Japanese inspired penthouse with crazy angles and lots of guards. Outback has the name Hanley's on the outside of it. That's a reference to Timothy Hanley, one of the assignable operators in the original rainbow six games. The insinuation is that he retired and opened an auto body shop. Coastline is an amalgamation of Ibiza's bustling DJ/party scene in the form of a similar-looking property on a private island there called Isla Sa Ferradura. Bank was a level in Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, complete with basement vault area and reimagined in the same vein as Skyscraper. Theme Park appears to have been inspired by Operation Ghost Dance, a level in Rainbow Six 1, which itself was inspired by one of the hostage calls in the book. Although the latter were less cultural like in Siege and more Halloween oriented. Sniper Homer Johnson got in trouble with John Clark for shooting the lead hostage taker in the gut instead of the head (he shot a kid) "d** slow you ****" House was definitely from the book, a hostage there was a property caretaker who was a Holocaust survivor having a PTSD flashback. He spotted the Rainbow snipers because he knew the property like the back of his hand and noticed the ghillie suits. The seasonal uniforms are a reference to the book, where Rainbow being a secret unit meant their requestors had them dress as the local hostage rescue team of the country. The main villain of the book discovered Rainbow when he watched the news and noticed the Belgian Polizia was abnormally efficient in their takedown.

Them removing Bartlett because it's a school is something I don't get. These games and many of Tom Clancy's books deal with real world issues. Why hide that in your game when the whole point is to stop terrorism, mass shootings and hostage situations.

You mention the connections to the books a lot, but there’s a lot more maps that have some representation in the books. Presidential Plane, Bank, Theme Park, Stadium, Hereford(though the attack didn’t take place at Hereford), and if you really want to stretch, Labs and House all have a book counterpart
For the plane map it shouldn’t be Heathrow unless it never took off . Stansted is the designated airport if a hijacking takes place. As you said Heathrow is extremely busy and most likely wouldn’t have the space if something like this happens . Probably just a minor detail they overlooked
It's actually Heathrow Airport in the UK, the developers confirmed it. While the plane is the POTUS Air Force One based on the Boeing 747 however the plane is much more gigantic in the game compared to the real 747. Overall the game took a lot creative liberty in order to make the game more entertaining and balanced. All the maps in the game seems excessively large with very little form to function for what is it built for if it were to be used in real-life.
Was thinking heraford is similar to kill house in vegas 2 just kinda wish they would bring back the villa from that game as i think it would work well in siege

Both ingame map and the book locations were Heathrow Airport Consulate is not really based of Iranian Embassy situation. While the similarity is there, its more of a depiction of constant attacks and protest near actual real life French embassy in Ivory Coast. Ivorians hate the french, and the map shows what would happen if they go over the tipping point.

For Favela, those black trucks are called "caveirão" (big skull, translating to english does not give the impact of that word properly tbh... the ending there, the "ão" is something akin to the "AHU" of the 300 spartans, it's really heavy wording)... If you search videos about it they are basically bullet proof trucks intended to break blockades and penetrate the thick areas of favelas... It's *insane* and the cops that work inside those are even crazier

I think Themepark may be based off of an abandoned theme park called Nara Dreamland. Very similar.
