    Thanks for the live action detailed tour, George! Much easier than half-explained descriptions and somewhat confusing images in some manuals.

    I just bought a '76 2.0 last week. It was a "barn find". It has been storage as a weekend driver for 10 years and then stored for an additional 15 years. All it has is surface rust on the body. The common places for rust on my 914 are don't exist. :) I don't know if the engine runs yet because the previous owner removed the transmission to replace the clutch and never finished the job. I understand that the engine can't be started without the transmission because the starter mounts to the back of the transmission. Wish me luck on my new project!

      Sounds good! What ser # do you have? Mine was made in November, very last ones was Dec '75. Very low production in 76,
