2 cards (1 to stop the first from penatrating), one peice of wood with a slit and the image of a deck of cards on the side.

@sinajakelic best explanation: He lied. It is a magic trick. The direction of the grain is there to hide the thin hole in the middle of the wood.

"HOLY WOOD" gimmick, by Hanson Chien. Also check "Card Thru Aluminium Block" by Oliver Magic. Same concept.
@@sinajakelicif you pause the video at the right time when he is showing you the wood you can see that the grain hides a very thin slit in the wood. The reason first card doesn’t go thru is shown at beginning when he slides the first card back and forth to show it won’t go thru and you see the second card peeking out of the side of the box as it’s moved over the surface of the wood obstructing the slit then he grabs the second card which leaves the slit open to pass the card through

My guess is its actually 2 pieces of wood cut along the grain and held together by magnets.. so it appears as one solid block when you pull it out, but with the slit in the box right where the wood-magnet pieces join.. the card forces the magnets apart to pass the card through the deck/ block of wood.
and he doesn’t show how it’s done like a true professional a magician never reveals their secrets

How does that work?
There is slit in the piece of wood. But it is machined so that it can be closed up by pressing and it is hidden in the grain. Very well engineered gimmick.
