4:44 the rabbit gets into the hat. Paul had a long career on TV and he was usually entertaining and very inventive. They were good times. He wasn't all that keen on the BBC, like many others, but Paul's patter and personality made him very successful. He was The Man, and he fooled millions for donkeys years. RIP.
when you watch it twice its easy to find out what the misdirection is and how the trick works it doesnt fool you twice .... none the less very entertaining and well performed
Paul was a great magician i watched him growing up as a kid in the 80s. his patter and jokes were brilliant, But i didn't always understand them as a kid but do now as an adult. Well im going to stop now because im rabbiting on !! RIP Paul
+i8thegovernment It's incredible to watch old TV shows that I enjoyed as a kid, and realize now that I didn't actually understand a thing anyone was saying.
I saw him do a variation of this in 2011 at the Edinburgh festival. He didn’t do the arm going deep into the hat. The table was longer and there was a lot of going back and forth. He pulled a toy rabbit out of the hat a few times. When the sheet dropped you could see the motor which was running the hat back and forth. That was all very good and funny but the finish was beautiful. He was at one end of the table with the toy rabbit and the hat was at the other. He’s talking and then you just heard someone go “oh” from the audience. The real rabbit had popped up in the hat at the other end of the table. Wonderful bit of misdirection, especially for the kids
When the rabbit in the car goes out, the rabbit is placed into the hat from behind the table. Notice how he has the hat against his chest afterwards - subtle and amazing. ^^;
The rabbit coming out from the hat trick was already revealed by THE MASKED MAGICIAN six years ago. However I like to note that the hole in the hat is very small that the rabbit can sit in there comfortably.
I think I know how he did it :p At: 4:41 when he holds the hat behind the table and sets the blanket in place again, I think he uses his hands to move a rabbit (that's was probably in a box behind the table) into the hat. :p
just watched a HALLOWEEN SHOW OF PAUL DANIELS and earlyer the one with the masked magician i switched that one off as i think magic should not be shown how its done it takes the FUN and the mystery out of magic i all have liked paul daniels . and david nixon. how i wish there was some dvds of his shows aspesally his hHALLOWEEN ONES HE BROUGHT LAUGHTER AND MISTERY TO HIS SHOWS JANET GREENING
There is two sides to the table... the front part, and the part at the back with a guy and the rabbit. The car/rabbit is a distraction whilst Paul switches it with the other hat. The "pretend" rabbit is moved by the guy at the back. The way I see it....
@irishmenster The camera switches to the car with the rabbit going off stage while Daniels puts the rabbit in and the audience are all looking at the car too... misdirection!
Based on the introduction patter, I would guess a Royal Variety Performance. Wikipedia has a full list of performers for each year, Paul Daniels appears three times.
@irishmenster No, but the camera did which is 99.9999% of his audience on a TV show. In any case the load is more or less invisible at the back of the table, but if you have misdirection as well that helps!
I think someone behind the curtain got the rabbit Into his hat when everyone was distracted by the rabit and the car and then held it by his chest so it would not jump out.
I don't know why Debbie had to fumble around at the back of the box, before and after the trick? Surely they could have come up with an illusion where they didn't do need to do that and therefore looked a lot more impressive and less suspicious?
Beautifully done. I would like to point something. I noticed the act is slow. That means back 50y ago time was slower..life was not fast..no social stress, no phones, no internet, no computers. You could enjoy full day and night, but as today standarts that will be equalent of 2 days
To those who might be wondering. The table has 2 sides. and at 4:43 he takes the hat behind the table, where the rabbit will jump in. As he will show you later on, the rabbit is specifically dressured to go in the hat.
First things is he didn't show the hat first. Maybe there was a hidden person in rear part of the table who controlled this stuck rabbit to the table and released rabbit with car. By the way its an axiomatic that there was a hole in his hat. And rabbit was released by person in the hat through the hole in the table below the hat. This trick is not difficult to understand. But no one should torture animals and birds for profession. And is it needed to show half naked laady in this show? She is showing her cleveg. Is it a show of se xuality?
Not rocket science, is it ? He distracts the audience with the dummy rabbit in the car, then switches hats or slips the real rabbit in the hat while their attention is diverted.
+Anthony Morland The hat was switched behind the table, and for most people they would have looked at the driving rabbit anyway. That would be the misdirection. So the editing is a mute point
your missing the entire point. it's not about pulling a rabbit from a hat, or pulling off a super crazy trick. it's the humor of watching him struggle and mess up the trick that is the real treat. he's not trying to impress you, he's trying to make you laugh.
Roger W Actually he didn't switch the hat at all, the rabbit was hidden in a handkerchief behind the table. then he just simply stuffed the hanky in the hat
I laughed so hard when that rabbit came rolling out in that jeep. Absolute timeless comedy magic.
Nah I didn’t laugh, not once, not ever. I’ll never laugh at a rabbit in a jeep. Ever. Never ever.
Doesn't matter how it was done. Just beautifully performed and entertaining for children.
Loved his show. And his lovely assistant.

Beautiful... This artist was a true magician!!
when you watch it twice its easy to find out what the misdirection is and how the trick works it doesnt fool you twice .... none the less very entertaining and well performed
Rabbit rolling out part? 😅
@@condorX2 It wasn't a real rabbit rolling out...
great showmanship!!

That's not a rabbit that's a hair. Clever.
Xerdoz hare
And thousands of magicians have stolen that joke. 😂🤣😂
We love Paul Daniels. He's a brilliant magician with a unique comedy style, added to which he's a really nice and interesting person. T.
It's funny yet cute to see the rabbit going in the hat twice
Best part, besides his patter, is that he took the time to train the rabbit to hop into the hat.
I love this show.
RIP paul daniels 1938-2016

Great distraction, loved it he was superb

Ooooh.... I miss those days!
I LOVED the Watership Down reference!
0:45 best trick in the act.
"Thats not a rabbit thats... a hair/hare" I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE :D
I think I know how he did it :p
At: 4:41 when he holds the hat behind the table and sets the blanket in place again, I think he uses his hands to move a rabbit (that's was probably in a box behind the table) into the hat. :p
When I was a kid I was in awe of Paul Daniels
This is genius. Really classic magic.
Paul Daniels is coming to Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, Wednesday 12th Oct 2011 @ 7:30pm!
Now pull a Hat out of a Rabbit.

Loved it

This is why everyone loved him just born to entertain.
Not everyone lived him, Ali Bongo hated him for thieving a trick tuppence from him donkeys years ago. He never gave it back neither.
@@alkatrask2704 🤣
A hat is a good rabbit habitat!
I love this rabbit at 3:50
Anyone know how the hat moves across the table? Wires? Motor?
The camera cuts away right at the point of the load.
How did he make the hat go from left to right
@irishmenster The camera switches to the car with the rabbit going off stage while Daniels puts the rabbit in and the audience are all looking at the car too... misdirection!
That’s so cool how he did the disclaimer to not hold the a rabbit by their ears
do someone know from where this video came from? when/where/what show/tv/any info.
Based on the introduction patter, I would guess a Royal Variety Performance. Wikipedia has a full list of performers for each year, Paul Daniels appears three times.
5:20 😍😍😍😍😍
Does anyone know the name of the song e used for this performance?
Run rabbit run. It's a war song I think
Wow
So funny but it helped us learn so much.
Yeah
Easy trick, but still great fun. R.I.P.
@irishmenster No, but the camera did which is 99.9999% of his audience on a TV show. In any case the load is more or less invisible at the back of the table, but if you have misdirection as well that helps!
Is he alive or dead?
comedy gold. I love it :)
I think someone behind the curtain got the rabbit Into his hat when everyone was distracted by the rabit and the car and then held it by his chest so it would not jump out.
i like how there is another real rabbit under the curtain at 5.14 :P
4:50 is where the magic happens.
I don't know why Debbie had to fumble around at the back of the box, before and after the trick? Surely they could have come up with an illusion where they didn't do need to do that and therefore looked a lot more impressive and less suspicious?

Darling
he is epic ;O
It's for children missus alright that's for children!
Spot that!!!

Classic rabbit in a hat
For children right...?
When?
forstaken haha
😊
Starsky the bunny must be comfy in that hat.
Kinda educational :D
David? Is that you??
I think the real magic was how he kept his Toupee on.
Lmao
4:52 😅😅😅😅
LLOOLOLOL nice!
lol i like it
good dental care and fast reactions.
Debbie was some kind of babe! whew very good looking
She still is.
thats my great uncle
And you think the curtain fell by accident, lol
@captainclick728 I thought the fruit was the easiest part.
THATS SO SMART.. i think i know how he did it
He distracted everyone with the rabbit in the car and someone put the rabbit in the hat when he lowered the hat behind the table.
2019?
If you carefully observe at x0.25
Then also u will never understand how he does it.😂🤣
🐇🐇🐇🎩🎩🎩
Penn and Teller are great... But no one will beat Tommy Cooper. :o)

Yes
cute :D
The rabbit was hanged behind the table 😂
Not rocket science, is it ? He distracts the audience with the dummy rabbit in the car, then switches hats or slips the real rabbit in the hat while their attention is diverted.
God said no witching or you’ll go six feet down
great spray on hair...
HAHA THAT IS GOOD MAGIC
This is so easy....
OK
i've always wondered what attracted debbie mcgee to the millionaire paul daniels
such a pity he sounds like punch and judy
You can't really call it magic if the real rabbit gets INTO the hat when the camera cuts to the toy rabbit. You call that editing.
+Anthony Morland The hat was switched behind the table, and for most people they would have looked at the driving rabbit anyway. That would be the misdirection. So the editing is a mute point

Roger W Actually he didn't switch the hat at all, the rabbit was hidden in a handkerchief behind the table. then he just simply stuffed the hanky in the hat
That is hard to say since the hat had a hole in it and then the camera tracks the movin bunny, where he made the switch
when he puts the curtain back on that's when the hat switch is made.
@irishmenster 4:44
Last time he did this act was Dick and Dom Hoopla
OG Penn & Teller. Possibly with lower morals.
I know how is done because I am a magician my self :) ^-^
ha,ha , :) this is so nice trick ;)
Lovely trickery
It not a rabbit. It is a hair (hare) witty humour
i know how this is done and @acejacko23 is right it is misdirection
If only that was true....
He switched the hat with another one behind the table using the rabbit in a car as a distraction.. yep
