One interesting thing, up until a few years ago, they had it painted the wrong color. The conservators found that the pale yellow color it is now was actually the correct color.
It's my goal to visit Mt. Vernon one day. It must be such a surreal feeling being next to his grave. He's so close yet so far. On another note, when you showed that large tree, it reminded me of a wooden vase I purchased from Mt. Vernon. The vase was made from a chestnut tree planted in the 1700's and fell during a storm on the day my father died. Nice video.
Thanks. I would really recommend a visit. Yes, that is surreal. A very interesting story about the chestnut tree. So few left since the blight wiped them out at the turn of the last century. I think they are trying to make a comeback though.
Thanks for taking us along, Robert. It’s amazing to be able to stand at the tomb and be within feet of America’s very first president. Nice tour. I think someone is very partial to sheep, lol.
Hi Robert, that's a great tour you did of George's place. I see he still has that ugly green room that I told him to get rid of. That color is hideous. I can see your no sheep whisperer. Looks like you had a grand old time. Robert, thanks for taking us with you
Well Pappy, it looks like you made it up to Cooke Rd. Wish I had known you were going to be there, I would have crashed the party if the time was right!🤣 When were you there?
Robert Mt. Vernon is hands down one of my favorite historical sites to visit.
I really enjoyed it. This was my first time even though I lived in Virginia for 20 years.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, John.
Thanks for the tour Robert. Some great history there.
Your welcome, Floyd.
Very nice Robert. Beautiful piece of history right there.. thanks you for sharing it with us.. I have never been there..
This was my first time.
Thanks for sharing Robert. Wife and I were there many years ago. We could not go inside due to repairs.

I grew up around the corner..home sweet home My parents were married there and I worked in the snack shop..
That's cool. It was the first time I have been there although I used to live in Virginia. I'll definitely go back if I get the chance.

It is amazing. The lamb actually cam up and licked my hand. I was videoing when that happened. :D
Visited there many many years ago
You should go back. It's probably changed a lot, especially the outside color since they found out it wasn't originally white, but a pale yellow.
Looks like fun 👍🏻
My sister and I really enjoyed it. She had been there about 10 times and this was my first.
Very cool tour
Thanks, Dwight.
Very cool tour Robert! - Jason
It was.
Very cool tour Robert.
Thanks, John
That was so cool Robert, thanks for the tour, or I might never had seen this! (Dave).
It was a good tour. Thanks, Dave.
@@FlyingCrow Very cool and your welcome.
Awesome Robert. Have you been to Arlington National Cemetery by the way or Washington DC?
Yes, I've been to those places many times. I just never got to Mt. Vernon before for some reason.

That is an ugly color of green. Supposedly it was expensive paint at the time and was tinted using copper.

We were there on May 3rd around 4PM.
