The teaching of "Turn the other cheek" non-violence is NOT rooted in Old Testament "Eye for an eye."
It IS however, fully consistent with Buddhist teachings (from 500BC).
Neither is "Oneness with God" rooted in the Old Testament.
It IS however, fully consistent with the even older Hindu Adwaita Vedanta.
To truly understand Jesus, you need to study the spiritual traditions of India, NOT the Old Testament.
New Testament writers tried to shoehorn Jesus's teachings into a tradition those teachings simply contradict.
Needless to say, they messed up big time.
