Oh Sarah, I am going to love this channel! My grandma’s parents immigrated to the United States from Scotland (Edinburgh Lanarkshire). I’ve always always wanted to visit there. (I’m 62). Seven years ago I became disabled and my dreams of exploring Scotland were squashed. When I heard you wanted to share it with us I was more than thrilled. I’m so excited to see it’s beauty and to travel with you. Thank you so so much!! I am from the United States (Wyoming) so I am very familiar with your dry climate of Colorado. I didn’t realize Scotland was so wet and humid. Anyway, thank you again! I can hardly wait for video #2.
Hello! I'm so glad I can help you see this beautiful country if you can't travel here. I hear Wyoming is amazing too (I just watched a beautiful video by Allison Anderson). In fact there are so many places in the states that I still need to visit!

Hi Sarah! I'm glad I found your youtube channel because I want to move to Scotland soon. I'm a graphic designer, video editor, youtuber myself with background in filmmaking (producing mainly). You have a very calming voice and I love your storytelling skills ❤
Hi Sarah, utube is sending me some old videos to catch up on. This was great, everything you say about Scotland is so true. I paint and document the days with scetches and photograpghy. So so much to see and bring joy. Woofie is a braw looking Scot, he made me laugh with his fave foods. Dunnet Head, that's some place, just love it. From one butterfly to another thanks for sharing, and hope you are feeling better Alioban xx
What an excellent introduction to your channel and your time/life in Scotland. Just this first video shows so many different and beautiful views of this land (oh the forest, yes). I live in Washington State. My ancestors are from Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Denmark ( tho I love Scotland most). I have visited Scotland twice, once for one week and the second time for a month. As a child, I lived with my family in the Philippines for 5.5 years and in Fargo for one year. My passion is travel and learning. I am so looking forward to following your channel and learning through your eyes and your words. I love that "dot" out in the Atlantic, past the outer Hebrides, on your to-do list. To think that people used to live out there on that island, it's pretty special. Thank you.
I'm taking my first solo trip to Scotland (Edinburgh and the highlands) in a months' time. Not only is it my much needed solo trip but it's my painting holiday. I cannot wait to explore the light, the seasons, the forests and hills. Your vlogs and painting channels are inspiring me!
So excited to discover your channel, Sarah. For years I have wanted to participate in the Trees for Life rewilding project and in June I am finally going to do it. So now I am watching everything I can find about Scotland, especially the highlands. I'll be back. Thanks again.
Hi Sarah! I found your new channel through your art channel. I can't tell I'm going to be having to put limits on myself or I won't get anything done. Going to paint now...
Haha Cathy I totally know that feeling...I need to stop myself from watching videos a lot! Or at least save them for "after hours" so I can still be productive
I have come over from your art channel. My other half keeps saying he's going to take me to Scotland. He loves it. My grandparents have visited almost yearly all their lives too. It looks so inspiring 😊 fingers crossed we get to visit soon
Hi Sarah, just found your channel and will be working my way through your videos. Thinking of moving to Scotland so these are wonderful insights... especially interesting as Colorado has been one of my wishlist places to live too and yet you moved from there 😮 to Scotland, I can’t think of a better recommendation.
I’ve lived in Aberdeenshire all my life, (68 yo) sadly I’ve taken the beauty of it for granted, it really is awesome. Now I’m retired I’ve travelled the length and breadth of Scotland, can’t get enough of it.
Welcome to Scotland....I’m in Dumbarton near Loch Lomond..hope you’ve managed to see this part of Scotland and if not, it’s a must do. I popped over from your art channel when you mentioned you had immigrated here. Your videography is stunning and I look forward to seeing this beautiful land through your lens
Thank you! I have not explored Loch Lomond yet but it's high on my list! I almost went this summer but had a change of plans. I am determined to go next summer.
@@sarahinscotland, defintely you should...it's beautiful in the winter too especially on a crisp sunny winter's day...I'm currently trying to paint watercolours from the many photos I've taken there at various times of the year
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your video's, on both of your channels. Thank you so much for sharing your world. I dream to be able to come there one day but I cherish your video's. Thank you so much
Love your videos! I live in Illinois. USA. I have always been fascinated with Scotland. I love seeing it through your videos and art work. I am an artist too but paint mostly florals from my garden. ( in watercolor) I am trying to get into doing landscapes. Your paintings are fabulous! I can’t wait to see more of your videos!
@@sarahinscotland You, me and the excessive milk drinker actually used to be roommates for a little while there in Lakewood. I was going to mess with you, but I figured that wouldn't be nice.
Hi Sarah, just saw your recent Scotland and story time video on your other channel and really liked your storytelling so I thought I'll sneak a peak here as well. Thank you for inviting us on this journey. Your and Scotland's energy is just what I need at this time of returning pandemic. My kettle just boiled and I'm happy to have a few months worth of content to binge as I sit down with my coffee and enjoy the blizzard outside, on the outskirts of Prague.
I looove your video shots of Scotland! I live in BC and I can relate to Wolfie, I haven't been to the beautiful places that much or seen much of it. So it's so amazing to see your videos all put together so beautifully and captivating! I can't find any videos of BC put together so beautifully like yours, and Scotland is so different even though the climate is the same, it's truly magical and you've managed to capture amazing footage. I am loving these shots it's soo relaxing and breathtaking. Thank you so much for doing it justice and doing it so well!
Thank you! If you like landscape photography, I can recommend Adam Gibbs and Fototripper who both live in Canada and travel across the whole country especially Vancouver.
That feeling you were talking about, that coming home feeling when you first got to Scotland, I felt it recently on our trip to Sweden. Even though I lived there for a few years in my early 20's, I never saw it the way I did this time. I saw the beautiful coastlines and little islands, the ancient forests and the beautiful houses tucked away far from the cities. That was a feeling of coming home. One day, I tell myself, I will move there and have a tiny cabin where I make my art and live a simple life. For now Midlands in the UK it is. Looking forward to catching up with your adventures as I only recently connected with you through your art channel. :)
@@sarahinscotland Dreamy is a beautiful word to describe it. I do love the idea of the north but practically, I'm not sure how far north I'm willing to go. I also love the archipelago. Such a different world. Do you have a favourite place in Scotland you'd want to eventually love? You mentioned a forest house :)
@@theuntroddenpath I watch quite a few TH-cam channels who live in north Sweden and Norway. I find those extremes fascinating. But you’re right, when faced with the choice could we commit to such a lifestyle? 😅 I haven’t seen all of Scotland but based on my travels I would want to live near Glen Affric, and have a summer house in Moray (because there are no midges 😁) From Glen Affric I’d be in the perfect position to visit Skye, Glencoe, west coast, all my favorite spots. All the places I love the most are super remote. Someday I’d love to retire to Skye
@@sarahinscotland Skye looks absolutely magnificent. I'm a little like you...the places I love are so remote so not always easy or practical to get to for a quick trip.
I just discovered your channel and absolutely loved your video❤ I will be visiting Scotland for the first time in May of 2024 and can't wait. I watch everything pertaining to Scotland.
You are my favorite TH-camr! I have been following your painting videos but just discovered this channel. I will probably never make it to Scotland but you give me a great taste of this enchanting land thru your videos. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you Sarah! I'm from Massachusetts "New England" and was fortunate to travel a bit throughout Scotland one year on a tour while visiting family in the South of England. I was smitten by Scotland like no other place. I can't really explain it well enough to others but I so enjoy that it seems you've had a similar reaction (adorable life-partner aside ;-) I look forward to your future videos...and of course my ability to get back there!
You have some beautiful footage. I love nature and Scotland has an abundance of it. In our busy lives it is so hard to get that peace to enjoy it. I love nothing better to sit amongst it and just listen.
Hi Lily! I've only been to a couple places in California, it was so warm but I enjoyed it for the brief visits 🥵 northern CA and the redwoods are on my bucket list!!
Just found your channel and my wife and I have binged a few more of your videos. Loving the beautiful video footage! We to move to Edinburgh from San Diego at the end of this year. Looking forward to your next video! Wolfie is awesome also 😎

Its very much in my heart and a big part of who I am (my parents are from Fife). I love your art videos and find myself watching them for the scenery and your video making as much as for your amazing art. Thanks so much for sharing it all with us around the globe and for keeping it real x

Ah, Yes, the Ents ! I'm from the East Coast but have traveled some within the States. Enjoyed camping, hiking in Yosemite, King's Canyon, Muir Woods, Big Sur , and a host of other places on the West Coast. I'm no longer able to do so, and delighted to follow your journey. Thanks for sharing.
Howdy Sarah, I have come over from your other channel, as you set it up so well, it was easy to click the link under the video. So glad to be here too. This is brilliantly shot. Drone work, fantastic. Sharing this with a friend. You guys are so cute together. I am a forest woman too. Isn't it wonderful to have the artist eye? Hi Sarah, your video popped up and I had to watch it as it was about Scotland. Your videography is beautiful and I’ll definitely be following your journey. I’m originally from Edinburgh but now live in the beautiful Scottish Borders. One of my favourite places to visit is also Skye. Have fun 🥰
@@sarahinscotland Oh Hi Sarah, sorry I have just seen your message. You must visit the Borders, it’s beautiful, lots of hills, trees and rivers, you would love Craik Forest 🥰 so many visitors drive through the Borders to get further north and miss out. There’s lots of history of course (it’s Scotland!) and the town where I live, Innerleithen, is very popular with mountain bikers, we hosted the Enduro World Series last weekend. I’m off to Nairn next week which is near Inverness, I also love to travel around Scotland and one of my favourite places to visit up there is Fort Augustus where you can take a boat trip on Loch Ness but I’ve not spotted Nessie yet! Have fun on your adventures and I’m loving your beautiful videos 🏴🥰
Congratulations on this new channel, I’m excited for you and anticipate many wonderful videos and commentary, I’m grateful to have found your channels, I’m inspired and subscribed!😁👍
Great video, you def got that Scotland is all about the light. I’m a photographer and the hours I’ve spent waiting for ‘that shot’ is way to much. Nice one, great vid…..
One of your gouache videos came up in my feed this morning - a very synchronistic moment. I am getting ready to move from Southern California, my home for 70 years, to Washington State at the end of January. The move was prompted for a lot of reasons: more green, more rain, more forests, more water. I am soooo looking forward to plein air painting in a new place, because Southern California is just too brown for me anymore. Your video really inspired me further and made me really feel I'm making the right choice for me and my art. I look forward to watching more of your videos, as I find even watching nature so relaxing and peaceful. And I've always been drawn to Scotland, as that's where my maternal line originates from. I'll likely never get there, but who knows? I never thought I'd leave Los Angeles, but I am going soon!
Wow thats so exciting!! I have friends and relatives in Washington and they say some of the forests remind them of Scotland. Lots of moss and lots of rain 😄
Hi Sarah, i’ve been following you Indeed for a long time on your art channel. You are an inspiration to me. I’m a beginning outdoor painter (watercolor) and like to hike and wander around. Must do this more, but as I see your vlogs, i can’t wait to go outside and explore! Your new country is beautyfull.. i can’t wait to follow your coastal journey. I live in Belgium, if you want to explore my country, feel free to connect!
I just came back from a trip to Ireland, England, and Scotland a couple of weeks ago. I feel as though as I left something back there is Scotland. It has been weird but I found some connections to Ireland but not as much as Scotland. It seems as though like you said at the beginning of the video that the land awoken something inside of me. I will look forward to seeing your adventures and I one day hope to return to Scotland. I was teasing my wife that I would love to retire there but I think that might be a pipe dream. Thanks for sharing.
@@sarahinscotland Yes, I have ancestry in both Scotland and Ireland. As I previously stated I was just there and I was able to get some information regarding one of the clans that I am a descendant of is the Hay Clan. Through some research the family clan can be dated back to 826.

Hi Sarah, I stumbled upon this site via Facebook, and am glad I found you. I, too, moved to Scotland in 2017 - but from Northern Calif. Best thing I EVER did (and I've been around this life a lot longer than you have!) I live in a small village called Dirleton in East Lothian. Hi from Ireland! Looking forward to seeing more of Scotland through your new channel. I’ve only ever been to Edinburgh and Glasgow but really want to do a road trip around Scotland in the future once we can travel safely again
Hi Kelly! Thanks for joining me 😄 I have been to Ireland once, we flew into Dublin then drove west, staying here and there. After a few days we saw the Cliffs of Moher and it blew my mind. Hi Sarah! I just found your "other channel" and I'm so happy it exists! One of the many things I love about your channel is that you always include a bit of Scotland in it, so this channel is a perfect combo! I'm from Argentina, I love to paint but at the same time I'm super scared of it, I LOVE Scotland (been there a few years ago and fell more in love), and I love how you showcase the real aspects of landscape painting. PS: I love how you included subtitles for when your husband was talking :P
I love this intro video :) My heart ached as I listened to you talking about something awakening in you upon finding yourself in Scotland. I have always felt this same draw to the forest growing up in Western Australia, and now I find myself in suburban California I feel that tug to escape into nature more than ever. I have recently started on TH-cam and realize I also really love the process of sharing and creating (on many levels) and this inspires me to maybe branch out into more vloggish content. I am so excited to follow your journey here, thank you so much for sharing.
Congrats on the new channel! I've been following your art channel for a while and am very excited to see more footage of Scotland. Your drone footage and general photography are always so beautiful and soothing. I was fortunate enough to visit right at the end of 2019 and hope to return some day to soak in more of the sights. I too am an artist. This channel speaks to me. I met my husband online many years ago. It took me from the south to the north east coast. We resided there for 21 years and then the pandemic hit. As bad as that was with lockdowns and all, it opened a fabulous door, for him to be afforded the luxury, to work from home. We sold our home last year, and I persuaded him to by a house in the south. I too have found my happy place. My backyard is all woods. Full of life. My witchy heart is so happy and I’m finally at peace. My muse is back and I’ve been painting like a mad woman. Oh the joy of creativity. My ancestry is Scottish, Irish and welsh. I carry 2 genes of hereditary hemochromatosis and was finally diagnosed in 2020. I’m under treatment and It saved my life. Its a quite common condition, among the Celtic people. My heart longs to see Scotland and Ireland one day. To walk where my ancestors originated would be a dream come true. My husband has promised to fulfill that dream one day. Sorry to be so long winded. All this to say is I loved this vlog. ☘️💚

Hi Lisa, thank you! I've always wanted to visit Portland or the PNW in general, maybe use it as a jumping off point to see the redwoods! But now I have friends on Whidbey Island so it's high on my list!
Well, as a Scotsman here are a few things you really, really need to know, so here goes (in no order); The weather - - - don't plan too far in advance, an old saying here is, if you don't like the weather, hang on for 20 minutes, sure we get good spells, but in the main our summer is maybe late July to mid September, winters can be brutal with cold going as low as -15 Celsius. The scenery is spectacular, especially when you start going north, Spittal of Glenshee to Ballater is a brilliant drive The people are friendly, and it's a rare thing for any tourist to get lost....... people will ask you if you're lost and help out. Cost of living is less than America, and the prices displayed are what you get charged (no taxes to be added which annoys me when in America), but if you own a car - - it costs about double here than USA. Scotland invented just about everything..... seriously, for example, Bank of England, United States Navy, toasters, fridges, pneumatic tyres, penicillin, TV, phones, MRI scanners, Tarmac roads, animal cloning, pedal bicycle, wire rope, steam hammer, the list goes on and on.......... not bad for a country of about 5 million (half of New York's)
I love your voice Sarah. You never rush what you are saying and speak so clearly. Can't wait to explore Scotland through your eyes. Thanks for the great video.

Oh my gosh how wonderful for them! I hope you get to visit too. Its truly magical 💜
Both places are amazing if you love the outdoors!
Steak pies, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Fish supper, Curry gravy with chips, and Jammy Dodgers are some of my favorites ❤
Classics!
And I forgot clotted cream lol

I’ve lived in Aberdeenshire all my life, (68 yo) sadly I’ve taken the beauty of it for granted, it really is awesome.
Now I’m retired I’ve travelled the length and breadth of Scotland, can’t get enough of it.
I can understand that. I’ve barely seen 2% of America.
Thank you so much
That's amazing to hear 🥰🌈🏴
Love your videos! I live in Illinois. USA. I have always been fascinated with Scotland. I love seeing it through your videos and art work. I am an artist too but paint mostly florals from my garden. ( in watercolor) I am trying to get into doing landscapes. Your paintings are fabulous! I can’t wait to see more of your videos!
Thank you so much!
Nicely done and I look forward to watching more from Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Oh hello! I used to live near Wheat Ridge 😄
@@sarahinscotland You, me and the excessive milk drinker actually used to be roommates for a little while there in Lakewood. I was going to mess with you, but I figured that wouldn't be nice.
Wait whaaaaat! So crazy! Hello "again" 😁 crazy how much life shifts, huh
Hello! It sounds like you had a cozy afternoon 😊 and I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! I’d love to see Prague someday
I imagine Sweden is so dreamy! Would you go to the north where the polar nights happen?
@@sarahinscotland Dreamy is a beautiful word to describe it. I do love the idea of the north but practically, I'm not sure how far north I'm willing to go. I also love the archipelago. Such a different world. Do you have a favourite place in Scotland you'd want to eventually love? You mentioned a forest house :)
@@theuntroddenpath I watch quite a few TH-cam channels who live in north Sweden and Norway. I find those extremes fascinating. But you’re right, when faced with the choice could we commit to such a lifestyle? 😅
I haven’t seen all of Scotland but based on my travels I would want to live near Glen Affric, and have a summer house in Moray (because there are no midges 😁)
From Glen Affric I’d be in the perfect position to visit Skye, Glencoe, west coast, all my favorite spots.
Exciting! I hope you have an amazing time!
Beautiful video! Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for visiting!
You are my favorite TH-camr! I have been following your painting videos but just discovered this channel. I will probably never make it to Scotland but you give me a great taste of this enchanting land thru your videos. Thank you so much for sharing!
Aww 😊 well I'm glad you can get a taste of this amazing country!
Aww...yea I think there are some of us who just FEEL how special this place is...no words needed
You have some beautiful footage. I love nature and Scotland has an abundance of it. In our busy lives it is so hard to get that peace to enjoy it. I love nothing better to sit amongst it and just listen.
I agree 🌱💙
Congratulations on the new channel, from Dublin, California. Thank you for sharing Scotland. My list of places to visit keeps growing.
Wolfie is awesome also 😎
Oh wow you're going to love it I hope! You should also watch Kakibot's Edinburgh Adventures. If you like nature you will love the areas North West of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Thank you! It takes a lot of patience doesn't it ☺ but so much fun and I LOVE being in nature
I love your videos :) I really miss sitting in the highlands painting- and then run for the car because of rain. Greetings from Germany.
Haha yea that is the normal way to paint here 🤣
One of your gouache videos came up in my feed this morning - a very synchronistic moment.

Do you have ancestry from these isles? I can see why you would feel a connection. I hope you had a wonderful time!

Hello! Welcome 😁 I’d love to visit Argentina someday. I think Patagonia and Glaciers National Park would be mind blowing 😱
I think that "tug" is the universe's way of telling us we are on the right path...we just have to figure out how to get there. There's always a way!

It makes me so happy to know my videos - everything I share in Scotland - resonates with you! I love when people have that deeper connection

Good to hear! 😊
Well, as a Scotsman here are a few things you really, really need to know, so here goes (in no order);
The weather - - - don't plan too far in advance, an old saying here is, if you don't like the weather, hang on for 20 minutes, sure we get good spells, but in the main our summer is maybe late July to mid September, winters can be brutal with cold going as low as -15 Celsius.
The scenery is spectacular, especially when you start going north, Spittal of Glenshee to Ballater is a brilliant drive
The people are friendly, and it's a rare thing for any tourist to get lost....... people will ask you if you're lost and help out.
I agree!
Man this is beautiful
GREAT! You are sooooooo lucky!!!!!
I agree!
Amazing!!
Could you please make a video how to move to Scotland I'm from Canada and want to settled in Scotland
