@@CarveaHolethey might not be competing but the comparison is fair. Both games are about a rags to riches story of a bunch of mercenaries who just want to survive in a world at war with itself. You manage a party of individual characters that can Excel at different tasks and you influence the world, in small ways at 1st but as you grow in strength you decide the fate of nations. Both games are good but they are also different enough that it's worth Playing both.
I enjoyed the game, but it for sure was too slow with XP gains from fights. I just have Grim Province left to complete, but there has not been one difficult fight in the game.
Yeah the hard fights were when I attacked a full bandit camp or like 22 guards. I find value in games like Skyrim and DnD where there is combat but it's not very complex or challenging, so wartales' low difficulty didn't ruin it for me. One of the main problems is that the AI is so stupid lol
This game end for me when they didn't fix a bug with peasant in the city, game crash. It was reported and nothing was fix, and like hell I will not play again this boring linear story just to finish this game.
I like everything about this game except probably the combat, which is kind of a deal breaker. I plan to play all the way through it one day regardless. However, coming from battle brothers I really miss the order of battle that it has. I hate that characters are spread around the battlefield arbitrarily, having a front and back line doesn’t seem to work all that well in my experience and is usually punished. I hate the way the game scales to the size of your party, as having more than about 6-7 mercs makes battles turn into an agonizingly long slog. Lastly I hate how much of a puzzle combat feels. This one’s harder to put my finger on, but the way the classes work, the weapons and their abilities it feels really gimmicky and more like I’m trying to solve a puzzle than just fight a battle. Battle brothers combat is just way more immersive to me.
Ah yes, way more immersive, the game that has 0 flanking damage, not to mention proper backstabbing, where wooden shields hold out just as much as steel ones from the desert (which shouldn`t really be having steel in the first place). But hey you do get 15% accuracy for 3 people next to a target, I guess that qualifies as ''tactica;l'' and shiet :))
OOhh man ive watched so many hours related with BB tutorials long time ago in your channel.. .and you just dropped this, it was impossible for me to don't watch it!!.. .ive played it for a while.. .like 25 hours, I played in the hardest difficulty too but the game was easy anyways, big turn off for me so i just dropped it.. .I read that in the next coming patch they are going to make another higher difficulty so i guess ill wait for its release. The combat its nothing crazy good either. Hopefully it will hook me after they include more content/add more difficulty/make some balance cause i hate to buy games and dont finish them lol. I guess this game have strong storytelling but lacks in combat mechanics.. .the total opposite of BB. I'll keep being a xcom widow i guess ;( P.D. : I have big hopes to get charmed by Baldur's gate 3 .. .but it looks so divinitishhhh, maybe i'll be able to ignore that, cheers mate!

Fire spreads to your soldiers on the enemy turn immediately after you apply it. It sucks unless you spend a belt item to give your guys fire immunity.
It's annoying but it rarely results in worry for your team. You Regen full hp at the end of the fight anyway.
Good game Wartales! The problem is just if you played Battle brothers there's nothing to compare it, too good
