There Shouldn't be This Many Necromancers.

  • A viewer sent me a modded savefile at a fight with four necromancers. I said "what the heck" and tried it out live on camera! Raw gameplay and strategizing.

Great fight. Lots of pro moves:
    1. Not attempting to move up and shoot the necros with bullseye.
    2. Brilliant move to QH to dagger on a fat neutral for double kill.
    3. Some nice combos of waiting for a 1H to finish off weakened enemies and not attacking immediately with 2H.
I liked your idea of sending a thrower north to clear the necros. I completely forgot about them rezzing too. I think even eliminating one necro was good.
Necro fights are just about brute forcing your way through the undead, not targeting the necros.

Thanks for pointing those out for viewers! I agree that killing the one was useful; each necro is a force multiplier for the enemy, I think trading 1:1 (i.e. one thrower spends all fight walking) is good there.

@@CarveaHole Yea, quite impressive how that worked out. In the original playthrough, the way I beat it is:
      1. bring my Archer Bow spec guy to shoot down the necros north by moving the entire team north and making space for him
      2. send out the Fencer with the Undead necklace as a runner all around to lure half the zombies and some gheists south - pick off some gheists with Lunge and eventually reach and kill the Eastern Necro.
      3. With the team I prioritized killing the geists with whips and mostly tanked the zombies while killing the fallen heroes.
Great positioning and decision making, I learned quite a bit.

"Necro fights are just about brute forcing your way through the undead" - greatly proven by a video where he actually loses one of the guys due to possesed fallen hero?🤨

      Lots of un-pro moves actually.
      1. Not taking whips to clean up Gheists fast.
      2. Not prioritizing necros.
      3. Not using enough cleavers to at least get rid of zombies.
Necro fights is always about killing necros. Otherwise ressurected and possesed FHeros slowly but steadily will chew through your guy's armor and then meat.
And gheists fight is always about prioritizing gheists.
Combined - gheists first, then necros.
This fight could be fought much more clean and fast if done with proper priorities and goals.

man that's like a horror movie by itself.
that 2040 gold contract must have been one of the worst contracts in the history of contracts ever.

    • @CarveaHole

I still think the worst one are the "roam around the world to find lindwurms and hexen" cause that is such a WASTE of my time and i can't even find them!

    • @pjshaw4797

@@CarveaHole Yeah, I have a personal hatred for those unhold contracts that pay like 200 crowns a head. Bitch, those fuckin things cost more than 200 crowns each by the medicine and tools you use up! no way I'm doing that until I reach the point where I really need craftable items

    • @ygazz
      @ygazz ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@CarveaHole they usually mention the location in those contracts and then it spawns some of hexe/lindwurms there after accepting, but anyhow agree those are the most wasteful contracts. One time it worked out well cause the location they pointed was right next to me and i wanted to farm some hexens for ingredients, so it was rare case where taking this contract was good idea.

Must of been the necromancer convention you stumbled upon.

I lost my last campaign on this exact fight, 3 necro + 8 gheists at day 170. I wiffed my first 2 rounds of whip and then all hell broke loose, brothers running left and right, t’was a bloodbath.

I noticed most of my recent campaigns ended badly only for one of two reasons - underestimating fight with necromancer(s) or putting my best guys in arena fight that goes wrong (usually against swordmaster or gladiators). Quite a progress i guess from when i was less experienced and was usually losing either against orcs or noble armies.

Missed you homie! Love the content, you completely improved my skill at the game. Right now I’m looking for my first noble house to attack at day 40 for some loots.

Hey Carve, I'm interested to know your thoughts on the difficulty progression for the game
I know that Nomads get dodge around day 40(?) and subsequently become WAY more annoying to fight (at least in my experience), but are there any other enemies that scale an abnormally high or low amount? Are there any areas that have good drops/money until a specific point? (other than the aforementioned nomads)
I also know that most contracts scale with your company, although beyond the general trend of "more bros and more levels -> harder fights" I don't know anything.
Would love to get your take on this, either as a video or just a reply to this comment, as the wiki has good info but not a lot of practical application

I remembered you playing this save, but didn't remember your strategy, so when I played this same save, I devised my own strat. The video of this fight is in my crappy channel. It's funny how large our differences in setup are. I only use one tank and no ranged weapons at all. You use 2 tanks and 3 ranged bros. In my opinion, at some point in the endgame, ranged units (or hybrids) become a liability, because they cannot be engaged in combat. Their MDef is too weak. And if you face 30+ enemies, that is a real concern.

    • @CarveaHole

Your video was not your first try though, right? What did you do the first time? If I had to redo it, I'd probably drop some of the ranged dudes. I like my tanks though, they soak up a lot of hits.

Just use the mortar mod and target the necromancers with your artillery 3 shots from mortars is enough to kill them
