Builders of the Temple: Steel Workers

- A piece of brilliant engineering took place on the fourth and fifth floors of the Salt Lake Temple during its extensive renovation temple this year. Around 200,000 pounds of steel beams were temporarily installed to shore up the walls of the structure. Fifty-thousand-ton jacks along with a hydraulic manifold system were installed on the beams. The weight bearing on the pioneer temple walls was transferred to this steel system while retrofitting of the seismic upgrade took place on the floors below. Watch how this amazing feat was pulled off.
When this project is done I hope the church makes a documentary about this entire process. I would be VERY interested to watch it

That would require a filming crew on hand (almost) every day. I somewhat doubt that is happening.
But it would be amazing!
Even just a compilation video of all of these smaller updates, interspersed with interviews of the apostleship and the workers, maybe even with President Nelson's video message from one of the 2020 Conferences (I don't remember which one) in there somewhere, culminating in a special message from President Nelson, THAT would be great!

Please thank and give our sincere love and appreciation to your family and loved ones for supporting you while you sacrificed away from them doing this work in the over-night/morning hours of the project. Thank you for the way you did it, with sensitivity, compassion, and even watching your language as you worked on this Holy work, inside the temple. I know that's not easy to do at times. Thank you for being so careful in the important work you performed. I know the Lord thanks your as well for taking care of His Holy Temple. We hope you felt His special appreciation and love for you doing such a marvelous work and wonder for Him! Love you steel guys and gals. We appreciate you. Thank you so much! Not a member, but I have always been impressed by the engineering that the LDS has done from this building's construction up to today. Looking forward to seeing a final cut of all this footage when the projects completed.

Nice to see moving huge objects by rolling them on tube shaped rollers is still used. The builders of the pyramids and Stonehenge would recognize the method immediately. Very cool.

My late Grandfather worked for the Former Geneva Steel that was located in Orem years ago. I had an Uncle who worked at the Former Geneva Steel as a machinist. I even had cousins who also worked at the Former Geneva Steel. And some of them live in American Fork Utah.

Wow, I knew there was a lot of hard work going into the renovation, but I had no idea about the specific challenges they faced in doing the work.
