  • This is my detailed test and scoring of the REI Skyward 4 tent, including a comparison to similar tents. If you are considering the REI Skyward 6, then I think you'll still find this video helpful, because the only differences I could find about the 6 person and 4 person versions of this tent are as follows:
    1. The 6-person size has 2 additional storage pockets on the inside
    2. The 6-person size is wider (as you would expect)
    Everything else about the 4P and 6P Skyward appear to be the same.

    Nice video and good review. I just purchased this tent as it was on special at REI and I'm looking forward to using it.

    I JUST bought this tent! It was on sale in REI for $120, as far as the leaks go… for that price I think I’ll be fine lol

      Yeah I've been eyeing it while it (and the 6-person) while they're on sale. For the price I think I'm willing to take my chances - or just bring an extra tarp to throw on top if it's going to get stormy.

    Thanks for the review. We bought this tent after seeing your review.
    We were in a heavy dessert wind, rain, and hail storm. The tent did great.

    Just discovered your great videos! Have you reviewed the NEMO Aurora Highrise 6 or the Eureka Space Camp 6? Those are the other two I have been looking at in addition to this one.

    I know this is a very late comment, but I camped with this tent during a thunderstorm and did not have any leakage. Not sure if they updated it, or I just had less wind then you did 🤷

    Any poles you'd recommend to prop up the vestibule?

    STEER CLEAR!!!!!!Vestibule zippers are a jam festival!!!Actually had both sides jam when trying to exit I had to crawl under the door. JUNK door zippers...you've been warned. Returned after first camping trip..bought a North face Wawona, absolutely awesome in all aspects!

    Since you are looking to do more testing of tents how about testing the Bass Pro Shop Alaskan Guide Six tent? Or better yet their upgraded version the Alaskan Guide Instinct six person tent which has aluminum poles and a few other upgrades.

      @littlecampfires  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just had a look at it. It has SO MANY POLES. Probably helps keep the sides of the tent stable. Especially since it’s a dome shape. The next batch of tents I’m doing are all under $200, so this doesn’t fit the criteria for that video. But I’ll keep it in mind in the future!

    That was a very helpful review. Thank you. I just started looking for a new 4P tent. My main criteria are being able to stand up straight (I'm 6'0) and wind/rain resistance. Which other tents should I be looking at?

    • @littlecampfires
      @littlecampfires  ปีที่แล้ว

      The REI wonderland is great for both those criteria. It’s pricey but one of my favorites.

      North Face Wawona 6 is also worth a look.

      @@littlecampfires Thanks for the suggestions. I decided on the Big Agnes Spicer Peak 6. It's a basic dome tent, but it's easy to set up, tall enough to stand up in and has a full rain fly. I already tested it out camping for 5 days in Death Valley National Park. The winds were intense at times, but the tent performed very well. Haven't tested it in the rain, but with the full rain fly, I expect it to do well in the rain too.

    Great review. I wonder if that poor ventilation would help it stay warmer in cool weather?

    • @littlecampfires
      @littlecampfires  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah - probably, it’s rated as a 3 season though, and I wouldn’t expect it to be warm enough for cold winter camping.

    Also; Only 2 guylines? Need one for each corner as well for those really windy days. No zipper cover for the screen on the door, and no foot print?

      Foot prints sold separately

    I’m seriously considering buying this tent. Is there a way to cinch down the rain fly tighter to keep wind and rain from blowing in?

      I’m also considering this tent. Maybe attaching velcro with fabric glue?

      @@disFool1 That’s actually a great idea. I might try it. I did end up buying the tent. 50% off on sale at REI.

    I have a sub $200 tent that doesn't leak. For me that's a no-go, especially for a tent that costs nearly twice as much.

    Temped to get this but mainly camping in rainy and hot Florida.

      I just bought one and camped out in High Springs which is near Gainesville. With a fan inside, my girlfriend and I slept comfortably and even used the blankets we thought would be useless due to the heat.
