  • I had little doubt in my mind of which axles would be the most appropriate for the project this entire time - and I really appreciate everyones input on which axle they thought I should use. The setup is extremely expensive, and very Overkill.. which is in the right theme of my Ultimate Tough Truck Build. I have a long way to go in this build still.. but the axle decision is fundamental and paramount to the direction of a build. The Vanquish Products, Licensed Currie Portal Axles are the top of the top in price point during the time of this filming - but what king of innovation does it bring to the table? Well, they are light-weight, the front steering axle has somewhat adjustable Toe in/out on the steering throw as well as i absolutely LOVE how the steering C-Hubs are mounted to the axle. The replaceable, threaded insert is pure genius. This will eliminate the terrible day on the trail where in times past.. your day was ended early by a stripped out c-hub screw. I also like the helical cut gears for the pinion and spool gear. In regards to the steering.. the Dual Steering Link Horn is nice on the spindles as well as the Back axle can mount Dual shocks.. .. So all in all.. VERY OVERKILL!
Vanquish Products say that their front axle has the following features:
    Features:
Portal box built into the included knuckle with bolt on high steer arm for double shear mounting
Gear reduction in the portal of 1.67:1 (18/30), Optional Overdrive Ratio of 1.4:1 (20/28) recommended for use in front axle only.
Included Vanquish AR44 machined gear set
Overall axle reduction of 6.26:1 with stock portal ratio
    13mm increase in ground clearance
Specifically design offset C-hubs is machined into the housing for strength, durability, clearance and scale appearance
Hex to hex width of 7.66 inches, only roughly 5mm wider than a stock AR44 axle with a narrow hex
Replaceable Chromoly threaded inserts used at knuckle and C-hub to ensure a stripped thread doesn't ruin your investment
Brass knuckle bushing from the AR60 axles are used in place of SCX10-II sized for more durability.
Chromoly AR60 size VVD axle shafts come preassembled
Chromoly stub shafts with 6mm design at the drive pin which tapers down to a 5mm thread for ultimate strength
    Chromoly spool
Aluminum 12mm hex with set screw
Compatible with stock SCX10-II Chassis mounted servo or F9 Servo on axle mount
    Uses all SCX10-II linkage
Adjustable steering stop integrated into knuckle
    Complete Fast Eddy Bearings kit
    Licensed by Currie Enterprises
Comes with One Piece Bearing Retainers (Patent Pending)
    Double shear shock mounts
    Integrated Panhard mount
Upper link mounts built into third member
Increased upper link clearance for more suspension up travel ability
The Vanquish Currie Portal F9 SCX10 II Front Axle Kit is an all inclusive axle assembly that creates extreme amounts of ground clearance under the center of your axle. By increasing the pumpkin clearance by 1/2"+ (13mm), it creates the equivalent of running a tire that is over 1 inch taller than what is on your rig. But the real advantage of the Vanquish Currie F9 Portals is the gear reduction inside the portal (1.67:1), that can be tuned with optional gear sets (1.4:1 Overdrive - VPS08353). By adding reduction at the portal, less torque is transferred through the other upstream components in the drivetrain.

Hello from wales ,first off what a great channel with some fantastic builds ,some time back I became too poorly to work and I started to deteriorate mentally which showed up as a lack of interest in life at this point my family suggested I got back into some of the hobby’s I used to love which was rc cars , got on utube and found you’re channel where I watched with absolute amazement when you showed you and you’re mates rc crawling ,boom ! Got enough money to buy a second hand axial 10 mk 2 built a small crawling track in my back garden and totally fell in love with the truck and the hobby again.I too have a wonderful wife and three fantastic (grown up ) kids but where I do envy you is you’re mates ,I brought an axial after watching you boys driving them which turned out to be an awesome buy ,nothing has broken which is what makes the kit so good as money is not readily available. So this is the bit where is thank you to you and you’re mates for the help ,god bless and I hope you get better soon

I already own these axles and still sat and watched you throw them together just to see what other people think about them. They are a pretty incredible product, not quite as light when you get them together but still way lighter than a trx4 aluminum axle.
