I appreciate the normal installation video from start to finish without adding busbars and various unnecessary junk like some others. Thank you.

Thanks for the overview of the battery monitor. As a point of clarification only; RJ11 is 2-4 wire connectors normally used for phone lines. The connector on the BMV-712 shunt is an RJ45 connector which typically has 8 connectors and wires (4 twisted pairs) and is used for most all LAN connections to PC's and is also used on this device. The label "UTP" means that the cable is an "Unshielded Twisted Pair" setup, which would not work very well for a PC LAN cable, but is more than adequate for monitoring the battery bank.

Nice and informative video. I just received my BMV 700. I was wondering if I should install 2 cables (+) and (-) disconnect to isolate the batteries from the monitor when I need to charge my batteries with a gas generator using a automatic fast charger that can deliver up to 25 amp if needed ? Also my concern is about the wire between the shunt and the monitor, is it made to be install outside ? And I was thinking installing the shut inside and in a sealed pvc box

I installed a smaller 19V tv (28" fit well in the space) and it works well. Plus I found a power converter originally designed as a universal laptop power supply that is quite small, so I was able to just stick it to the back of the TV with double sided tape. I like that the 19V models seem to he better quality than the 12V RV sets. Only bad thing is that it was tough to find a 19V model. I only found the one that happened to be the size I needed. Manufacturers seem to be moving towards the AC models.
I'll have to search your videos to see if you have installed the new TVs yet.

I was looking for a TT install with battery on the tounge. When it warms up I will be installing one. Still not sure where I will install monitor in TT as my underbelly is fully enclosed. Current idiot light monitors are in bathroom and I hate the location.
    Great video.

I really liked your video about the installation of the monitor, I have a question? Can I install this monitor on my RV and charge the batteries with my generator, do boondocking until I have a budget for the solar panels and the rest of the package?

Must be sure there is only one ground cable from battery neg to shunt all other grounds must be on the load side of the shunt or it will not read the load correctly.

I notice you have a Eaton battery, why ? I will replace my two 12 v lead acid batteries by two 6 v Agm deep cycle batteries and I was wondering what brand to choose ?

I have unlimited access to custom made eaton batteries for a specific use we have. I recommend any Trojan 6v wet or AGM batteries. Ive used both with great success boondocking. For home solar it depends on your needs. Can ro 12v solar, 24v solar, 12 or 24v batteries. All depends on funds and needs.

Anyone else bothered by mounting the shunt under the lid, they're pretty flimsy plastic and can be brittle in the cold, so a hard impact or something breaking that lid and you have a ground wire flopping around that can reach the positive terminal 🤷🏻‍♂️
