    Glad to hear there is a new treatment option! I had molluscum for about 3-4 years that my doctor refused to treat because they were “normal” and “harmless.” They were extremely bothersome to me and I developed severe OCD because of them. Eventually got to the point where I cut them off myself. It finally got rid of them, but did leave some scars (still glad that I did it, though). I hope doctors realize that “harmless” infections like molluscum can still be extremely harmful to one’s mental health and should treat it accordingly. Thanks for covering this, Dr. Dray!

    I somehow got this on my neck in my early 20s and it was a nightmare for me. I had just gotten off of accutane, my skin barrier was compromised, and I started catching all kinds of stuff that attacked my skin. I was so paranoid about the molluscum spreading anywhere else on my body or to someone else.
    I had an awesome dermatologist who individually extracted the core of each molluscum bump we could find (took several visits) and my skin healed completely. We didn’t freeze because I’m brown skinned and didn’t want the hyperpigmentation and scarring.
    I’ll never forget that derm. She was awesome and her bedside manner made me feel better during a tough time.

    My son got molluscum and we didn't know what to do. Then months later he was out in the country at my mother in law's, and he got chiggers- very itchy! But it seems like that awakened his immune system, and the Molluscum went away.

    My 8 yo daughter has had molluscum for a while. I got the advice from my sister to use Retin A and I've been applying. It has helped a lot but she's still getting a few bumps, specially under her arm and some of them get very itchy and painful when they are about to pop. Can't wait for us to get rid of them. Thank you for reassuring that they do go away in time. Maybe we should also try this new gel you just recommended. I will bring it up to her PCP and see if we can get it. It's always a pleasure watching your videos, we learn so much from you ❤

    I had molluscum, went to the derm and she extracted all of them and told me I could easily extract new ones myself as they occurred. I did it the same way I do milia, with a sterilized pin to open the skin, and then just squeeze them out while wearing gloves. Just make sure you sterilize the area before and after extracting to prevent auto inoculation.

    You need to get the body to recognise that they are there.
    We did this by rubbing the areas down with a rough flannel when in the shower, making sure to wash away any blood.
    They then scab and magically the body seems to notice them and attack them all.
    Worked on both children

    My my my what an interesting and educational video. So simple to understand and get a well rounded view of what's molluscum anyway 😅. It got me hooked right from the start and i was thinking by myself if it's contagious what if i cover it with a sterilized gauze make a few swirls and restraint the infected area from spreading even more on our skin and of course to another individual. Another thing that came to my mind if there are a few but close in proximity and can be covered with a sterilized water resistant gauze that adheres to the skin then it can also effect positively both mentally and practically the individual's lifestyle not constantly worrying if i spread it even more on my skin or another individual 😊❤. Doctor Andrea excellent work kudos and respect to you. You are amazing ❤.

    My son had this at age 5 behind one of his knees. His allergist is the one that found it.
    I took him to a dermatologist bc it was summer and I wanted to try and lessen his ability to spread to daycare kids.
    His derm used something that I believe was the cyro method you mentioned. It worked some but I think the thing that worked the best was a prescription. I think its intended use is for genital warts. Luckily, my son didn’t like the bumps and understood that he shouldn’t itch or touch.
    Thanks to your video, I now know that his eczema could have played a role. His eczema is pretty bad behind his knees and that is where his bumps were.

    I had gone to the doctor for clear bumps on my hands and I was told that it was molluscum... But as I said these bumps are clear and have a clear sort of liquid inside of them... They are really small, same size as the ones in the picture and non of these descriptions matched how the small bumps on my hands are, is this still molluscum?? Or is it something else??

    I had a lot of them on the back of my thighs back when I was in high school. I went to a doctor and they froze them off and I got scarring from that. It sucked!

    Maybe I have seen these before and I'm pretty sure I had my doctor burn them off, well freeze them when I heard you say itch. Then I remembered. Think I was exposed to those at work. They are awful.

      Check Dr Dray's videos on pie or post inflammatory erythema. Hydroquinone is more for something like melasma.

    With all due respect doc and just a gentle reminder that not all people can afford to be lined up in front of a doctor’s office for something they could likely treat themselves with OTC products (offered in most other countries) except here in the good ole US of A. It’s because of this these other countries are laughing at us for spending so much money on healthcare. But doctors have to send their kids to medical school to become doctors to right? Sad!

      They also don't test new meds the way we do. A number of meds are removed due to horrible side effects including birth defects.

    My son had this when he was about 4 or 5. It spread all over his body. We took him to a pediatric derm and had several rounds of freezing. He was an absolute trooper though and gritted his teeth through the pain. It was a heartbreaking, traumatic experience...for me - he doesn't even remember.

    How do you get rid of moles without going to a doctor

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't. Any dermatology channel including Dr Dray is going to say to go to your doctor.

    • @tiahnarodriguez3809
      @tiahnarodriguez3809 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Please don’t try to get rid of the mole yourself. Not only is it dangerous, but unless you remove the entire mole (including the part under the skin) it’ll grow back. It’s best to get your moles checked out by a doctor and see what treatment options are.
